#roll100 a quirky crime story from comedy legend Bob Mortimer. I enjoyed the ramblings of Gary‘s brain as definitely reminded me of some of Bob‘s stories in ‘would I lie to you‘ not the greatest novel I‘ve ever read but by no means the worst!

Funny debut novel from comedian, Bob Mortimer. Entertaining and slightly bonkers as you'd expect. I particularly enjoyed Gary's interactions with the squirrels.
Soft pick

It just wasn‘t for me… I bought it on a whimp and got though it somehow but I didn‘t really enjoy the story. It‘s a murder mystery with a Love twist which I find predictable and quite repetitive.
Gary is an average guy that meets his work associate for a drink who mysteriously disappears. Gary is then involved in the whole investigation and falls in love with a girl. I know it was meant to be funny and all but not to my taste.
This is a proper North By North-West type Everyman unwittingly caught up in a tangled web of crime story that would be worth reading whoever wrote it. But told in the rambling, surrealist style that Bob Mortimer has made into a comedic art form (I swear I heard it in his voice throughout and I was not trying!) it is an unalloyed delight.

Started watching British panel shows before our trip to London last week and Bob Mortimer was our favorite guest on a show called Would I Lie to You. Found his brand new novel at Foyle‘s Books on Charing Cross Road and had to get it. It‘s lovely! So quirky and hilarious and I hope it comes to the States. Best souvenir.
“When I arrived I noticed a colourful red and white striped bicycle leant against the wall by the entrance. It crossed my mind there might be a pissed juggler inside the building throwing his skittles willy-nilly at the light fittings. I would enjoy watching the repercussions of that sort of incident.“
As BobMortimery as it is possible for a novel to get - LOVED that Bob read the audiobook. So good!
