Semi-lazy #readingresolutions catch-up post. #East #West
I read a ton of books by Jean Fritz in 5th and 6th grade. I was homeschooled from 5th grade through the end of high school, and my mom used the local public library a lot, to supplement traditional textbooks/curriculum. That‘s how I found Jean Fritz, who was possibly also my first foray into historical fiction.
When you have a book with both #east and #west in the title, the Litsy post almost writes itself 😄

Some interesting books I‘ve read set in the #east / far #east

The 'east' books on my shelves tend to be cookbooks from South-East Asia and the Middle East. Here's a bunch that I own with east in the title. 🥄📚😋 #cookbooks
May 29: #readingresolutions #east... hey, they travel to the Far East... #anotherstretch
Caputo's account of his Vietnam experience is, along with Michael Herr's Dispatches, one of the most powerful and horrifying accounts of war I have ever read.
In the words of my 12th grade social studies teacher: "If you remember only one thing from this class, remember this: war is hell."

My senior English teacher at West Bend East saw my love of literature and encouraged me to share it through teaching. I had never considered teaching to that point as I‘m a hardcore introvert. She even invited me back to teach a unit on the tagged book because she liked how I wrote about and discussed it. It‘s one of those books that you love or hate. I think about it and her class to this day.
