Pickpick

Anyone else read Misery and think it‘d have more gore to it? (Thank goodness it didn‘t as I squirm a bit when reading gore (looking at you The Ritual)) #stephenking #misery #theritual #adamnevill

“You didn‘t need to be sentient out here, just afraid all the time and quick to act when the world suddenly felt wrong around you; too still, too easy. That‘s when you died out here.” Super Spooky Saturday. So far so good, until it gets dark….

Bird Box: A Novel | Josh Malerman

Ok, my Horrific Group #1! Now that we have got to the fun part - choosing our books - I can‘t bloody well decide. They do look really good together tho; I think subliminally, I went with a color scheme.
I‘d really like to go with a book that no one has read, or that people have had on their TBR for a while, so they‘re excited to read it. *Bird Box and Rosemary‘s Baby are quite a bit shorter than the other 2! I‘d love you to weigh in! #HorrorPost

ephemeralwaltz I haven't read any so they all work for me!👌 I was thinking about sending Joyland by Stephen King - does that work for you guys? 6y
kamoorephoto @ephemeralwaltz Oh, the one set at carnival? That looks pretty interesting... 6y
Reggie I‘m so sorry I‘ve read all of these, but I would love to reread all but the Girl with All the Gifts. Contrary to the Litsy love I hated it. But I‘m cool with the other 3. 6y

Reggie I‘ve read Joyland.( once again so sorry) 6y
Reggie But wouldn‘t mind re reading Joyland either. 6y
kamoorephoto Okay, we have at least two strikes... 6y
kamoorephoto @ephemeralwaltz Do you have some backups, like I did? 6y
kamoorephoto @Reggie What choices do you have? I went into the horror section yesterday and found a TON of stuff I want to read, but I‘m going with things I have at hand. I thought about ‘Hex‘ but someone else might have that on their list (I hope!)... 6y
Reggie I‘m thinking about going with And the Devil Crept In by Ania Ahlborn or Malus Domestica by Hunt. But seriously before I ruin this, I‘ve read a lot of horror, so whatever anybody wants to pick I‘m cool with rereads even THWATG because maybe the journals will give me a different perspective. Also I have to go into work. But I‘m super excited about our group!!!! 6y
ephemeralwaltz I don't own a lot of horror so I have Cujo, The Long Walk, The Haunting of Hill House as other options. If neither of those work I could go get something new. I'd love to read Hex @kamoorephoto 6y
danibolahood I haven't read the girl with all the gifts or Rosemary's baby yet but I'm good with re-reads as well so I'm good with any of the 4 6y
BookishTrish I have read TGWATG but I'm good with the other three! Super excited! 6y
kamoorephoto @Reggie ‘And the Devil Crept In‘ sounds awesome! Yeah, it‘s always interesting to have a read/reread and see what other people‘s perspectives are! @ephemeralwaltz I‘ve been wanting to read ‘The Haunting of Hill House‘! Yes, ‘Hex‘ would be good....still wondering if anyone is doing it. From the ones there I will likely go with ‘Bird Box‘ then to count out some rereads and because of length UNLESS I have more votes for HEX!! 6y
kamoorephoto @BookishTrish Are you keeping mum?! I‘m excited too! 6y
kamoorephoto @danibolahood What‘s on your list? 😊 6y
danibolahood The 3 I picked were the grip of it, the twilight pariah and meddling kids. I tried to find some newer ones that hopefully not everyone had read yet. The Grip of It turned out to be the only one I could find in stock at the book store so I was going to go with that unless anyone had any major objections. It has mixed reviews but it was on at least one best of 2017 list and I'm a sucker for haunted house stories. 6y
BookishTrish I am desperate to read 6y
BookishTrish Are you guys okay if my book is a surprise, or do want options. I'm good with either. 6y
BookishTrish @ephemeralwaltz I've read Joyland too, but look forward to a reread 6y
BookishTrish @Reggie Sweet choices! 6y
danibolahood @BookishTrish I'm good with a surprise 😊 6y
GatheringBooks oh wow! great choices! i have a joe hill in my list too, but not this one. i‘m good with all of these. :) 6y
kamoorephoto I‘ll go with a surprise; you can easily look and see if I‘ve read something on my Goodreads (I doubt I‘ve read it if it‘s horror). Most horror I have read is in YA. I am just hesitant with NOS4A2 because of the length and I think the best length for this kind of book club seems to be up to 350 pages, so that everyone can keep up? Give us a hint?!! 6y
scripturient Surprise is fine with me, too. I‘ve read the upper two but I guess it will happen that we‘ve read one or the other book already, so just pick whatever you think works for you. :) 6y
scripturient @ephemeralwaltz I‘ve read Joyland but would be up for a reread. It‘s so different from King‘s other books. :) @Reggie @danibolahood Haven‘t read any of your choices. 6y
scripturient But hey, if we‘re debating choices, then let me know your thoughts: The Shuddering, The Woman in Black or Dark Matter (the one by Michelle Paver)? 😁 6y
Reggie @scripturient can you do the Woman in Black or Dark Matter, I‘ve read The Shuddering. So have you haven‘t you? 6y
Reggie @BookishTrish can you give us the options? 6y
Reggie @danibolahood I haven‘t read any of your choices, either. 6y
scripturient @Reggie Yes, I remember we discussed it back then. 😊 Ok, so we have two contenders left. What do the others think? 🙂 6y
kamoorephoto I‘m looking through everyone‘s lists now!!! Which Dark Matter? 6y
kamoorephoto I think we have Grip of It for sure... @ephemeralwaltz (edited) 6y
kamoorephoto It looks like all of mine have been read by someone (including Hex and Library at Mount Char, which is another I have)...has no one brought up Into the Drowning Deep? John Dies at The End? *That‘s my crazy choice, if all else fails. 6y
scripturient @kamoorephoto I haven‘t read Drowning Deep or John Dies In The End. 👍🏻 As for Dark Matter - NOT the Blake Crouch one, but the one by Michelle Paver - it‘s set in the Arctic and super creepy. 6y
scripturient @kamoorephoto Yes, that‘s it. 😁 6y
kamoorephoto @scripturient Let‘s do that Dark Matter...I don‘t think I saw it on anyone‘s lists...does anyone have an objection to that? 6y
kamoorephoto Here are three more: 1. The Ritual 2. The Apartment 3. 6y
ephemeralwaltz @danibolahood I'd love to read The Grip of It. @scripturient I'm fine with either!! 6y
ephemeralwaltz I haven't read much horror either so everything works for me @kamoorephoto 6y
danibolahood Oh my I missed a lot while I was asleep. Okay so my official book is the grip of it. I'm happy it seems like everyone is looking forward to it. I'm good with whatever anyone else picks even if it's a reread for me. 6y
BookishTrish @danibolahood I'm super excited for your pick. I hope I'm not too far down the list to get it. I asked for it for Christmas but no bookstores around us had it in stock. 6y
kamoorephoto So, @reggie, am I right, you‘re doing 6y
kamoorephoto And, @ephemeralwaltz you‘re doing ‘The Haunting of Hill House‘? 6y
ephemeralwaltz @kamoorephoto @Reggie @BookishTrish @scripturient @danibolahood I'll do whichever is the least read among all of us. 6y
danibolahood @ephemeralwaltz I haven't read any of the ones you've mentioned so far 6y
kamoorephoto @ephemeralwaltz Yes go for that, so we have a classic...I think it works! 6y
kamoorephoto @GatheringBooks What‘s the scoop??! 📖📖🙏🏼 6y
ephemeralwaltz + @GatheringBooks what do you think? :) 6y
Reggie @ephemeralwaltz I haven‘t read The Haunting of Hill House. 6y
Reggie And yes And the Devil Crept In. 6y
Reggie I haven‘t read Drowning Deep, or The Ritual, or Job of the Wasp. 6y
GatheringBooks hi everyone - our term in the university just started so its crazy times for me - but i am good with whatever book for #ScreamsByMail - in fact, i look forward to being surprised by everyone‘s top choices/picks. 6y
GatheringBooks @BookishTrish - perfectly down with a book surprise - in fact looking forward to it - would it be fine with everyone if i also keep my book choice under wraps for now? ;) unless, of course, you‘d prefer i share the top three picks i indicated? :) (edited) 6y
BookishTrish I'm super keen to read 6y
GatheringBooks @ephemeralwaltz i am a huge stephen king fan - so i am all for this! :) plus, this is one i haven‘t read yet. 6y
GatheringBooks @scripturient oohlala - great choices - i haven‘t read any of these so i will be down with whatever your top pick is. 6y
ephemeralwaltz @GatheringBooks So I think now it's between Joyland or The Haunting of Hill House which it seems like less of you have read. Have you read it? 6y
ephemeralwaltz @GatheringBooks I feel you - I'm at Uni too - lots of luck for the new semester! 6y
GatheringBooks @ephemeralwaltz i haven‘t read any of the titles shared here thus far - so really excited to read everyone‘s top picks - i don‘t mind a re-read because i will be interested in what the others have to say about the book. :) 6y
BookishTrish @GatheringBooks ❤️surprises! 6y
kamoorephoto Aha! I have FINALLY found some books that ESPECIALLY @Reggie hasn‘t read! I was about to add a few more to my choices but if those three are good, I don‘t have to.... Is everyone happy/happier with my new three (that I think no one has read)? Any opinions? @BookishTrish @ephemeralwaltz @GatheringBooks @scripturient @Reggie @danibolahood 6y
BookishTrish Love this one and would happily reread: 6y
GatheringBooks @kamoorephoto am happy with all of them. whatever your top pick is, i shall go with that. :) 6y
danibolahood I'm good with all of them 😁 6y
scripturient @GatheringBooks So interesting that your term just started as ours is just about to come to an end. :) @kamoorephoto Sounds good. 6y
GatheringBooks @scripturient will share more in my reading journal! ;) looking forward to really getting to know everyone through their book choices and journal notes :) 6y
kamoorephoto I just very much wanted to make sure I wasn‘t going to be sending around a book that someone else was going to...since a couple of you haven‘t revealed your pick yet! I guess after the first pass, we shall find out! And just so you know (since @BookishTrish had read #TheRitual, darnit!), I will likely go with 6y
BookishTrish @kamoorephoto ❤️your pick and ❤️The Ritual so I'm really good whatever you decide. 6y
kamoorephoto Yay!👻 6y
kamoorephoto Do you guys have Kindles, btw? Not related to this... 6y
ephemeralwaltz I do! Got it last month. @kamoorephoto I never thought I would but I'm enjoying it so far. 6y
danibolahood I've got one too along with a kobo. I haven't been able to decide which one I like better. 6y
BookishTrish I have a Kindle. I like it for reading ARCs because the files don't expire. 6y
kamoorephoto You three give me your Amazon email! @ephemeralwaltz @BookishTrish @danibolahood (edited) 6y
danibolahood I sent it to you via Goodreads message 😊 6y
kamoorephoto @BookishTrish @danibolahood @ephemeralwaltz @GatheringBooks @Reggie @scripturient Are we reading our own books first? I‘m seeing some groups already sending their books off to the first person unread... I know the first date said Feb 1st (which seems mighty early), but I thought we would be sending off our book READ to the first person....YES? 6y
danibolahood I'm half way through mine already lol so I'll be sending mine read already. 6y
BookishTrish I finished mine and will post it on Friday. 6y
BookishTrish I'm plesku at Kindle .com 6y
kamoorephoto Ok, reading it!! I had to finish an ARC today, so I couldn‘t start anything new 🧜🏽‍♀️ 6y
kamoorephoto 💓💓 6y
Reggie Yeah, I‘m reading mine first. 6y
GatheringBooks hey beautiful #ScreamsByMail people, am nearly done with my book and hopefully can send it over the weekend (so yes, am reading it first and writing a few notes too in the process). looking forward to reading your book and journals! 6y
scripturient Hmmmm, I actually thought that the book we chose was one we had already read and we‘d leave our comments in the journal on why we chose it. At least that‘s how we did it with my other PBC. But I guess that‘s pretty much the same as reading it now and sending it on. 😊 I‘d be able to ship mine early next week but as it will take a while getting to Singapore from Europe, that might actually be good. So is Feb 1st our shipping date then? 6y
scripturient And should we set up a fixed shipping schedule for the individual rotations or do we improvise? 6y
kamoorephoto @scripturient For the last one I did (well, we are on our last books now), we have had about 4 weeks for the book including ship time. I haven‘t read my book (that‘s why I chose it!) so that it would be new to me as well as everyone else, and am starting it tonight to read and journal about before I send off. I think Feb 1st is our target start date, yes...I‘d love to have had a wee bit longer beforehand (it‘s a big one!) but I‘ll manage 👻 6y
ephemeralwaltz @kamoorephoto clara.rosell.castells@kindle.com 6y
ephemeralwaltz @scripturient I've read mine so I'll be sending it out to you by the end of this week - I hope it doesn't take too long! 6y
scripturient @kamoorephoto That‘s good to know. I think we‘re located pretty much all over the place so maybe four weeks would be a bit short for this group. Maybe six weeks? What does everyone think? And I hope you enjoy your book. 😊 6y
ephemeralwaltz @BookishTrish @kamoorephoto @danibolahood @GatheringBooks @Reggie @scripturient 6 weeks is good. Especially since the post takes pretty long sometimes... I would just make sure that everyone lets the receiver know when they've sent out the book and we should be fine. Looking forward to reading all your comments!😍 6y
kamoorephoto I‘d love it if we all had each other‘s email addresses, so we can send tracking numbers, etc. I‘d love to coordinate anything... My email is scriptkat@hotmail.com I also had everyone‘s addresses before; I‘d love to know where everyone is; I sent out everyone a little welcome something on my last book club like this! Will you please email me if I don‘t have your email? @GatheringBooks @scripturient @Reggie 👻💀🧟‍♂️ 6y
GatheringBooks @ephemeralwaltz hey everyone! i agree six weeks should be good - plenty of time to read and send out - a lot depends tho on when we receive the books - postal schedules vary i suppose depending on when we actually get the books - then count six weeks upon receiving books? :) 6y
GatheringBooks @kamoorephoto hi!! here‘s mine: gatheringbooks@yahoo.com - looking forward to receiving your email! :) 6y
kamoorephoto @BookishTrish Is that your regular email too? 6y
BookishTrish @kamoorephoto I'm kindianaj at gmail.com 6y
kamoorephoto I think I just don‘t have emails for @scripturient and @Reggie 😭 6y
scripturient @kamoorephoto Sorry, it was night here. 😁 Mine is stefanie.caeners@uni-due.de 6y
kamoorephoto @ephemeralwaltz Is that definitely your Amazon email? 6y
ephemeralwaltz @kamoorephoto it's my Kindle email yes :) and I received your email at my gmail, thanks! 6y
