So... This was actually a really fun exercise 😈
Some months had few misses, and there's a mix here of bails/not for me rn vs things I legit think aren't great.
Tagged I am celebrating because it is the first in a series that I think i will likely continue anyway 🤪🎉 - I think books after this one won't have the things that bugged me, mainly the way the male MC treats the female, and the whole cw portion mid book is one of my trigger topics.

Larkken #worstof2024 bracket from the internet 1mo
fredthemoose Wait—this is a WORST books of the year bracket?? I had a very mediocre reading year and this sounds amazing. 1mo
Larkken @fredthemoose I know! It‘s odd how sometimes mood can have a huge effect on how something hits, and I did read about 160 so there‘s bound to be some that don‘t do as much for me as others 😘 1mo
Chelsea.Poole I also didn‘t love Mobility 1mo

While the 7th book in the series has just as much to love as previous installments, there are some consistent problems that are starting to get to me. First, too much is crammed into one book. I‘d prefer something shorter with less going on (maybe Wayward Children-style). Secondly, & most frustratingly, Taylor seems to struggle to embrace body positivity. Bigger bodies are beautiful, too. The repeated fat-shaming is becoming hard to overlook.👇🏻

monalyisha 1/1: Still, the cast of characters is one of my favorite groups of *any* series. I can‘t bring myself to give any of these novels a so-so rating…especially not one that features King Arthur‘s sword, Stonehenge, and The Wild Hunt. A lot hinges on Book 8. 7mo
julesG I didn't have the impression it's fat-shaming. In most cases Max talks about herself, or repeats that the medical section thinks she should lose some weight for health reasons (bum knee, ankles,...). 7mo
monalyisha @julesG There‘s also the whole first bit about Caroline of Brunswick. 7mo
julesG Oh. Yes. I had forgotten about that part. You're right. That could have been done better. Especially from the POV of future historians. The contemporaries are allowed to be unkind, they don't know better. (I hope you understand what I mean) 7mo

#BookReport
I have been in a bit of a slump and not able to focus on reading things for challenges so I've been getting back into the St. Mary's books and binging through those. So it's been a productive reading week just not challenge wise.

#WeeklyForecast
Goal this week is to make big progress in Sea of Tranquility as I need to read it for work.

I enjoyed this like most St. Mary's books but it was very much telenovella levels of drama for Max et al. Like I know this are OTT and silly but also there was a lot of bad things happening to good people and it kind of was a downer. Very much not the most optimistic episode in the series.

julesG Not one of my favourites either. 8mo
