The Creators did not expect their beloved dragons to sail skyward upon their end. To curl into balls just beyond gravity's grip, littering the sky with tombstones. With moons. They certainly did not expect them to fall. As a valued Elding Blade of the rebellion group Fur du Ath, Raeve's job is to kill. To complete orders and never get caught. When a renowned bounty hunter is employed by The Crown to capture a member of the Ath, Raeve's world is turned upside down. Blood spills, hearts break, and Raeve finds herself at the mercy of the Guild of Nobles-a group of dual-beaded elementals who intend to turn her into a political statement. Only death will set her free. Crushed beneath a mourning weight, Kaan Vaegor took the head of a king and donned his melted crown. Now on a tireless quest to assuage the never-ebbing ache in his chest, his hunt for a moonshard lures him into the belly of Gore's notorious prison where he stumbles upon something that rips apart his perception of reality. A shackled miracle with eyes full of rage and blood on her hands. The echo of the past sings louder than the Creators themselves, and even Raeve can't ignore the truths blaring at her from a warmer, happier time. However. There's more to this song than meets the eye, and some truths ... They're too poisonous to swallow. When the Moon Hatched is a fast-paced fantasy romance for fans of witty banter and strong, sassy protagonists. Beneath the cover is an immersive, vibrant world with mysterious creatures, a unique magic system, and a love that blazes through the ages.

This book was a bit disappointing. I may have had higher expectations but still. It was good but not great. I do look forward to the sequel and did enjoy this one after a bit past the halfway point. The audio was good. It just had way to much going on in the descriptions. It could have been much shorter. The female, Raeve, used to many descriptions and was childish in parts. I loved the narrators.

Took me way too long to read this book compared to others … had high hopes since everyone hyped this book up
It was okey don‘t get me wrong but a lot happens for nothing happening at all at the same time (hope you get what I mean) 🐉

I loved this epic fantasy chunkster. Our tough female assassin is so bent on revenge she has no interest in recovering the past. She does not see that love could be better than vengeance. The world building was great and reminded me of Priory of the Orange Tree- so if you loved that one you should def read this! I can‘t wait for book 2 next year! #serieslove2024 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book is a 🌶️ fantasy romance (I didn‘t realize just how spicy when I bought it, but I‘m not mad about it lol). There‘s a trigger warning in the beginning with the full list of triggers in the back. There‘s a lot of cuss words, detailed descriptions of gorey fight/torture scenes, and a few 🔥🔥🔥 love scenes. So a bit of thick skin is required for this one. But if you‘re able to stomach all that, then quite the adventure is waiting… ⬇️

jen_the_scribe Raeve is as tough as they get, an assassin from a rebel group with a lot of mystery shrouding her past. Kaan is a king, tough when he needs to be but with a soft heart. When they finally meet in person, you learn that they have history but the truths of that are unveiled slowly, and the more you learn the more you fall in love with these characters. Sometimes I wanted to grab Raeve by the shoulders and shake her for the choices she‘s made. ⬇️ 2mo
jen_the_scribe But as we learn more of her past, you begin to understand why she made the choices she did. And it just breaks your heart. And in between all of this are beautiful descriptions of a breathtaking world full of elemental magic, dragons, and their tombs that become moons in the sky. If you can‘t tell by now, I LOVED this story. My only complaint is that I have to wait until next year for the sequel 😫 2mo

Raeve works as an assassin to the revolutionary group against the current king. When she gets caught she is sent to be executed only to find herself being whisked away in the mouth of a dragon. She only has vengeance on her mind after losing one close to her but her savior is determined to bring up past memories she‘s buried deep within herself. Such an amazing book! If you like big books and the genre just do yourself a favor k?😉

Love the hand drawn dragon used for the chapter headers in this book. And I‘m loving the story so far, I hate when I have to put it down to be an adult lol.

I absolutely loved this book that is the first of a series and now am anxiously searching for book two‘s release date (which I can‘t locate) bc I must know what happens next and need to know how long I have to wait. I was lucky enough to snag a Waterstones special edition. It‘s with my recently finished Kaida Wooble dragon. ❤️🐉

I wanted to like this book. The world building was pretty cool and I liked the magical system of harnessing a god‘s power. But the characters drove me nuts. Mainly Raeve. Also, so many side quests kept occurring. I finished the book because I did (mostly) enjoy the main storyline. I felt like there were a lot of pages for very little story movement.

This novel might be the prettiest book of the year (looks really nice inside too). The mythology lesson at the beginning is quite interesting as well. Sadly, I‘ve got nothing more positive to say. The writing is supposed to be poetical, but it‘s just sentence after sentence shredded through a thesaurus. The FMC is annoying and overuses the word “c*ck” a lot. Romance goes from Enemies to Lovers in 5 pages.

I'm a huge sucker for a fantasy story involving magic and dragons, so I obviously gave this 5 stars.
This story has everything. Magic, dragons, mystery, plot twists, love, heartaches etc, etc.
Of course, it ends with a cliffhanger, I hope book two is just as good!

I loved this book. The world building is insane and the characters are expansive. I wish we knew more about the magic system, though, with the elemental songs element. Kaan is DEFINITELY a mix of Cassian and Rowan because they take no prisoners to getting their woman to take responsibility and be better. I had to take back a star because that ending tried hard to set up a Devastating cliffhanger and just missed the mark. I‘m invested either way
