Pickpick

This is an abridged version of the original book, with beautiful forest photography from around the world. The writing isn‘t the best, possibly a combo of the translation from German and the abridgment. But for me still interesting and worth reading to absorb the nature pics. Still lots of good info! I may pick up the full book at some point. 🌲🌳🌿💚

Fr3NcHtOaSt The full book was amazing. I need to check this one out. 8mo

Gorgeously illustrated abridged version of the author's work on trees and forests. The prose seemed a bit clunky in places with abrupt transitions and unclear references but I'm not sure whether this was due to the author, the translator, or the abridgement. Even so, the main points on the complex life of forests as communities of trees come across.

Inspired by @BookmarkTavern . #PhotoChallenge #Scarathlon Day 3.

A number of these are by Tom Adams, who did the best Christie covers.

Mehso-so

An impulse checkout from the library! This was a super fun book to look through because I love imaginative architecture. I also loved the illustrations of each treehouse and the variety of structures counted as treehouses. For a photo book, some of the photos were surprisingly so-so. The blurbs also didn't always add much to my understanding of each structure. #Treehouse #Architecture #PhotoBook

LiteraryinPA Wow, so evocative! 1y

Pickpick

I spent part of yesterday perusing this big photography book. Most of it is great, obviously it focuses on animal eyes, with lots of close ups. There were quite a few very blurry photos that may have been included to impress on the reader how difficult animals are as models, but I think they could have been left out. Favorite shot: a bonobo who seems to be doing yoga 😁.

Thanks for tagging me in #ThoughtfulThursday by @MoonWitch94 , @julesG and @RamsFan1963 ‼️

⛰ “Fool on the Hill” by Matt Ruff and all 5 volumes of “The Hitchhiker‘s Guide to the Galaxy” by Douglas Adams.

🎨 Sometimes. Very seldom. I mostly decide after reading the summary or on the basis of knowing the author. Or if it was recommended by a friend.

MoonWitch94 Thanks for playing 📚☺️🌿 4y
