“And the memory made her humble; for we should not forget what it is to be young and to have ideas and attitudes that may later seem so fanciful.”

“Mma Ramotswe did not like lying, but sometimes it was necessary, particularly when faced with people who were promoted beyond their talents.”

Two more books, books 23 & 24 of the series, from the Houston bookstore Murder by the Book. I now only need three books to complete the series

Bookwormjillk That sounds like a fun treasure hunt 3mo
TheBookHippie Fun covers! 3mo
Kristin_Reads I love this series, too! I‘m on #22. I think there‘s 26 total. I started reading this from the very first book when it first came out in the late 90s. I read about one a year but I missed a couple along the way. I‘m hoping to catch up this year! 3mo

“As they left the shop, Mma Ramotswe made amends and told Mma Makutsi that she really thought the blue shoes very beautiful. There was no point in disapproving of a purchase once the deed had been done.”

Mma Makutsi‘s weakness was colorful unusual shoes - it was her trademark 👠

BooksandCoffee4Me I thought that was me, but I felt so conspicuous in red or green shoes, etc, that I gave them all away. 😂 3mo

Pickpick

This book was a treat — a super fast paced sci-fi ghost story. Elements felt a little repetitive or all talk/no show, but so much of this was lyrically delicate, super descriptive body horror. This is the author‘s first novel - I‘m really excited to see where she goes from here.
