The Heartbreak Bakery | A. R. Capetta

Pickpick

Syd got dumped, then found out they have the ability to influence people‘s emotions with their baked goods, which isn‘t super great when you work at a bakery and are having ALL THE EMOTIONS.
With the help of delivery person, Harley, and a whole lot of soul searching, Syd works on recovering their emotional bakes, saving relationships, saving the safe space the bakery is for the queer community, and figuring out who they are.

I had to bow out of the #TRANSreadathon a bit early due to another commitment, but I managed 6:17 in total! Hurray! I finished four books (one of which I started yesterday morning) and the first 50 pages of ONE LAST STOP. I didn‘t think I was in quite the right mood for it, but I‘m pretty sure I‘ll stick with it now. Even if I do put it down, it‘ll be a break, not a bail.

I took an #audiowalk, then did a couple other hands-on-brain-off things so I could finish ME, MYSELF, THEY. Ferguson‘s story is important, but their prose is heavily influenced by their academic background and their filmmaking; ie, it‘s often pretty purple and they tend to mythologize their life. The book is worth reading for the content, but I know those are stylistic issues for many of y‘all. #TRANSreadathon

The #TRANSreadathon continues! I‘m now at 4:05 reading time. During my last session, I finished FIERCE FEMMES AND NOTORIOUS LIARS by Kai Cheng Thom, listened to a goodly chunk of ME, MYSELF, THEY by Luna M. Ferguson, and read the tagged play in its entirety. It was fabulous. I hope Shraya‘s CBC pilot goes ahead.

I also drank this interesting nonalcoholic beer. The finish reminds me a little of the wheat beer I tried a couple weeks back.

SamAnne There are some much better non-alcoholic beers coming onto the market. 3y
xicanti @SamAnne it seems like they‘ve come a long way just in the last couple years. 3y

It‘s #TRANSreadathon time! I got a bit of a late start last night, but I managed 1:26 before I fell asleep. That took me through DEATH THREAT by Vivek Shraya and Ness Lee, a short story by Neon Yang, and 80 pages of the tagged book.

Which I‘m SO EXCITED to get back to now. It reads like Francesca Lia Block with trans girls and without cultural appropriation. SO GOOD, Y‘ALL!

Friends, I got to ENTER THE LIBRARY tonight! It was just for a holds pickup, but it‘s more than they let us do last week. Next week, it‘s back to (time limited) browsing!

Anyways, tonight I nabbed the last three books I requested for the #TRANSreadathon on the 30th & 31st, plus an X-Men comic that was on order for like two years, moar HEARTSTOPPER, a cookbook, and the next stop on my Wheel of Time reread.
