I really enjoyed this series, more so than a lot of older comics I've read recently. Batman is settling into his role in Gotham when a villain known as the Reaper starts to terrorize the city. A vigilante from the past, the Reaper's return rattles Batman, as he is a violent, murderous reflection of our dark knight. Batman has to reconcile with his own self-imposed limits while also confronting Joe Chill in a fascinating side story.

TieDyeDude Some excellent art from the legendary Todd McFarlane. Also, always a sign of a good story when Dr. Leslie Tompkins is involved, IMO. 2d
AnnCrystal Classic art 🤩🦇💫. 2d

Batman's Killing Time is an obnoxiously consistent non-linear story that could have easily been a masterpiece. I ended up DNF'ing this one around the 65% mark. Tom King is a fantastic creator. I highly recommend both The Human Target & Rorschach. There were elements of this I liked quite a bit, however the elements that did not work were too big of distractions.

As the title says the events of this are a bit like origin stories for Nite Owl/Dr Manhattan. Nite Owl is a bit of a poor man's Batman. What is interesting in this volume is how he grows as a character with his interactions with Rorschach & others. The second half of this was absolutely fantastic, easily one of the best graphic novels I have read this year. Dealing with quantum realities, pocket universes, etc. There are times where you (CONT)

vivastory have to turn the book sideways/upside down (House of Leave style-minus the pages of footnotes). This was an immensely satisfying origin story on Dr. Manhattan. 3d
RamsFan1963 I've read the Before Watchman volume with The Comedian and Rorschach, I need to get around to reading the rest of them. 2d
vivastory @RamsFan1963 If you haven't read it, Tom King:s Rorschach is fantastic 22h

RamsFan1963 @vivastory I've seen it at the library, but I haven't read it yet. Is it the original Rorschach or the replacement introduced in Doomsday Clock? 22h
vivastory @RamsFan1963 I haven't read Doomsday Clock but it's definitely not the original 21h
RamsFan1963 @vivastory I wouldn't waste my time on Doomsday Clock. It was a good idea, and could have been an interesting sequel to Watchmen, but DC blew it. There was big delays between issues, then events were happening in other DC comics that affected the plot of the miniseries. The only good thing about it was the artwork by Gary Frank. 20h

Mehso-so

Can Tom Taylor make me cry with an emotional scene between Dick and Bruce? Is it smart to make the antagonist a foil for Nightwing? Does Taylor get a little carried away treating Nightwing as the purest superhero ever?

Yes to all

This was entertaining enough, but a little disappointing overall. The Batman/Elmer Fudd issue rightfully got the most attention, but the Wonder Woman/Taz issues was also fun, and the Martian Manhunter/Marvin the Martian was a good idea, if a little lazy in execution. Lobo/Road Runner was overly silly. Johan Hex/Yosemite Sam was overly serious. Legion of Superheroes/Bugs was just bad. The 8-page looney comics were also bad.

Thank You @debinhawaii for #5JoysFriday & for the tag 💖🌺💝.

1- Litsy is working again 👏🏼📚💝💝💝.

2- book shopping...because I had absolutely no more tbr books on my bookshelf 🤥📚👀😂😜🤣.

3- Garden 🪄🌱💝.

4- Reading Snacks 😋🍿📚💝.

👇

AnnCrystal 5- Batman...I can't seem to read/watch anything Batman right now because of the whole problem with reality being very Gotham-like...yet I found the tagged on my TBR to-buy list, and it seems more of a mystery focused on Bruce Wayne's family and not so much about chaotic Gotham City. I couldn't resist 🤞🦇💝.

Superman: The Man of Steel Vol. 3 | Jim Starlin, Dan Jurgens, Jerry Ordway, John Byrne

To me, this iteration of SUPERMAN (late ‘80‘s) by the great John Byrne and Jerry Ordway, is the sweet spot for the character. Bright and colorful, yet shedding the ridiculous fringes of the Golden and Silver eras. There are still zany plots and characters, but with just enough pathos to be taken seriously. Fun, with a hint of realism, is just the right flavor of the Son of Krypton for my tastes.

Catwoman: Lonely City | Cliff Chiang

A masterpiece! This is not only a love letter to DC Comics history, but a stark reflection of our current political times. Catwoman is released from prison 10 years after the death of Batman. Can she adjust to the new world order? Can she rely on old friends? Can she save her city?
Writer/artist/colorist/letterer Cliff Chiang (of Wonder Woman and Paper Girls) makes quite the statement with this project!

AnnCrystal Catwoman 🤩👍🏼...

One day, everybody is going to realize Batman is immortal...🦇😉💫...
