The End of the Affair | Graham Greene

My #currentread seems apt for #mylovemylife . In fact, Maurice‘s love for Sarah slowly turns into an obsession (not a spoiler, it‘s in the blurb).

#ABBAInAugust

toofondofbooks Colin Firth narrates the audiobook of this and it is excellent. 😍 6y
Mdargusch Oh that would be a narrator I would love! 6y
emilyhaldi Ooohhh that quote really illustrates the obsession 😅 6y
erzascarletbookgasm @toofondofbooks So I‘ve heard! Ah! too bad I‘m reading a physical copy! 6y

Jane Eyre | Charlotte Bront

#MyLoveMyLife made me think of the time my husband and I shared a literary lovey-dovey moment: we got emotional over a passage from the concluding chapter of Jane Eyre (see comments for full quote). I said, "this reminds me of us" and as I read it out loud to him, we both got misty-eyed and choked up ☺️? #ABBAinAugust

TK-421 “I have now been married ten years. I know what it is to live entirely for and with what I love best on earth. I hold myself supremely blest—blest beyond what language can express; because I am my husband‘s life as fully as he is mine. No woman was ever nearer to her mate than I am: ever more absolutely bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh. I know no weariness of my Edward‘s society: he knows none of mine, any more than we each do of the...👇 6y
TK-421 ...pulsation of the heart that beats in our separate bosoms; consequently, we are ever together. To be together is for us to be at once as free as in solitude, as gay as in company. We talk, I believe, all day long: to talk to each other is but a more animated and an audible thinking. All my confidence is bestowed on him, all his confidence is devoted to me; we are precisely suited in character—perfect concord is the result." 6y
HeatherBookNerd This has always been one of my favorite passages and have always thought it describes me and my hubby. It‘s wonderful to find such a great love. Happily married people are allowed to be mushy ❤️ 6y

emilyhaldi Omg!! Wish I could read the spoilers but I have YET to read this classic. Luckily, I ordered a vintage Folio Society edition from Abe Books a couple weeks ago that should serve any day 🙏🏻🙏🏻 6y

TheBookHippie My hubby and I too ❤️this passage -I have for the first time found what I can truly love and I have found you. You are my sympathy--my better self--my good angel. I am bound to you with a strong attachment. I think you good, gifted, lovely: a fervent, a solemn passion is conceived in my heart; it leans to you, draws you to my centre and spring of life, wraps my existence about you, and, kindling in pure, powerful flame, fuses you and me in one.❤️ 6y
LeahBergen Yes!! 😍😍 6y

#mylovemylife #yolo #attemptedmurderforlove Amy gave zero f***** and was even ready to kill her much older bf‘s wife just so she could be with him. Thank God she‘s a terrible shot. Unfortunately, she and Joey couldn‘t make their love last and his wife was like uhh yeah I‘m out of here ✌🏻 Love stinks sometimes 🤷🏻‍♀️ #ABBAinAugust

Cinfhen I totally remember this sordid saga ~ great pick #nostalgia 😉 6y
emilyhaldi Have you actually read this or did you google murder mysteries to come up with this one 🤣 6y
Meredith3 I haven‘t read 90% of the books I post about 😹 I just try to think of weird stories that I can at least half relate to the hashtag for the day. Then I google the story and see if there have actually been any books written about it @emilyhaldi (edited) 6y

emilyhaldi Yes!! @BarbaraBB a true Google-murder-genius 😂👌🏻 6y
Kalalalatja Also, your memory for weird stories is unbelievable 😂😂 6y
Mdargusch That was a great story too bad it was true. Truth is stranger than fiction sometimes. 6y

I loved this book set in 1930‘s NYC where Katey Kontent is confronted with love in all different forms and is forced to make decisions without understanding how the repercussions will shape her life. ❤️💔

emilyhaldi WOW! @Cinfhen you are just blowing my mind every day this week! 😂🤯😂🤯 6y
emilyhaldi @Meredith3 I thought so too!! But it's not at all, it's actually fairly light and fun! You should try it 6y
emilyhaldi @LeahBergen me too, I kept avoiding for some reason... You should prioritize it!! A delightful book☺️ 6y
Cinfhen That‘s me, im just full of surprises ❣️ 6y

emilyhaldi I've been meaning to reread this for a loooong time. I remember being shocked by the twist in this book and now I don't even remember what it was!! 6y
Kalalalatja @Cinfhen I saw the movie first as well, because back then I didn‘t know it was a book 😂 6y
Kalalalatja @emilyhaldi seriously? It is pretty unforgettable for me, but then again I have watched the movie several times 😄 but it really is a great book! 6y
Mdargusch Good one! 👍🏼 6y
emilyhaldi I have a TERRIBLE memory 😣 and I also read this when it was first published (2003)... 15 years ago, so that makes it a little better, right?? 😅😬 6y

My Sister, My Love | Joyce Carol Oates

#mylovemylife #abbainaugust

This is the fictionalized account of the JonBenet Ramsey murder. Bliss Rampike is a young figure skater with a bright future when she is found dead. This is the story, as told by her older brother, Skyler Rampike.

I absolutely loved this book. I can vividly remember reading it back in 2009 and just wanting to devour it.

Cinfhen Ooooh, sounds scandalous!!!! #stacking 6y
Kaye I never knew this was based on the Ramseys. 6y

merelybookish My daughter recently fell down this rabbit hole. She has questions!! And theories. (She is 12. 😃) I assume this book meant for someone older? 6y
arubabookwoman I loved this one too. 6y
Meredith3 Omg how have I never heard of this?! Must read! 6y
Reviewsbylola I think I gave it to you or @annied for Christmas. @Meredith3 6y
Reviewsbylola It is, but she might be ready for it soon! There‘s not any graphic violence or sex (at least that I remember. It‘s been years. 😂) @merelybookish 6y
Reviewsbylola IKR?!? Yes please! @Hehaney 6y
emilyhaldi Should that be my next JCO?? 🤔 I was only “meh” about Blonde.. and I see this one is also a bit of a chunkster!! 6y
emilyhaldi @merelybookish I would like to hear your daughters theories. I was 12 when this story was all over newsstands (particularly National Enquirer) and I still go down this rabbit hole sometimes 🤦🏻‍♀️ It makes me CRAZY that we still don't have an answer!!! 😩 6y
Reviewsbylola Not only do we still not have an answer but I also don‘t even know how I really feel! Sometimes I‘m convinced John and Patsy had absolutely NOTHING to do with it and sometimes I‘m like well, something is super fishy about this case, so maybe it‘s them. @emilyhaldi 6y
Reviewsbylola And yes @emilyhaldi try this one!!! 6y
emilyhaldi @Reviewsbylola I have no@idea what I think either 😩😩😩although... It really does seem likely that whatever happened involved family member. Which is so hard to fathom, but... 6y
BarbaraBB Too bad it‘s written by Oates. Her writing can be sooo annoying - imo 😉 6y
BarbaraBB I‘ll go Google the murder now though...😂 6y

It seems everything I read about Wallis contradicts one another - did she love Edward? Was she happy? I‘m currently reading this one by biographer Morton. No matter the interpretation, Wallis‘ life changed forever when she met Edward. #MyLoveMyLife #ABBAinAugust

Mdargusch That was such an odd pairing and definitely interesting to read about! 6y
emilyhaldi Soooo fascinated by her!!! I have yet to read a book about her but have so many on my tbr 🤗 6y

Emma who Saved My Life | Wilton Barnhardt
post image

#abbainaugust #mylovemylife

This was one of my favourite books in the 90s. But then it was just what I liked - a coming of age story about an artist (in this case an actor) coming to a big city (New York) to try and make it and living a hard scrabble life with amazing and amusing friends. And Emma is both #mylove AND #mylife saver! Must reread and see if it‘s still as good as I remember.

batsy Ooh! Adding to the TBR pile :) 6y
