Cute & fun Oct listen, Riley goes to the island at bequest of her aunt hoping to learn about her recently-passed mother‘s family & finds out she is a witch & caretaker to a houseful of ghosts. pickThis was a very cute endearing story about loneliness & family & community. A wonderful read for October made even more special from the gifts opened at numbered pages throughout the book. Sorry for the bad pic but the 4 gifts are 1) Mika‘s Can‘t-Do-Withouts (6 essential oils) 2) Witch‘s Cookbook 3) Cauldron-shaped bath bombs & a “Witches Brew” spoon 4) key-shaped bottle opener in a little Sense and Sensibility book box. This audiobook short story is not in the Litsy database yet. Only OK for me-a good quick listen (about 45 min) but not spooky enough. The MC, Sally, is volunteering in the Death House in a living Victorian history museum when she falls asleep in the hearse & travels through time where she meets ghost Nathaniel & determines if she wants to be with him forever instead of her husband. (I found her annoying.)

This middle grade book reminded me of one I read growing up. I liked the idea of it, but ultimately it just wasn‘t that great with uneven story telling, fairly wooden dialogue & some bad editing with random words just seemingly thrown into sentences 🤷🏻♀️however, it was a quick read & netted me 397 #ScarathlonWordSearch words for 3970 points for #TeamMonsterMash

An interesting werewolf/horror short story set in Germany in the early days of the end of WWII (free for Kindle Unlimited/Audible or $1.99 otherwise). There are plenty of #lies & propaganda from those loyal to the Nazi party & (relates to modern times unfortunately) while putting it all into legend & horror. A quick & worthy read about how evil finds a home & 1160 word search pts for #TeamMonsterMash ⬇️

pickRead for the #FearfulFall #BuddyRead I‘m giving it a soft pick. By no means perfect, I wanted more plot & character development, but it kept me engaged, I liked Ben & found this an interesting YA take on a sequel. I listened to the audiobook which was well done-the downside being that it would have been a good word search points earner for #Scarathlon2022 #TeamMonsterMash but impossible to drive, listen & record words.🤷🏻♀️Read/listened for⬇️

Finished earlier in the week for #TeamMonsterMash I think it suffered as a section a day #buddyread & picked up at the end when I read it all at once. As some of the others, I had the big twist figured out & found most of the characters annoying so just a so-so for me.
As team buddy read, it gets me 50 points & about 247 #ScararthlonWordSearch points (I may have missed a few) + an extra 15 for a #ScarathlonDailyPrompts bonus ⬇️
