1. Any kind of demon. There is a book called The Demonologist that chronicles Ed and Lorraine Warren‘s real life work and the last half of it freaked me out. They‘re the couple from The Conjuring movies.

2. I want to say Poltergeist but it also could have been any of those really bad ones that they used to show on USA Up All Night.

3. I keep telling myself I‘m gonna start the trilogy but never have.

Ghost Story | Peter Straub

1. In books, pretty much anything ghostly or demonic. In movies, I still think Freddy Krueger was a terrifying premise even though the movies no longer scare me.

2. Probably The Exorcist, at a ridiculously young age. If not A Nightmare on Elm Street. Hard to tell, I‘ve been watching them almost all my life.

3. I think this one has been on it the longest.

1) I love my horror so that it so hard. Leatherface or The Thing (1982). Or Jaws.

2) I think it was Jaws but I also saw The Birds at a really young age.

3) Probably Dracula although there are a few Stephen King books I haven‘t read.

Misery | Stephen King

1. The Babadook was probably the scariest, though there are plenty of contenders.
2. I was WAY too young when I saw one of the old black and white King Kong movies. I had nightmares for weeks. Course now I‘m a huge fan of Kaiju (big monster) films... 😅🤣
3. Tagged! There are plenty of King books I haven‘t read yet, but this one has been overlooked in favor of others many, many times.

TheNeverendingTBR I overlooked Misery for years until I read it early 2020 and loved it, it's very detailed and atmospheric and I stuck it straight into the Pick pile! 😬 4y

2. I don't have one particular movie that I remember, but on Saturdays the Cool Ghoul would show scary movies- my introduction was to the old Frankenstein, Werewolf, and Dracula movies (this is in the 70s and 80s - when there were only 3 or 4 channels to watch)
3. I don't have a book like that on my TBR for long - I tend to read those books quickly

Chrissyreadit I remember watching a lot of weird stuff in the 70‘s that I‘m sure I was too young for because it was all that was on- and we had 5 channels I think 🤣(Was Demon Seed ever shown on tv? I distinctly remember a computer trying to impregnate a woman) 4y

EdnaC 1. Pennywise - not really the clown form but the truth evil that he is. That stuff terrifies me. 2. Children of the Corn - to this day I can‘t go near corn fields without being creeped out. 3. I guess the Shinning because my husband wants me to read it. I don‘t usually do horror. 4y

TheNeverendingTBR @EdnaC The Shining is superb, essential horror reading. If you're not into horror that much, I recommend reading 11/22/63 by Stephen King; is brilliant! 4y

I was somehow allowed to watch (at a very young age) the 1973 TV movie Don‘t Be Afraid of the Dark and was traumatized for YEARS. 😂😂 Look it up; there are little creatures in the basement. 😂😂 3. I have had Hell House by Richard Matheson on my shelves for way too long. 4y

1. Salem‘s Lot but there are many short stories of his that could easily be considered here.

2. Lisey from Lisey‘s Story. The evilness in Desperation. I just keep thinking about how Stephen King totally ruined family vacations for me. How that whole kid‘s family gets killed. And his sister was pushed down those steps. It was horrible. And what feels like the same evil in The Regulators which when I read it, I had nightmares about that book.

Reggie @TheNeverendingTBR I get the sense that Lisey‘s Story from the people I‘ve ever talked to that have read it is one of his more least popular books but there‘s stuff in there that I still remember with clarity 15 years later. And if you read Desperation try to read The Regulators right next to it. Hope you like them all! 4y
