This was a quick listen at 3 hours. I didn‘t realize it‘s part of a series, but since it‘s a retelling of The Great Gatsby with a twist, I was already familiar with the characters. If you‘ve always secretly wished Nick Carraway & Jay Gatsby got together, then this is the book for you. I enjoyed the narrator. 3.5⭐️

This is book 2 in the Jane McGill series but I forgot most of what happened in the first book. 😳😬 It was just okay to me. It‘s one of her earlier books and is missing the thriller/suspense aspect which she does so well. But not bad by any means. 3⭐️

I had high expectations going into this but was slightly disappointed. Margo is naive and quirky and I like her, but man does she do some idiotic things. It dragged on a bit too long. I did enjoy the narration by Elle Fanning. 3⭐️

I picked up this lovely dictionary from a bookstore in Atlanta while on a road trip with my sister a few years ago. An excerpt from page 1: “The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows is a compendium of new words for emotions. Its mission is to shine a light on the fundamental strangeness of being a human being — all the aches, demons, vibes, joys & urges that are humming in the background of everyday life.”

I decided to use this book as inspiration ⬇️

I‘ve never read a story in this format and wasn‘t sure if I‘d like it but I ended up really enjoying it and ordering the other two books in the series. It‘s definitely dark and is not for everyone. Looking forward to the discussion for #WithTheBanned2025 ! 4.5⭐️
