The Gathering by C.J. Tudor is a horror and suspense-filled murder mystery with unusually high stakes.

C.J. Tudor has been one of my favorite authors since I first read The Chalk Man. Though I love them all, this book is officially my favorite of her works so far!

I picked up this one, my second book by this author. I read her debut called The Chalk Man, thought it was pretty good. This one, a USA where Vampyre‘s have been living among us but pushed to the outskirts of society and ostracized. An agent is sent to investigate a supposed killing by a Vampyr on a human, which is forbidden and if warranted could require the whole colony to be culled. Obviously, things aren‘t what they seem to be in Alaska. 4⭐️

Finished this one the other day. Set in Alaska with vampires. There is a death in the small Alaska town and basically the vampire FBI comes in to investigate.

Everyone knows about vampires but they can‘t work or go to school. They only have protected rights, so the humans can‘t attack them.

I got so absorbed in the world and small town drama that the actual revelation of the killer felt like I was being robbed, though there were enough clues that I knew who it was going to be. I hope there‘s a sequel.

Apparently this was the 6th book in a series?! I quite liked this Vampyr murder mystery, all the twists kept me guessing

I‘ve been outside most of the day with laundry on the line and a swim about an hour ago. It‘s 25°C ( 31° with humidex) and it‘s perfect. I‘m completely on summer time, we haven‘t had dinner yet ( huge piece of salmon is going on the grill )

I really enjoyed this!! A world where vampires exist but they‘re not your stereotypical vampires. The book does a good job of establishing the rules & facts about them. I enjoyed Barbara as the detective in this story. There was mystery & suspense until the end. The only other book I‘ve read by the author is The Chalk Man which I also really enjoyed! This made for a great listen! I‘ll be eager to get to more of their books!

Quite good, a lot of fun to read! I love vampire stories so I was thrilled about this one from Tudor. I loved the police procedural aspect. I loved the characters both good and bad. I loved all of the secrecy and twists. I especially loved the snowy, cold, remote atmosphere of this fictional Alaskan town. I do wish Tudor had leaned in to the vampire aspect a bit more but it‘s still a very solid story with fun vampire lore. I need more from Tudor!

A riveting vampire police procedural until the last quarter when it all kind of fell apart for me. A soft pick. Pictured: current mood.

I saw this recently on @Reggie‘s feed and couldn‘t wait to grab it and read it myself. I loved Tudor‘s The Drift so I can‘t wait to really dig into this one. Just started it, only a few chapters in.

I feel like vampire books were trendy for a while but they sort of fell off of publishing lists. Hoping they‘ll come back!! I loooove a good vampire tale.

I love C.J. Tudor and found this to be an original addition to vampire lore. In a world where vampires are a known thing a detective has to investigate the death of a boy and decide whether it was caused by one and therefore warrants the murder of the local group of vampires. It was dark and twisted and I enjoyed the audiobook a lot. I‘ll read anything this author writes! 🌟🌟🌟🌟

In this world vampyres are a marginalized group living in colonies next to human cities but can never go to school or work a job. In a remote Alaskan town a boy is found dead and everyone is just itching for an excuse to cull a colony. Enter very even keeled, government agent Barbara. Tudor‘s latest is a bit of a departure, mingling a traditional #SerialKillerThriller with a #vampire story but it really works—& leaves a set-up for a sequel! Barbara Atkins works for the FBI devoted to vampyr killings & is sent to the remote ex-mining town of Deadhart, AK where history seems to be repeating itself after a teenager seems to be the victim of a vampyr. The isolated community holds secrets, & despite slow pacing, finishes strong!

Oh my dear god. This is such a bizarre novel. C. J. Tudor has written another scary as hell thriller and I love it. Vampyrs live among us. They live in Colonies and all is definitely not well. A horrible history exists between them and humans and it is an uneasy coexistence, to say the least. Does the end of this book hint at a sequel? I dearly hope so. Barbara Atkins is a force to be reckoned with. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

In a modern world of protecting vampyre colonies since 1983, it‘s best a human avoid drinking a vampyre‘s blood if bitten. But vampyres have rules too…stick with animal blood, don‘t kill other vampyres, don‘t turn a child, be prepared to live for centuries and die for decades. You‘ll put your entire colony at risk should you murder a human and a human anthropologist of vampyres (the MC) authorizes the culling of your entire community. 👇

I‘ve read C. J Tudor‘s thrillers and I loved them and this book was no exception. This was a thriller mixed with vampires and I couldn‘t get enough. Once I started reading this book I just flew through it.

I definitely look forward to more books from this author and I also need to read some of her previous novels.

The best book I‘ve read this year. Set in a world where vampires live in colonies adjacent to humans in an uneasy truce. This is a murder mystery, with both human and vampire suspects. Barbara, the detective, must walk a fine line as tensions cause both groups to be on the edge of war. This was a fun read, and very interesting. I was never bored.
