Sace @Ruthiella if I had the the brain for it I would love to add French and Turkish, but I'm sticking to the languages that I had in high school. I've at least got a foundation with German and Spanish. I'd have to start from scratch with anything else. 3y

Yuki_Onna @Sace I think they are! 😋 I like them, too - we have the For Dummies series in Germany, too, and those I've read I liked very much. Realtively easy and informative - I don't care being considered a Dummy in certain fields when I read them... :) I guess you cannot be an expert in everything.😅 Viel Glück und Spaß beim Studieren! 🌹 3y

Ich mag den Schreibstil Fitzeks echt gerne, und am Anfang und so gegen Seite 250 wurde es richtig spannend!
Allerdings waren die Geschenisse und Verflechtungen der Beziehungen an manchen Stellen zu weit hergeholt.
Gute Ideen die nach meinem Geschmack überzogen wirken...
Trotzdem bin ich froh, dass ich mal wieder ein Buch zu Ende gelesen habe!
Ich hab ungefähr 40 Tage gebraucht

I thought my fellow #littens would appreciate this.☝🏼😁 I‘ve recently begun brushing up on my #Deutsch now that my brain fog has been clearing a little bit. I had a goal to learn 5 languages by the time I was 30. That didn‘t happen (I turned 30 this year) so I guess the goal is moving to the #bucketlist. 😬 What are your biggest #selfimprovement goals? 2BR02B I've been trying to learn French via Duolingo for about three years now. I think everyone should know a minimum of two languages. 6y

MaGoose I took a few semesters of both French and Spanish in college. Can I speak either language? Yeah, right...it's been far too long (like 20+ years) since I've even said hello, good bye or thank you or whatever. But I want to relearn both again. My local library offers language lessons for free online using Rosetta Stone. I guess this is on my to-do list again. It had fallen off. 6y

obviateit @MaGoose it‘s never too late to start practicing again! I‘m glad to have inspired you to put it back on your list. I‘ve been using this free app to practice. It‘s called Duolingo. It doesn‘t have any grammar instruction, but it‘s great for learning to converse. 😊❤️ 6y

A great book for anyone studying German! Brilliant explanations, examples an easy to grasp (even for beginners). Collins is wonderful when it comes to language dictionaries and is by far my absolute favourite! I can't wait to buy a Japanese one

Cherrielein0508 That's true! I mean, I know the words, but sometimes there not in the right order, or the sentence sounds weird, or "too german". ? Hard to explain ? And there are those words, that sound to familiar. Their, they're, your, you're...but I kinda got used to it. Do you have the same "problems" with the German language? 7y

Romeo and Juliet | William Shakespeare

The books from Reclams bilingual line all have #orangecovers . I used to love buying these, well edited and cheap, but they've switched from the traditional illustrations to a more modern design that is just a white block around the title. Still love the company but never bought anything after the switch, I think they're ugly. 😕 #photoadaynov16 #german #deutsch #reclam

RIP Ilse Aichinger. Born 1921 in Austria, survived the Holocaust, became one of the most important female authors in post-war German literature and was a member of the group 47. I have the impression she is mostly unknown in the English-speaking world, but I still wanted to post this. #deutsch #german

HijackMe @charl08 I'm ashamed to admit this, but Aichinger is still on my tbr-pile and I can't really make recommendations. I checked Amazon & Wikipedia, english translations seem to be mostly collections of her stories and prose and I think that's always the best starting point to see if you enjoy an author? Her only long novel "Herod's children" is also supposed to be great, but since it's about Jewish children in WWII Vienna expect it to be dark & heavy 7y
