Sorcery and Small Magics by Maiga Doocy was my only five star read of the month, so an easy pick for October. Unfortunately, I think Anxious People beats it out to the semi-final spot.

CSeydel Looking good! 4d
rachelsbrittain I feel like I can't even be mad about this since I'm the one that recommended Anxious People to you in the first place 😅 3d
sebrittainclark @rachelsbrittain There's a very good chance that the final showdown will be books you recommend to me. 3d

Rivals Leo and Grimm have to work together, which wouldn't be ideal on a normal day, but due to an accidental curse Leo now has to obey his rival's every command. And as if using forbidden magic wasn't enough to undo the curse they have to go into the Unquiet Wood, a forbidden forest full of monsters and lethal flora. There they might find a legendary sorcerer who can undo the curse with a counterspell, or they ⬇️

julesG might die trying. And no, they cannot ask their teachers, because that would get them expelled.

I really enjoyed this first book in a new series. The writing and pacing of this debut novel were good and kept my attention throughout the story.

I'm looking forward to the next book in this series.

I'm posting the #BookScavengerHunt prompts in order & today is 'Animal'.

This is a book based on Korean folklore. I've not read it so no idea if it is any good or not. Thought it fitted in well with the month & daily themes.

5feet.of.fury I‘ve read it! It was pretty cute, pacing was a little iffy. 3w

5/5

Leo and Grimm have notoriously cannot get along. But when they're partnered together in a class and accidentally place a curse on Leo, they're forced to journey into the Unquiet Wood, to try to find a cure.

I loved this book so much. The magic system and the characters are wonderful, and I really look forward to future books revealing more of the mysteries of the world, and to see how the relationship between Leo and Grimm evolves.

The plot and world building of this book are so good.
A former slave learns to wield her magic so that she can end slavery for good.
There is a slow burn romance on the side, lots of character development, and very intriguing side characters.
I look forward to the next book!

The tagged book was my favorite read in August, but it wasn‘t better than a Tempest of Tea for me.

My favorite read of September was a Fall of Wrath and Ruin.

I totally love this story. I just don't understand Fallon. She can be seriously stupid at one time and then she suddenly becomes intelligent.
Not sure whether I can include Fallon in my list of Hated-Heroines.
