TrishB We‘re going to have to know what didn‘t make it 5 stars next week! Hoping to get to this weekend. 2y
Cortg Oooh, my daughter‘s reading this. The author graduated from the college she‘s attending 😀 2y

jenniferw88 @Cinfhen @4thhouseontheleft @BarbaraTheBibliophage just changed the prompt for #booked2022 as I don't think I'm going to get to my China book, and this one is set in China(town)! And I'm sure I'll find another #comingoutstory! 2y
rockpools You‘ve reminded me I still need to review this one. I really enjoyed it! 2y
Cinfhen I‘ve heard great things about this one!! 2y
Cortg I‘m glad you liked it! I‘m waiting for my daughter to finish before I start it. Hopefully she finishes before she heads back to school 🙄 2y
KarenUK I love the prompt use (Chinatown!) I think I might steal that idea! 2y
squirrelbrain Great prompt choices! 2y

This is a wonderful read about Cyprus and love. Greek and Turkish people have lived separately for ages at the island, but Kostas and Isabella know how to find each other across visible and invisible borders. The fig tree is their witness and has always been.
Quite special! Thank you for choosing this book for me Meg!

It‘s kinda bad when you enjoy the build more than the reveal. I feel like heading to a deserted island with strangers is like running up the stairs in a horror movie!! 😂

I‘m a huge believer in having a character‘s choices make sense in the world the author has built, and many thrillers (including this one) fail at that. The twist at the end, while fun, just didn‘t make sense for the MC. Maybe I just need to relax my standards for 🧠🍭 books. 🤔

Cinfhen Hahaha LOVE your analogy!!! I enjoyed this for what it was and didn‘t really think too much. But of course you‘re right if you stop to think 🤔 I enjoyed the narration too!! And the cover is SPECTACULAR 2y
Megabooks @Cinfhen yeah, it is probably good to not think as much when reading a 🧠🍭 book, but sometimes I can‘t turn it off! And I kept wanting to scream at her, “don‘t you know you‘re in a thriller!!” 😂😂😂😂 2y

MallenNC Yes, our reviews are pretty similar. I just wanted it to be more exciting. I agree the ending wasn‘t really earned based on what we knew of the MC. 2y
ShelleyBooksie I had the same issue with this book 2y
Megabooks @MallenNC @ShelleyBooksie yeah, the MCs actions just made little sense at the end. Problematic book for sure. 2y
bthegood I think in fiction it is called “suspension of disbelief“ - 😂 2y
Megabooks @bthegood yes! My parents always used that phrase about action movies when I was a kid. 2y
