LorieL This is a perfect quote to describe writing a book, even if that wasn't how it was meant. 😊 6y

Peter Drucker was the preeminent management guru when I was starting my career. I‘ll always respect him, and I believe in this quote. In so many things, it all comes down to hard work. #plan #plans #quotsynov17

#30daysofreadathon #plan. Really, this is not going to be exciting. My plan is to read my two #buddyread books as I will be behind in both and unlikely to finish either! #blindassassinbuddyread #bleakhousebuddyread

Natasha.C.Barnes Hahahaha tell me about it. 7y

White Fur | Jardine Libaire

Thanks to @Redwritinghood for her A+ sleuthing skills, we now have even more spoilers for June #botm. I had already seen the Taylor Jenkins Reid and knew I would be choosing it immediately. The other two are titles that re new to me. Chemistry seems promising. White Fur however . . . while I like the premise, the Litsy rating is abysmal and the present tense worries me. Thoughts from my other littens?

L_auren Love the monthly slow reveal!! Chemistry was on my radar already (along with Evelyn) and White Fur sounds good!! 👌🏻 7y
LauraBrook Yessss! Excited to check them all out and make sure I'm decided by the 1st! 7y
NovelGirl82 Chemistry and the TJR look good. I'm not so sure about White Fur, though. It seems a little... I don't know. 7y

NovelGirl82 I saw that @Alfoster has read it. What are your thought on White Fur? 7y
catiewithac Yeah, from the description White Fur sounds like a reject John Travolta/Olivia Newton-John film from the '80s... 7y
Hollie The TJR looks good, and I think I'm going to add 7y
melissarochelle I heard the author of Chemistry on NPR this weekend. It sounds great! 7y
Cinfhen On paper White Fur sounds excellent, I thought it would make the May #BOTM box...but the ratings are bad!!!! Definitely a library request...I'm probably going for Evelyn & 7y
Cinfhen But we're still missing two more... 7y
mklong Chemistry and White Fur were already on my radar so I only have room for one more! I know the Litsy ratings are bad on White Fur, but it has a blurb from Nathan Hill. I'll blame him if it's bad 😊 7y
TheBookStacker Both chemistry and white fur have pretty so so reviews idk man 7y
Megabooks I'm pretty sure I'm getting Eveland and Chemistry...I'll have to see what the judge says about White Fur. It sounds good, sort of. The premise could go either way. But Nathan Hill you say @mklong I'll see if I can twitter spy to see if they're just personal friends... 7y
Reviewsbylola I do too. It's more fun than when everything is revealed at once! @L_auren 7y
Reviewsbylola If enough people take a chance on White Fur I'll have to add it too. 😂 @NovelGirl82 @catiewithac @Cinfhen @mklong @TheBookStacker @Booksandcooks 7y
Megabooks @L_auren @NovelGirl82 @catiewithac @Cinfhen @mklong @TheBookStacker @Reviewsbylola So after some Twitter stalking, apparently White Fur is a Hogarth adaptation of Romeo & Juliet. I don't know if that changes anyone's mind. I have not liked most of the Hogarths I have read, so that puts me more in camp No. Thoughts? (edited) 7y
Reviewsbylola Wow, that does change things. But I haven't read any of the Hogarth so I'm still conflicted. @Booksandcooks 7y
Megabooks @Reviewsbylola The only one I liked was Vinegar Girl, and that's only because I like Taming so much. I bailed on Hag-seed and Shylock Is My Name. Overall I've found most of them too clunky in the way that they stick to Shakespeare's ideas/text to enjoy. Maybe I'm just not much on retelling. I don't particularly like them with fairy tales either FWIW. 7y
Alfoster @NovelGirl82 I did read it. It's odd for sure. I didn't see much connection to Romeo & Juliet though, other than 2 kids from opposite ends of town stuff. Liked it at the beginning but it got weird and a little too unbelievable at the end. I'll be interested to see if any of you like it. 7y
Megabooks @L_auren @NovelGirl82 @Alfoster @catiewithac @Cinfhen @mklong @TheBookStacker @Reviewsbylola Well, I checked the Hogarth Shakespeare website, and it's not one of the official adaptations. But it's being published by Hogarth. Maybe it's just a comparison? I'm still on the fence. 🤔 7y
NovelGirl82 @Booksandcooks I looked at Hogarth after I saw your post, as well, and didn't see it. I haven't read any of them, so I'm still unsure. I am considering reading Vinegar Girl now, though! 😂😂 I love Taming. @Alfoster Thanks for your thoughts! I may have to get it, just to see. I'll have to see what other books are added. 7y
Reviewsbylola That's super odd. Interesting. I will have to read more reviews before I decide. @Booksandcooks 7y
Cinfhen My mine is made up! Definitely a library request! And still super curious about the other books they haven't revealed... @Booksandcooks 7y
mklong @Booksandcooks I'm going in, I'm just too curious to pass it up now. Maybe wait for the June reviews to come in and add it to your July box? 7y
emilyhaldi I'm with @Cinfhen ... White Fur definitely sounds like a library read for me. I have a bad feeling that it will be another 👎🏻 There usually seems to be one in every botm box 😂🤷🏻‍♀️ 7y
8little_paws @Reviewsbylola thanks I love you 7y
Reviewsbylola Thanks! @8little_paws I try to keep everyone up to date on #botm happenings but I've been dropping the ball recently. I can't even try to compete with what @L_auren just pulled off. 😂 7y
8little_paws @Reviewsbylola I'm going for chemistry!! I've been working to be online a little less than usual and get out and explore more, so I'm sure I missed this the first time it was posted. 7y
Megabooks @emilyhaldi @cinfhen @Reviewsbylola @L_auren I read that White Fur is present tense. 🙄🙄🙄 And it has a 14% rating from arcs. I think I'm going to put an account on hold, definitely get the TJR and Chemistry. Maybe The Sisters Chase. The other two, library all the way. It's my last 9.99 month on my second account, so I want to make it count. I found the backlist book I want on sale, but I can return it if I have space in my box(es). #plan 7y
Cinfhen Good plan @Booksandcooks if ONLY these were my biggest #RealLifeIssues (edited) 7y
Reviewsbylola The present tense thing really bugs me too so I'm downloading the sample of White Fur today to see how I feel. Might take a chance on The Sister Chase even though there's no way to get a sample. Still not sure about Chemistry. It's a tough month but i should have listened to my gut last month and gotten Priestdaddy and The Love Interest from the library so I'm trying to do better. @Booksandcooks @Cinfhen 7y
Cinfhen I think library route is the way to go @Reviewsbylola @Booksandcooks you can always add the book another month if u really feel strongly about owning it! 7y
Megabooks @Reviewsbylola @Cinfhen Yeah, I'm going to do some of these as audiobooks. Exit West has a good narrator, and I'm doing that after Sedaris. I'm also doing Killers of the Flower Moon as an audiobook. As far as Dead Letters 🤷🏻‍♀️. I can't even tackle YA right now. 🤦🏻‍♀️ What are these #reallifeissues you speak of @Cinfhen 🙃🤣? 7y
Cinfhen @Booksandcooks I'm not sure who has my copy of Dead Letters but I'm happy to send it to you when it resurfaces 😘 7y
Megabooks @Cinfhen That would be fantastic! Thank you! 😘 7y
Lola @Booksandcooks Ah, Exit West..narrated by my lit crush himself, Mohsin Hamid. I loved it on audio (and in print, too). 7y
