My favorite comfort food to make is spaghetti carbonara. It might not be up to an Italian Nonna‘s standards since I make it with bacon instead of pancetta or guanciale, but it‘s freaking delicious just the same. If anyone wants my recipe, let me know!
twine the spaghetti
around your fork, savoring
each tasty morsel.
bacon and garlic
explode on the tongue — indulge
in its decadence. 🍝

Penne for your thoughts?
Give me oodles of noodles —
comfort for your soul.
I LOVE pasta, could eat it every day. It‘s the best kind of comfort food. Carbonara is my fave but I also make a mean Alfredo. Nothing like curling up with a warm bowl of pasta and a good book! 🧈🧀🍜😋

Jace & I read these for #foodandlit this month. Strega Nona is set in Italy for #Jubilee - and the others are all set in The Netherlands. Strega Nona was very cute, and I also really liked The Hero of Little Street, which has no words but is quite the adventure when a little boy gets sucked into a 17th century painting in Holland. 🇮🇹🇳🇱

“All right, Anthony, you wanted pasta from my magic pasta pot,” Strega Nona said, “and I want to sleep in my little bed tonight. So start eat.”
This is a cute story for all ages. Has strong theme of punishment, authority and trust.
A folktale written by Tomie DePaola, published in 1975. Strega Nona is the source for potions, cure, magic and comfort in her town. Her magical ever-full pasta pot is especially intriguing to hungry Big Anthony. Big Anthony is supposed to look after her house and tend to garden, but one day, he recites the magic verse over the pasta pot, with disastrous results.
