My #december TBR is going to be all challenge books I think. Time to buckle down. The good news is after I finish my current audiobook, I only have one book to go for #booked2018 (and if anyone has a suggestion for #underdogMC I am all ears!)

As for #pop18 I probably have 6-7 prompts to go. We‘re also having a family mark-up book club so I have to finalize and read my choice for that.

Wish me luck!! #winterwonderland

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks You can do it!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 5y
Cinfhen You Can make it happen!!! But there might be some #FakeReading involved 😉As for #UnderdogHero click on the hash tag and scroll through what others read. There were some very clever and fun choices 🥰I used 5y
TrishB Good luck !! 5y

Life After Life: A Novel | Kate Atkinson

#SeptemberDanes I‘m pretty sure this will be an #UnpopularOpinion but I HATED this book. The story is repeatedly looping back in time, offering alternative possible lives for its central character, Ursula Todd. It just drove me crazzzy!!! Every few pages was #dejaVous 😬😖I ended up #FakeReading this book and skipping the sequel, A God In Ruins.

robinb I hate the looping stuff too...makes me loopy! 🤪🤪🤪 In some books, it starts to just feel like filler to me...🤷🏻‍♀️ 6y
Cinfhen I think in this case it was more of a structural concept @robinb but it drove me nuts🤪 I‘m kind of feeling annoyed again, just thinking about it😂 6y
robinb @Cinfhen been there, done that. ✅ 6y

TrishB Great minds 👍🏻 I was going to do this one , and guess what - I hated it too!! I‘m a massive Atkinson fan but this just annoyed me soooo much. I kept saying to the book - just tell the bloody story. But - A God in Ruins is brilliant 💕 I‘m starting her new one today. 6y
emilyhaldi Sounds AWFUL.. Why do I have this stacked?!? 6y
Kalalalatja My thoughts exactly @emilyhaldi 😂 6y
Centique Oh I love this but it is totally okay that you guys don‘t @Cinfhen @TrishB 😂😂 Don‘t give up on it @emilyhaldi you never know - some love it, some don‘t. 6y
Cathythoughts I don‘t think I‘ve ever read her ! I love the red rose 🌹 6y
Lidia I DNF this book for the same reason. It was getting so repetitive... 6y
BookwormM I loved this one and hated A God in Ruins as it is nothing like this so maybe you would like it 🤣🤣 6y
Cinfhen That‘s funny @BookwormM @TrishB maybe I should try but you know the saying #SoManyBooksSoLittleTime 6y
Cinfhen @Kalalalatja @emilyhaldi so many people LOVED this one, including @Centique but it wasn‘t for me or @Lidia 😜🤨 (edited) 6y
CarolynM I liked Life After Life a lot, the point was how little things affect or don't affect the way a life turns out. I'm not sure how else you could illustrate this so fully. Please try it @emilyhaldi @Kalalalatja A God in Ruins has a much more traditional structure so if it was only the structure you didn't like @Cinfhen I would urge you to try that one because I just loved it, it was a lot more emotionally engaging than LAL 👇 (edited) 6y
CarolynM and you don't have to have read LAL to understand it, it is totally stand alone. Have you read it @Centique ? I think you'd like Kate Atkinson @Cathythoughts. Her Jackson Brodie books (Case Histories, One Good Turn, When Will There Be a Good News, Started Early a Took My Dog) are intelligent and involving detective stories, I love them even more than A God in Ruins. 6y
CarolynM @BookwormM What was it you didn't like about A God in Ruins? 6y
TheBookKeepers I think that would drive me a little nutters too!! Lol! 6y
Gaylagal2 I have to say that I bailed on it too. I really, really wanted to like this book but way too much back and forth and I just couldn't get into the characters. 🤓 6y
Centique @CarolynM I haven‘t read that one yet. But I loved loved Behind the Scenes at the Museum. I think she can write a variety of styles - I have read one of hers I didn‘t like - can‘t remember which now though! 6y
LeeRHarry This book drive me mad! But I loved 6y
eanderson I have this book and haven‘t read it yet... probably for this reason! 😕 6y
Heatherfeather On one hand I'm always sad that someone doesn't love the books I love, but then I remember that's one of the greatest attributes of books in general: the many emotions and reactions they spark in different people. 😊 6y
Breanne1 I felt the same way about this book...so glad I wasn‘t the only one driven nuts by it. 6y
NeeSwee I didn‘t like this one either! 6y
Pamwurtzler This book made me crazy; I‘m glad to see I‘m not alone. 😀 6y
Cinfhen Oh WOW💕💕💕so happy to see so many HATERS 😜 @Pamwurtzler @NeeSwee @Breanne1 @leerharry @Gaylagal2 but I will try one of her other books @TheBookKeepers @Centique @CarolynM @eanderson @Heatherfeather 💚🤪 6y
BookwormM @CarolynM I loved Life After Life so much and I was expecting a similar structure to A God in Ruins when it was a traditional linear story I was really disappointed 6y
Reviewsbylola I think I disliked this one too but all I remember is that I read it. 😂 (edited) 6y
Dragon I did not like this book. I love her mysteries but this one was just too repetitive. @Cinfhen I skipped the sequel because I could care less about the characters. 🐉😀 6y
Cinfhen That‘s pretty much how I felt @Dragon and still do 6y
Dragon Thanks @Cinfhen so glad I‘m not alone. 😀🐉 6y

Mehso-so

I absolutely didn't realize this was "American Gods #2" ??‍♀️ Oh well. It was a good read, got a little wordy so I was skimming a bit. I love Gaiman though. ❤️#fakereading #gaimanfan #3stars

DeborahSmall #fakereading 😂👍🏼 7y
readinginthedark Oh, does it take place after American Gods? I didn't realize they were connected either! 7y
ItsAngel @readinginthedark yes! I'm told it doesn't matter though. 😊 7y
