This 4th book in the Aurora Teagarden series was a bit disappointing. Most of the book is about Roe‘s adjustment to being married and renovating her new home - The Julius House. There is a side plot line that ends up not going anywhere - I can only assume it will be used in future books. The mystery doesn‘t really begin until more than half of the book is over, and it was predictable and somewhat unreaelistic. ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 ❤️📚 #serieslove2023
This was less fun than I was expecting - neither fast paced nor slow paced, gritty or cosy, funny or literary, I was never sure what it was going for and I didn‘t love the social attitudes. Not awful but I also can‘t think of much to recommend it #scarathlon #skeletoncrew
I wasn‘t sure about continuing this series after the last book, but this third Aurora Teagarden book was fantastic. Aurora tries her hand at real estate & the bodies pile up. I thoroughly enjoyed this mystery & it reminded me of the books through which I became a true reader. I did need to remind myself of when these books were written, as there are a couple of references that today are insensitive and made me cringe. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 #serieslove2023
Downloaded the next Aurora Teagarden cozy mystery to begin the #Deweys Readathon this morning. I‘ll listen as I make breakfast and get settled. 🎧❤️📚

This was fine. It felt very dated, as all books in the 1990s do. I was a teen then and I am always shocked by the small mindedness in books written at this time. Even though you can see Harris tries not to be.
The murderers are interesting - our killer is recreating historical true crime and his main victims are in a true crime study group. But overall I found the book a bit boring.

"There wasn't anyone in Lawrenceton Bankston and Melanie's age left for them to marry, except each other. Bankston was thirty two, Melanie a year or two older."???
Tell me your story is set in the small town South without telling me you story is set in the small town South. 32 and unmarried!! The horror!!
Yeah no. Unlikeable unfeeling characters, tasteless transitions from serious business like discussing child abduction to having (ofcourse amazing) sex. Glossing over sexual abuse, child abduction. And also the weird reaction of the detective love interest when mentioning giving birth to a child at home. I wasn't into it.
