Clare-Dragonfly At the beginning when one of the moms expressed concern about May overexerting herself I was like oh, she‘s definitely pregnant and got REALLY mad at Archer. But then at the end of the chapter it turns out he had no idea, but she used it to get rid of Ellen! Clever May, self-sacrificing Ellen. 1mo

dabbe I think I'm the only one here who wishes/ed (I've read it before) that Ellen and Archer would work out. That would mean them both bucking their society for the love they feel for one another. And yes, the only one who would be hurt would be May, but I somehow think she'd find a way to move on--or she'd shoot Archer dead with an arrow. Which is pretty much what her being pregnant has done to him. 🤔 1mo

dabbe @BarkingMadRead Agree 💯. He knew he had feelings for Ellen BEFORE he married May; he should have never married her. She even gave him an out! He is the most frustrating and egotistical character, and I think I'm biased towards him because of Day-Lewis.
