#2018ReadingGoals

I will completely admit to doing an internal happy dance when I seen that I only have 10 more books to read to reach my 2018 Goodreads goal. Even though I knew I would be reading a ton of children‘s literature, graphic novels, and other “quick reads”, I still thought it would take me the whole year to hit my goal of 500. I may have been less active on Litsy lately thanks to the up coming wedding, here‘s proof that I‘ve still be reading ☺️

Cosyreader Wow that‘s amazing! Well done 🎉👏 6y
julesG Wow! You could aim for 1,000, or take it slow from here. 😉 6y

2018 Reading Goals 💙

📚Read 500 books
📚Try out new genres
📚 #MountTBR -Kilimanjaro/60 books
📚 Save $5K by using my library card
📚Become more involved in the Litsy community
📚 And as always, have fun and don't let the goals stress me out.

Added bonus: GET MARRIED IN A LIBRARY!

Kaye Sounds like a good list of goals. I like the saving that much money in a year. I spend a fortune between kindle and audible books ! 7y
Clwojick @Kaye When I calculated last years totals and seen that I saved $11k I knew I wanted to set that as an annual goal ongoing so I don't forget to take advantage of what the library has to offer. I've gone years without using my library card, and I cringe thinking about how much money I'd save, especially considering I never keep my books after I read them. They get passed on. 7y

Kaye 😮 Wow, 11 K. Our libraries occasionally have pamphlets out that tell you how much you save by using the library instead of buying books. I really need to do the same , as retirement will be around the corner. I just got a Congratulations Notice in the mail telling me I‘m now old enough to have a Golden Buckeye card (in Ohio it gives seniors a small discount in certain items ).Gotta Learn to live on more of a fixed income. Thanks for reminding me 7y
Pamwurtzler Those are good goals. The library is key for me! And @kaye my husband just got his Golden Buckeye card too. Nothing like that reminder. 😀 7y
MommyWantsToReadHerBook You guys are really lucky to have such awesome libraries. I don't have a prayer in hell of finding anything published recently at mine (or in the whole city) and there's never anything among the new books that catches my eye. If I really, really want something I have to buy it new, hope to find it secondhand or hope a good friend buys it. It sucks. 7y
Clwojick @MommyWantsToReadHerBook Do you join in on a lot of swaps here? That's another good way to get books that are on your TBR! I know I'm very lucky. Our thrift stores have phenomenal selection, I have four libraries that are beautifully stocked, and I have multiple used and new bookstores. If I ever post a pic of a book you're hoping to read, I don't mind doing a swap with you if you're interested. If I own the book, it gets passed along afterwards. 7y
Clwojick @MommyWantsToReadHerBook I always offer to swap with ppl on here as long as they're okay with 2nd hand books. I get 99% of mine at thrift stores for $2 a piece. 😉 7y
MommyWantsToReadHerBook @Clwojick I'm in South Africa, sadly, behind the times on so many fronts 😊 In the province where I grew up, you could at least order books from the main library in the capital city, so I got many great books that way while I was a teen and student. But in Gauteng every municipality has its own pathetic little system and you can only request books in your own city, so most of what I request is unavailable. 7y
Kaye Yes I guess those of us who are fortunate enough to have good libraries are lucky. @MommyWantsToReadHerBook Do you get to make trips to a bigger city that has a nicer library very often ? I‘m wondering if you could borrow them for extended times since you don‘t have close nice libraries. 7y
MommyWantsToReadHerBook I already live in the capital city 😢😢 It's pathetic, there are loads of libraries but they're all teeny tiny and all equally poorly stocked. They have plenty of modern classics but like I said nothing very recent. I can't figure out how it works, how money for more books is allocated.. 7y
MommyWantsToReadHerBook ... It's really a worse system than in my home province. I want to talk to them a bit when I go there again. 7y
TricksyTails Is this my bujo? 😜 ♥️♥️♥️ Love it! So pretty! 7y
Bourriquet76 I can't imagine what my boy and I save at the library! 7y
readinginthedark So awesome! 7y
UrsulaMonarch 👍💚👍💚👍 7y
Clwojick @Bourriquet76 its probably an obscene amount. Last year my total was over $11,199,000 7y

Happy new year, #littens! I set my Goodreads goal this morning! I read almost 90 books in 2017, but with an infant and a four year old, I'm trying to keep it realistic. I didn't get any reading done this past weekend because both boys were sick. #2018readinggoals #4booksamonth #nslittens

So this year I came up with my own challenge! I‘m calling it #BigBooks2018 because it‘s focused on the “big books” that can be tough to tackle: nonfiction, history, philosophy, social theory, and classics. It‘s quality over quantity. I would love love love to have some people join me in this! I customized it a bit for myself & of course others could do the same. #2018readinggoals #2018challenge #bookresolutions #readingresolutions #bujo

tif Not sure I am stretch myself to a fifth reading challenge as well as my two IRL book clubs! It's a great list though! I'm always trying to push myself to read more challenging books 7y

Working on my #litsyatoz list, don‘t think my Q (Don Quixote) and X (Area X - Annihilation) will qualify, but only books I own that involve those letters and I want to only use books I own and haven‘t read. And there is my sleepy kitty, she did not enjoy the fireworks last night and is completely exhausted today. #catsoflitsy #bookresolutions #readingresolutions #2018readinggoals
