A solid found AND birth family book with some non-scary ghost stuff thrown in. Lots of Jewish culture and experience as well. A great #queer #trans romance! #summerreading #summerjob
What a good ending to this duology. I enjoyed this one more than the first! Rune and Gideon have to work together and trust each other but of course there are still tons of secrets and betrayals. Lots of twists and surprises. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I received this as an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.
My feelings on this book are mixed. I really like this fantasy world established in the previous book-though this goes into an entirely different direction. I like the lovable cast of characters and super cute dragons.
What I struggled with was the romance.⬇️
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“Empire of Shadows” was a fun and witty adventure that felt reminiscent of “The Mummy” (insert the confident declaration of “I am a librarian” quote here because I got those vibes as well). I really enjoyed Ellie‘s and Adam‘s characters and their story, and I‘m looking forward to see what the next book holds!
