Mistermandolin @LeahBergen The case I found was in Southfield Road, Ponder‘s End. About a mile and a half from the case Guy Playfair investigated. I came across it when I was researching a book I was writing on unusual lights. The Ponder‘s End case has never been published but I have a large file on it. Standard poltergeist stuff but other phenomena too. Playfair was at a lecture I gave and we discussed the case afterwards. 5y

Mistermandolin @LeahBergen I suggested to him that the two cases were linked: that the same entity had produced both sets of events. He wouldn‘t have it. He said that polt phenomena were always ‘person centred‘ but I disagree. They‘re ‘zonal‘. It‘s like the poltergeist actually ‘lives‘ somewhere and becomes active from time to time. 5y

Mistermandolin @LeahBergen Glad you found it interesting. One (rare) thing I found when looking at the Southfield Road events was levitation of the witness. Same with the instance Guy Playfair writes about. I came across the case when writing my book ‘Lightforms‘. I‘m at www.markfox.co.uk in case you want to have a look. 5y

After reading about the ghost that haunts this novel, I bet the protagonists wish they‘d said “don‘t haunt this place”. This is a gorgeous gothic novel that gets very weird and uncomfortable. A marmite book that some people can‘t stand. When I first finished it I felt squeamish but now I look back on it fondly. I wish Niffenger would write more novels!

Cinfhen I didn‘t enjoy TTW which I know you did, Flea! So I‘m worried about this one🤷‍♀️but I see lots of my favorite readers loved it too!!! 6y

Centique @Cinfhen it‘s very different to TTW. As if she was playing with the idea of time travel in that one, in this one it‘s ghosts. Apart from ghosts it‘s very realistic. If the idea of ghosts doesn‘t feel too unreal for you, you might like it! 6y

#donthauntthisplace #TimbitTunes This book , Mailers longest at 1300 pages.Its subject,the CIA thru the eyes of Harry Hubbard in the era of the Cuban revolution,the Mafia in the 1960s,&the Kennedy assassination.So it mixes real & fictional characters.I remember liking it. It was supposed to have a sequel,Harlot‘s Grave ,but between time and other projects,it never got written.
