I was off from work all of last week & was able to read A LOT. Out of the 13 books finished during my PTO, these are my favorites (in no order):
*A. Cessre- Influencer
*J. Ketchum - Offspring
*R. Brautigan - In Watermelon Sugar
*W. Mosley - Long Fall

Ruthiella 13 books in one week ! 🤯 😂👏👏👏 23h
LeahBergen Nice!! 👍 20h
AnnCrystal 👏🏼🥳👍🏼📚💫. 19h

AmyG Wow! What a great week off. 15h
BarbaraBB Fab week! And beautiful illustration 15h
Liz_M IWS is such a weird, delightful read. 14h
sarahbarnes Lovely! I don‘t know any of these - off the read their summaries! 13h
KT1432 Doing a bunch of reading on PTO sounds like a dream!! Oh, and I have you to thank for In Watermelon Sugar lol. I listened to it on a road trip this weekend and it‘s my kind of carrying on. 🤣 Surreal and really strange but I loved it! Such a short book and somehow got me so invested lol. 13h
vivastory @KT1432 I'm glad you liked it! Perfect narrator for the wackiness of the story 7h
merelybookish Sounds lovely!! 4h

Apparently I have no sense of time, because I just googled how many days are left in the year & 😭 ☠️🤯
My question, just out of curiosity, is are there any specific books that you definitely want to finish before the end of the year...or is it just mood reading? I had a couple big doorstoppers planned for 2025, but I'm going to have to choose one of them as I'm such a mood reader.

Megabooks I planned to do a longer book or two but have barely managed to finish any over 500 pages. Idk what the holiday months have in store for me, but hopefully a lot of reading time!! 5d
AmyG Mood reading for me. I have a feeling I‘ll be busy…so hoping to get in a few more. 5d
lil1inblue There's a history chunkster that I've spent most of the year reading (with a few breaks) that I really don't want to carry into 2026. It's doable if I stop going down the rabbit holes it inspires. Other than that, December is going to be a palette cleanser month because October and November reading got heavy. 🫠 5d

Chrissyreadit I have been obsessively reading books that let me escape from the world. 5d
vivastory @Megabooks I hope you get some extra reading time in & it's great to hear from you 📚📚 5d
vivastory @AmyG Hopefully you can find some reading time 📚📚 I feel like the post Halloween holidays are my version of groundhog's day: already? Again? Lolol I've only read 1 from my 10 before the end list & I'm going to count it a complete success if I read two more from that list before the end of the year 5d
vivastory @lil1inblue I completely understand about the chunkster... one of my favorites of the year is going to be a book that I dipped into throughout the year and just finished I think in September. I do prefer a bit of a low key ending to the year: love the mystery holiday events lol 5d
vivastory @Chrissyreadit I have read very little NF the past couple of years because of what a disaster things are right now.... people who dismiss readers who escape into novels don't realize how restorative & reenergizing they can be 5d
TheBookHippie December is total mood fluff read. I‘ve read 90 percent NF this year as opposed to 70/80 NF - and I need the break. I don‘t actually read much fluff so this means art, food, travel, design and maybe a holiday book. 🙃 Having a hard time comprehending next week is Thanksgiving. 5d
vivastory @TheBookHippie I know 😭😭 I'm off this week and the end of the month is my busiest time at work...so, I predict 3 very stressful days next week (again, groundhog's day syndrome is kicking in....How is a week of from tomorrow thanksgiving 🦃😭☠️) 5d
AnnCrystal Hoping to at least finish my two current reads: the sixth book in the Old Kingdom series and the third book in the Riley Thorn mysteries 🤞🏼☺️🤞🏼📚💫. 5d
KT1432 I wanted to finally read The Radium Girls via audio. The original audiobook sounds like an AI robot despite being recorded before AI became a thing lol. I recently saw a new narrator and thought “omg, they re-recorded it!” Downloaded the Libby copy and was pleasantly surprised it was only 7 hours. Well it turns out it‘s the young reader‘s version and the original is 16 hours. I‘ll have to read a physical copy but I doubt it will be this year. 5d
Chelsea.Poole I‘m with you..the year is quickly slipping away. I have been listening to the Book Riot podcast lately and they‘ve been discussing this very thing. I think I‘m going to attempt to cram in a few more 2025 releases that have made “best of” lists. And the ultimate goal is to finish the two I‘ve dipped in and out of all year: Priestdaddy and Olive Kitteridge. They‘re backlist so I keep prioritizing new titles. Oh and graphic novels for sure! 5d
Megabooks @vivastory thanks! I had an anaphylactic reaction earlier this month and was hospitalized for a bit, so it‘s been a rough month. 5d
TimEW Interest and mood for me. The only time line I‘m on is maybe another 20 years (unless I lose all my faculties before then). I have hundreds of books on my “to read” list, and for some reason the list keeps growing. 🙃🙏 4d
TimEW @TheBookHippie 👍Most of my reading is also NF. I do slid in a few fictional books during the year. 4d
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick In a perfect world, I'll read a book a day! In actuality, if I can finish 10-12 of those I need to finish the #192025 challenge, I'll be happy. I'm hoping vacation days & holiday time off gives me reading time & not headaches. 3d
Reggie I have Joe Hill‘s doorstopper from the library and the rest is mood. 2d
merelybookish I have a Flavia De Luce mystery lined up for December and plan to tackle a few from the TOB longlist. 4h

What am I #grateful for? Every year at Thanksgiving we take turns saying one thing we are thankful for & for many years now my answer has been: books. It is of course, the characters, entertainment & wisdom that they have provided. Friends, really 💙 Also, all the wonderful connections I have made in the nearly decade (!!) I have been on Litsy, the best social media site for talking about books.

Library therapy wins over retail therapy imo (gentler on the wallet). Swallows is the new one by Kirino, author of Out

Ruthiella For sure. Plus, circulation for the library helps it justify its existence. Win-Win-Win! 👏👏👏 4w
vivastory @Ruthiella I'm definitely doing my part for library circulation 📚📚📚📚 4w
Reggie I‘ve only read one by Matt Serafini but I love his writing. Hope it‘s good. 4w

Reggie Yes!!!! Love that book. 4w
vivastory @Reggie it's been on my Kindle ever since shades of orange praised it 4w
vivastory @Reggie I think you will like Lamb .. seems like it's one of the best current examples of female rage/cannibalism. Also: do you have movies lined up for tomorrow? If so, share! 4w
Reggie @vivastory I‘m behind on this year‘s movies. I‘m dressing up, going out to eat with a friend, and then going to karaoke. What are you gonna watch? 4w

Getting back into my #audiocrochet habit lately. I've missed combining two of my favourite things, reading and crocheting 📚 🧺 ❤️

KadaGul Work has been hectic lately, and balancing work and life feels like a distant dream. 4mo
ShyBookOwl @KadaGul I'm sorry. It is very hard to balance responsibilities and fun/hobbies. Hang in there! 4mo
Sace I‘ve been trying to do the same. Even if it‘s just a short chapter a day. By the time it cools off here my socks (knit) and cardigan (crochet) will be done. 4mo
ShyBookOwl @Sace That's perfect timing! 4mo

#Two4Tuesday
1. My reading goal is 48 books. The last few years I've set it at that and it allows for wiggle room.
Hosting challenges #FoodandLit and #RiseUpReads

2. I don't have a specific book, but I've enjoyed reading the books I already own so I want to continue that

Texreader ♥️♥️♥️ and btw, I loved the Christmas card!! So adorable! 11mo
Catsandbooks @Texreader Thank you! 🐶❤️ 11mo
