I‘m SO EXCITED to be teaching one of my favorite books again after a 10 year hiatus. Finally something GOOD about this school year! Another female teacher convinced the males to read/teach it even though I‘ve been suggesting it for over 20 years 🤦🏻‍♀️ I gave students some brief background info & asked them what they expect from the book. One wrote, “That it will be mildly inappropriate but well written.” 🤔 #teachersoflitsy #feministclassic

What better way to close out the first quarter #Booked2018 than with the original #FeministClassic? Mary Wollestonecraft was fighting the good fight for women's equality long before most women even considered the possibility. It's amazing, given the time, that it was published at all. It's also very sad that so much of it is still relevant. Why don't we get it by now? Oh yeah, because we don‘t all want to.

Why did I wait so long to read this?!? Disturbing, scary, but unfortunately realistic-sounding, this Book had me riveted from page one. I thought the broken sentences, the short paragraphs, and even the run-on sentences worked well for this. My first Atwood, and definitely not my last!

My #FeministClassic for #Booked2018 , #NewToYouAuthor for #LRC #LRC2018 , and my “H” for #LitsyAtoZ .

I should note, probably my last #Booked2018 for this season.

Lcsmcat This was my first Atwood too - in 1985. I‘ve read a lot of her since and can say her books are all equally well written without being “samey-samey” if you know what I mean. 7y

sprainedbrain I need to get my post made, since I‘ve finally finished the last one. My favorite books were from the POC prompt and the Body Positive prompt, but I also loved my Feminist Classic. I‘m most looking forward to my pick for Refugee Main Character for next quarter. 7y
