Are you ready to uncover the story of the winter carousel?
Part Two: Winter. 1.12.20

Somehow I managed to pull it off! (I wrote 5930 words in four hours. And they‘re readable. IDK how. That‘s some Stephen King level bullshit right there).

Hope all my fellow Littens did well!

@MrBook is running #ReadWithMrBook in 2020, and we need your help making a list of #AuthorsOfLitsy for the March challenge!

If you know Litsy authors, please tag them, and if you're an author, tell us a bit about a book of yours you think we should read in March!

It's releasing serially over the course of three months, December-February 2mo
RachelAmphlett @RachelO oh, same! I used to live there when I played in bands and my grandparents are from the area, so it‘s been fun revisiting! 2mo

So I haven‘t (and won‘t) meet my goal of finishing Little Women by the end of this year, because I spent the day getting my book review website ready to go live again at its new address
which I‘m pretty excited about!
I already have a few books on the way from authors, so y‘all can check out my new writing soon 😊
and Little Women will have to be one of my first books of 20019

Ummm, hello all. I don‘t know if I‘m just too old or too stupid, but I feel like I don‘t understand/know how to take advantage of all that Litsy has to offer. It seems there are a lot of reading groups, reading events (such as for next year) that I cannot figure out how to participate in—they just kind of pop up, lol. Anyway, I‘m wondering if things are explained somewhere? Oh, and I have read Raimey‘s tips. Sorry to be such a dinosaur🦕!

gradcat Any help and/or tips, however small, would be much appreciated. 1y
Victoriahoperose Hi there. Keep your eyes open for things that people post. If you see something that someone is participating in that you think you would be interest you can always comment to them and they could direct you to the original post or link or you can search the hashtag that they post to get to the original post. I hope this helps 😊😊😊 1y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa It‘s a jump in, if you see anything at all that interests you, I‘d comment right on that post and just say tell me more, or can I join in. The answer is almost always yes, there are only a few that have deadlines for joining. Then usually there‘s a tag associated with that series, group, whatever that you can search by to follow others who were also interested. @LitsyHappenings tries to post some and we try to tag them (if we remember) 1y
See All 40 Comments
TheKidUpstairs There's so much happening that it can definitely be easy to miss things. The great thing about most Litsy happenings is that you can jump in mid way and participate! Follow @LitsyHappenings to try and keep up to date with new stuff. And if you see someone participating in a group that sounds fun, usually the organizer will be tagged along with a hashtag. Feel free to tag any organizer in a comment asking how to join in, they'll be happy to help! 1y
TheKidUpstairs Here's a few things coming up if you want to join in: @MinDea and @EadieB will be hosting #AuthoraMonth readalongs staring in December, head to their pages for more info. I think the #Booked2018 hosts are prepping a #Booked2019 challenge - lots of fun with little pressure, just participate how and when you can, hosts are @Cinfhen @4thhouseontheleft @BarbaraTheBibliophage 1y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa For instance, I‘m in a #StarWarsBuddyRead we are now voting on what book we want to read for January. Anyone can join who is interesting in reading the new canon books with a group. If anyone expresses interest I try to tag them then going forward. But there‘s lots to pick from depending on your interests. You can even start your own group if you want. 1y
Bookishthoughts Litsy can be overwhelming sometimes💗 a lot of what you see is people just doing their own thing and people discuss along with them. A lot of #buddyread #readalong #litsyswaps #litsyhappenings #challenge a lot of hashtags😊 and some people so monthly photo challenges like I've been doing a #poetrymatters challenge so everyday of Nov there is a word prompt that ypull post to match or how you interpret it. 1y
Bookishthoughts I know @TK-421 does a #Quotsy challenge and @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks and @vkois88 do a book/photo challenge every month. And alwaysbeenaloverofbooks does a read along/buddy read for pre chosen books. @InLibrisVeritas does a Syfy buddy read. SO MUCH😂😂 I hope that helps you down the rabbit hole🌠🙌💗 1y
KrystleTheBookSlayer You're not a dinosaur, it's really hard to keep up with all the events available. Don't be afraid to ask a question & as others have said @LitsyHappenings is a good profile to follow. 1y
gradcat Omigod, you guys are so great!! Thank you so very much @Victoriahoperose, @Riveted_Reader_Melissa, @TheKidUpstairs, @LazyDays & @KrystleTheBookSlayer!! So much help—you don‘t know how much I appreciate it! I was feeling lost (is it too corny to say, “but now I‘m found?”)! Yay!! 🥰🥰🥰 1y
Bookishthoughts Anytime!💗💗⭐⭐⭐⭐ 1y
Kaye If you see something of interest, reply to it. The original poster should then include you ( tag you by name ), so you‘ll get notifications about upcoming dates for next reads, dates to have exchanges mailed out, etc. Litsy is a pretty fast- moving area. Kinda like reddit. You can also take a screenshot of something of interest so you can look at it later for reminders of dates and people. You‘ll get the hang of it. (edited) 1y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @gradcat Not at all corny, We were all in the same boat when we started, and just as overwhelmed... but it‘s such a friendly place for any readers. I think most of us feel like we‘ve found our tribe here. As a newbie, my first suggestion is to search books you loved and follow a few people who also loved that book. It will get you started with a feed of people who enjoy similar books and give you great recommendations. 1y
gradcat @Kaye Thank you sooo much! 1y
StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego Your not old or stupid! Litsy is just a bit tricky to navigate when you're looking for specifics like that. There isn't really any one place to go. You can follow @LitsySwaps & @LitsyHappenings they share upcoming events as often as possible. I found tho the best way to get involved is to just follow more Littens. Most things are just word of mouth. 1y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I cohost a buddy read with @thebookhippie and @MrsV each month. It‘s #BotmBuddyRead We select a book from #BOTM and have suggested reading for each week and discussion every Sunday at 1 pm CST! We would love for you to join us!! 1y
TheBookHippie Hashtags #BOTMBUDDYREAD feel free to join us!!! #shakespearereadalong #mgbuddyread are ones I participate in. Really just follow then comment if you like it or want to join -I've found the community to be very welcoming and open. It takes a bit! I still miss things !!! 1y
gradcat Thanks to @Birdsong28 & @StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego! @TheBookHippie The #BOTMBUDDYREAD is one I have a question about. Where are you getting the book-of-the other books? 1y
Birdsong28 I am reading mine on Kindle but Book Of The Month is subscription service for books so some Littens who have subscribed have started a buddy read each month but as long as you have a copy you can join in! @gradcat 1y
gradcat @Birdsong28 Gotcha! Thanks for the info! 1y
vkois88 Thanks @LazyDays ❤❤❤ @gradcat we'd love to have you join us in our photo challenges! 1y
gradcat @vkois88 I am doing one photo challenge and I like it...it‘s fun! I‘m sure I‘ll do more once I get the hang of everything. I‘m one of those bizarre beings who rarely even used my camera before Litsy, so it‘s like a new hobby for me, lol! 1y
LibrarianRyan First off, don‘t insult yourself. A question is never wrong if you don‘t know the answer. Lots of excellent advise the up above. The longer your on the more you catch. Something as just yearly or sporadic. Like I sporadically update the #authorsoflitsy list. I will start #Litsy awards next month, and most swap leaders hold onto their swap titles. Like I run the #makerswap. One of the best swaps is the Goes Postal swap which usually takes place 4 1y
LibrarianRyan Times a year, but is currently on hiatus. The others is just look at some of your favorite books, see who is posting about it, and follow them or ask questions. The only way to do Litsy “wrong” is to be mean or rude. We are all book lovers. We can debate on a civilized manner, and cause TBR piles to grow exponentially. Have fun. 1y
gradcat @LibrarianRyan Thanks!! You‘re a font of info...I really appreciate it...it helps a lot (and your kindness is much appreciated, too)! 😊😊😊 1y
Trashcanman What works for me is, if I'm frustrated with Litsy is to throw the phone out the window. Pick a random God to curse and immediately run outside like an idiot to get the phone. All while whispering sweet nothings to the phone promising I won't do it again. 1y
gradcat @Trashcanman You are so funny—a text a day from you would be ideal...as it is, you make me smile (and sometimes laugh out loud) every time I read one of your notes 📝 ❤️😊 1y
Cinfhen Hi @gradcat we just posted the prompts and sign up link for #booked2019 Its a year long challenge consisting of 24 book prompts that you can choose to read over the course of the year. It‘s low key, no pressure and every prompt you complete earns you a chance to be entered in a quarterly drawing. Check it out 1y
gradcat @Cinfhen Okay, please forgive me, but all I find is a page listing a few books, no sign-in, etc. What am I doing wrong? I‘ve been terribly ill for the last day or two, so maybe I missed something? Sorry to ask again 😞😞 1y
Cinfhen Hope you‘re feeling better. Here‘s the link https://goo.gl/forms/5jbH9jk5TaNPTvKt2
All the info you need should be on the sign up page
gradcat @Cinfhen Oh, thanks so much! Sorry I‘m such a dinosaur, lol! 1y
Cinfhen No problem 😊 1y
TheReadingMermaid Hey there sweetheart! If you're not following me already please go ahead and do so. I run a lot of fun stuff like readathon #24B4Monday on the last weekend of every month. I also host swaps periodically. And I do buddy reads. The one that is going on now is #1MoreScaryStory and I am hosting the #HPBuddyRead starting in January. Also working on a scavenger hunt for next year 🔎📖🕯️ 1y
gradcat @TheReadingMermaid Hiya! I am following you, and I really appreciate your info here...I‘ll look into everything—scavenger hunt sounds brilliant! 😊😊😊 1y
Tremellow Hey, I keep seeing people say repost but how would you do that? I don‘t see any options to repost. 1y
gradcat @Tremellow I‘m sort of new, but I think what you‘re referring to is reposting by way of picture. You take a screen grab-type of photo of the blurb you want to repost, then you add your comments and/or responses to the space. You have to use the blurb function, and you must remember to include any hashtags and/or @ handles...does this help at all? 1y
gradcat @Tremellow Oh, and you find the blurb function in the + sign menu, where you will also find the quote function and the review function. 1y

Day 1 of Camp NaNoWriMo, and I‘m already ahead of schedule on my word count! Don‘t know if I‘ll be able to keep this pace up, but it‘s a good start. Anyone else doing Camp NaNo? #nanowrimo #litsywriters #authorsoflitsy #writer #author

mrozzz Yay! You can do it 👏🏻 2y
Jess_Franzino @mrozzz Thanks ♥️ I just wish I wasn‘t feeling too brain dead to write more at the moment. Lol 2y
Ciannait I‘ve never had an interest in doing it mainly because I tend to hate schedules when it comes to writing. However, I have tremendous respect for people who do! Good luck! 2y

Jess_Franzino @Ciannait I gave it a try for the first time back in November, and surprisingly made it to 50,000. Did Camp back in April, but wasn‘t able to keep up. Hopefully this month goes better than April. 2y
Ciannait @Jess_Franzino I hope it goes well for you! 2y
