Great read (short stories) from a young 'up and coming' author. I'll be buying her novel when it comes out.

Now her entire wardrobe for the year had been reduced to just three items.... in accordance with tradition: the loose, below-the-knee midnight-blue dress with a gathered waistline, the matching midnight-blue cape that fell to mid- back, and a cut of fabric of the same hue, which she wound every morning over her hair. ... Phetso had the uncanny sensation, sometimes, that she was putting on a disguise, like an embryonic superhero
"Temo is cheating on Pauline," I said. "I think."
"Already?" Boitshepho said.
"I saw him at an Engen the other day, with a girl," I said. "They were just acting really strange."
"Who is she?"
"I don't know her," I said and heard how easily my lie sat beside the truth.

I found book 16 today! I have an incomplete set so I‘m always looking for my missing copies in the same series style. Ready for #Botswana #foodandlit in October! @Catsandbooks
3.5/4 ⭐️
I saw this book described as “calm” and I think that is a good description. It is not a book with one mystery but several. The second book is available on audio via Hoopla. I liked this first one enough to give the second one a try.
Side note: my book club picks good books 😁
My book club picked this one for July. The meeting is Thursday so I need to stop dillydallying. I‘m a little less than half done and really liking it. Don‘t know why it has taken me so long to finally read this one.
When you are in need of a literary hug, look no further than Mma Romatswe. 🤗
I believe this is the 20th in the No 1 Ladies Detective Agency series.
Mma Potokwani tries to convince Mma Romatswe to run for city council in order to have a vote against a large hotel that is trying to get approval in Gaborone. As usual the cases the agency is working on and the personal lives of the characters mingle and share focus.
I enjoyed getting to see Charlie grow a bit in this installment.
“Every dubious bit of whatnottery “ made me laugh.
