The oldest physical book I own is, I think, this edition of Tennyson‘s poems. As far as I can tell, it‘s from the 1880s. It‘s not in great condition—I picked it up at a library book sale for a couple of dollars!—but I love it. That cover! The illustrations! And the print is so TINY!

The oldest book in my collection that I can definitely date is from 1908, and is also a Tennyson—an edition of Lancelot and Elaine.

Walking in Lincoln today and stumbled across the estate of Bayons Park. On this site stood Bayons Manor, Tennysons son‘s country house which the older Tennyson described as ‘ an exquisite piece of tomfoolery‘ ! Need quite an imagination to visualise the romantic medieval castle now though! 🤣

Love finding old books at antique shows. Found a nice addition with this poem set.

My oldest and most treasured book is my 1862 volume of Lord Alfred Tennyson's poems. My Meme gave me this book my senior year of high school. Unfortunately it's cover is falling apart and there are what looks like age spots on some of the pages. Most of the pages are in great shape, the illustrations are beautiful, and the gold leaf is still in tact. My favorite poem is Love & Death 🖤

Who likes poetry?

This may be my favorite little bookshelf in the house. It holds mostly poetry books, and most of my antique books. In the middle shelf on the very left is a book of Tennyson poems, printed over 150 years ago.
