He has also begun to notice another visitor to the lake, a young boy, playing with a stick at the water‘s edge, a boy who is always alone. Slowly, Dylan can see that something is terribly wrong with the child; he seems troubled and unhappy and when bruises start to appear on the boy‘s arms, he knows that he must act.

I need to get #downinthepark and brush up on some Austen before my trip to London in 3 weeks! This book has been on my #tbrbingo for months 😏 so perhaps I can squeeze it in, but I also need to read Northanger Abbey for family book club. So. Many. Books. 😅

I've gone for two recent novels with settings in Britain's national parks, the lake district in the summer of 1976, and the yorkshire moors/dales (a bit of geographic licence here but hey ho). I loved both these books, very atmospheric.

#NuYear #day21 #DownInThePark I sorta have a bit of an obsession with Central Park in New York City. We have some beautiful parks here in Sydney, the Botanical Gardens, Hyde Park, just to name a few, but none are as big or as wild as Central Park still is. There are parts of it that are still untouched woodland that you would swear was miles from any city plus there‘s the waterfalls & ponds,the fountains,a castle & a storybook garden for the kids.

On New Years Eve 1976, bad things are going on #DowninthePark. A teenage girl gets shot, and this incident sends ripples through a lot of people‘s lives.

I loved this book about Nick, who stays with the wealthy Fedden family in Kensington Park, London. He divides his time between partying and travelling with the family on one side, and exploring the realities of his sexuality and gay life on the other.
The park plays a big role in this aspect of his life - at least as I remember the book. Highly recommended!
