3.75 ⭐. This was really about the characters. It had an engaging story line but I would have liked more depth.
I will read the nest in the series.

@Andrew65
I originally abandoned this book a couple of years ago, but I was quite sick at that time and having a hard time reading. I figured it was me, so I gave it another shot. Got through 7 chapters and it's just not for me. I don't know enough about the characters to care about any of it. I'll read another Connie Willis book instead.
When it‘s 4° in October, you shiver and moan. When it‘s 4° in April, you read on the deck while the dogs play tug-of-war.
(Okay, you shiver and moan a bit too, because it still ain‘t WARM but at least it‘s above freezing.)
I made a good start on this popular time travel romp, and it looks like it‘s gonna be fun! It‘s also, um, the first of my 16 2024 purchases I‘ve actually read. Gotta whittle the list down this month.
There have been two moments in my life when everything changed.
Looking forward to this read - I love time travel a la Connie Willis

I finally on StoryGraph and set up a reading challenge for this series with books and short stories in order. @julesG If you‘re on StoryGraph, would you check my order? Here‘s the link:

I‘m also tagging some Littens who‘ve given this book some love in case you want to track progress of the series:

1) I talk to myself All The Time.
2) the tagged book is first in a series the full of quirky characters
@TheSpineView
Now, this was definitely the fun romp that I needed! I have seen people rave about this series, and I now see why. If you love history, and the idea of a new twist on time travel appeals to you, check out this quirky book. It's definitely a series I will continue.
Fun premise, disliked the protagonist and writing style
@Deblovestoread Thank you so much for the awesome #staycationswap package! I‘m so excited about the books (a boxed set!!), I already opened and tested the snack mix and lip balm (cherry, yum!), and the book case is perfect for some upcoming work travel. (Pls excuse my random laundry in the pic 😅)
Also I want to know more about your old Astoria stomping grounds!!
This was enjoyable! A lot happens and I‘m curious to see where the series will go after so much was smooshed into the first book.
⭐️⭐️⭐️

Some years ago I listened to a lot of the Christmas short stories and I fell in love with them. So one Christmas I asked & Santa brought me the whole set. I‘m so happy to use #serieslove2023 to finally make progress. A number of books have come out since that big Christmas present. I‘ll work on filling in the gaps. I‘ll probably reread the short stories in order now, too. Here‘s the key to my list:
Green-read
Yellow-reading
Bold/italic-not read
#two4Tuesday Thanks @Eggs for the tag!!
1) tagged
2) clean my craft room/study for my #100dayproject for #Litsycrafters
A group of historians, techies, security, and medics travel through time on behalf of St Mary‘s to ensure history has been accurately recorded. Unfortunately bad guys have also figured out how to disrupt the past and try to destroy St Mary‘s and the timeline as well. Rollicking fun and sadly dramatic as well. An awesome reread and this time I hope to keep going with this series for #serieslove2023 @TheSpineView @Andrew65
Peterson… arrived first with two cardboard boxes. “Some of your books,” he said. “How do you organize them?“
“By order of enjoyment.“
I love this and in a way that‘s what I do with my favorite books on the shelf in my bedroom.
#serieslove2023 @Andrew65 @TheSpineView
I‘m finally starting this series, again. I‘ve only read book 1 before (tagged) and almost all the Christmas specials. I‘ve got almost the entire series thanks to a marvelous Christmas gift from the hubby the year I discovered the series. So I‘m hoping #serieslove2023 will be motivation to make a bigger dent! @TheSpineView @Andrew65
On a business trip in a hotel room for two nights so I‘m hoping that means a lot of reading time
Here‘s a sampling of my many series only partially read, or that need a reread that are candidates for #serieslove2023. I‘d probably want to start with Jodi Taylor‘s books because they are so entertaining. Unfortunately book 1 is on loan to Mom so I‘ll have to nab it back for a quick reread. Ok @Doll8455 ?
Fellow Littens: Any other series you‘d vote for? Tbh, McMurtry and Follett are out because they‘re chunksters!!
Like the title says, this is one thing after another, making the overall plot a bit thin. But they're entertaining things (a bit tragic sonetimes) and I'm looking forward to read the rest of the series.

Wow! I absolutely adored this book and can‘t wait to go on more adventures with Max and the rest of the St. Mary‘s gang. Thanks @julesG for putting this on my radar.
💙 Tagged current read, I think 4 stars so far?
💙 Favourite read this year has been The House in the Cerulean Sea, but honorable mention to The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea and Lore Olympus vol 1.
💙 I'm grateful for a lot of things, but today I am particularly grateful for the opportunity to rest, and for my support system
Thanks for the tag, @Eggs
@Yuki_Onna @monalyisha @jenniferw88
I blame @BarbaraJean about 90% for this and other Litsy readers the rest 🤪 The rest of the series isn't exactly as dirt cheap as the first one - what have I done?? I now know why this is so popular and I want more! Sometimes it's just a tiny, tiny bit too cute, but mostly I love her writing and cleverness. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
#wondrouswednesday thanks for the tag @Eggs ! I‘m an insane nut about our gorgeous spring wildflowers (despite making my allergies insane) so I‘m glad you tagged me!
1) our state flower, the absolutely beautiful bluebonnet in an ocean of blue (runner up: bleeding hearts, which I‘ve only ever seen in Norway and I love dearly)
2) humorous time travel (I love the tagged series) (runner up: humorous historical fiction)
3) quiet companionship
Late to play, but I couldn‘t miss this one.
1. Future! Future! Future! Please lol
2. I loved the tagged and I pick up book 2 from the library tomorrow 😁
Thanks for the tag @Texreader
1) back in time to see 🤔 - I'd like to see it all. Be there when the pyramids were built, take a peak at the Tudors, meet Marie Curie,...

3.25⭐ This book was a bit clunky and disjointed at times and probably could have done with another round of edits, but what it lacks in finesse, it makes up for with humor and excitement. It is a fun twist on the typical time traveling story, and Taylor's sharp dialogue and wit is enjoyable to read and highly quotable. I'll definitely be checking out more of The St. Mary's Chronicles.
This was exciting and silly and just so much fun to read! The characters were loveable and I can't wait to get my hands on the next book. There were a couple of quirks with the writing that bothered me a little, but not enough to take away from my enjoyment of the story.
My husband ended up having to work until midnight tonight, so you‘re looking at my New Years plans right here… can‘t say I‘m too disappointed, as I‘m 2 chapters in and loving it!
Thanks so much for this book @inthegreensandblues !! I immediately picked this book up Christmas morning and finished it yesterday! This book was so good! I‘m so glad I finally was able to start this series. I can‘t wait to read all the books. It was so much fun and action packed. I want the next one now! Also, thanks to Litsy for putting this book on my radar!

I just opened my #jolabokaflod swap package from @BeaG and I love it!! Thank you so much!! Now I just need to get through all the Christmas Eve family festivities so I can curl up by the tree and start reading- I've already broken into the chocolates 🤣
Thank you, @MaleficentBookDragon for hosting!
About historians who time travel - but you didn‘t hear it and I never said it, or the consequences to us could be dire. They go only to observe and document (thus avoiding paradoxes - or History will take her own action) those points in history we all wonder about, like what happened to the Princes in the Tower. I‘m 1/3 of the way in; based on UK/ European history.
Don‘t miss the amusing cast list at the beginning.
Liking it so far
It's 6am and your 16 y/o has pulled an all-nighter reading a book you gave to him and he announced he wouldn't read.
So proud. So happy.

PS: picture was taken a week ago in Denmark where the kids holidayed with their father
Well this was fun! If you‘re looking for a light weight, easy read about time travelling historians then this is the book for you. 😉 👍
After the heaviness of Great Circle I really needed a fun read…Looks like this should fit the bill nicely! 😆
#BookReport
I exceeded my goals this week by finishing 1Q84 and the first in the St. Mary's series. Both were good but very different from each other.
#WeeklyForecast
I'm still hoping to make more progress in the fairy tales chunkster but also the next in the St. Mary's series. After those it's back to my RNG commitments.
This was a lot of fun. I have to say I appreciate the fact that this is a lighter take on time traveling historians than I've previously come across. It's like a popcorn book nothing super serious but you have a great time while you're reading. I'll definitely continue on with the series.
#BookMail that arrived yesterday.
The kid approves!
This book full of recipes was just published and we caught the live stream launch last Saturday. Naturally, we had to order the book, because we're both big fans of The Chronicles of St Mary's.
I've tagged the first book in the series, since this book isn't in the database yet.
The first in a series about the "tea-soaked disaster magnets" of St Mary's where historians investigate major events in "contemporary time" (the term time travel is frowned upon).
Headstrong but ingenious ancient historian Madeleine Maxwell joins the team at St Mary's and finds herself investigating all manner of events, including a stay in the Cretaceous that ends up going even more haywire than usual...
Definitely a pick. It could use some editing to smooth the transitions from one moment to another. It was choppy at times. Did anyone watch Loki on Disney +? I saw similarities in going back to points in time with major destruction and chaos so the time travelers could come and go without being noticed or impacting the timeline.
Thanks for the tag @The_Penniless_Author.
#WondrousWednesday @Eggs
1) first book in the St Mary's series, tagged
2) drawing a blank - most films pale compared to the book
3) sleep 😁
What about you? @robinb @hgrimes @Birdsong28
This was so much fun! I've read books 2+3 and the short stories yesterday.

Why not start another book at 11pm? Definitely good for my sleep. 🙄🙄🙄
This book was so much fun to read!
This series is right up my alley and I can‘t wait to get the second one.
Time travel, dinosaurs, history, some crazy villains, bit of romance, what more could you want?!
