Just watched Brats, the documentary on Hulu and this book was mentioned in it. The documentary was interesting and so well done. Now I have to read this because I am a huge fan of those films and the actors that were part of The Brat Pack.

Some of these I saw in the theater, some I finally caught up with in the past few years, and some are still on my watchlist! My score is 65 out of 100. #TLT

The top three in no particular order:
1. E.T.
2. Blues Brothers
3. Big

I ended up with a score of 134/187. I used to be a big movie goer, at least once or twice a week. Then Covid came along, theaters shut down and I got out of the habit. Since 2020 I've seen two movies in the theater (the last Fantastic Beasts movie and Indiana Jones & The Dial of Destiny).
#TLT @dabbe

dabbe Not bad at all! I watched tons of movies in the 80s but have tapered off since then. Now I just want to rewatch beloved ones from the past. Thanks for playing! 🤩🤗😀 5mo

1.Definitely 'Dance Hall days' by Wang Chung. I could not LOVE that song more!
2.I stayed in a perfect Airbnb in Chelsea in London once, that would be my dream home!
3.A nice walk with my husband in good weather to get an expansive sweet breakfast accompanied by good coffee!
Tagged book is a great read on music!

Hi, #USS!
Just a few questions before the big opening next week so we can get to know each other a little better. You can reply in the comment below or post your own (just be sure to tag all of us so that we can enjoy what you share!)
1. The sweater was multi-colored, had shoulder pads, and jingle bells all over! #the80s
2. Hands down Vince Guaraldi's A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS. The whole album! ⬇️

dabbe 3. My favorite all-time movie is 1984's TV movie A CHRISTMAS CAROL, starring George C. Scott.
4. A jacket without a hood; I love feeling wind on my face.
5. Maybe it's because I've lived in Phoenix my whole life, but a dark, snowy, chilly day and night is my favorite weather--of course so that I can be snug inside with coffee and Bailey's, reading a book in front of the fire with my pups at my feet and my husband by my side. #myeternalbliss

Amiable I‘ve lived in New England almost my entire life (minus 4 years in Michigan during grad school), and that kind of weather is my favorite, too! So cozy and snuggly. 🥰 10mo
dabbe @Amiable My whole family and my husband's are from Michigan (Grand Rapids and Port Huron). And my favorite area in the states is New England--all of it! #smallworld 🩵🩶🩵 10mo

Amiable @dabbe My husband was an engineer at EDS (then part of GM) for the first few years of our marriage. We lived in Swartz Creek (near Flint) until I started grad school at MSU —then we were in East Lansing and Howell. After our oldest son was born (at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing!), we came back to New England. Couldn‘t stay away! 😀 (edited) 10mo
dabbe @Amiable I love MSU and E. Lansing! I remember walking around that campus just admiring all of the green trees and red brick buildings--so Christmasy! 🤩🤩🤩 10mo
AnnR 1. I can't think of a really ugly sweater but I recall a very itchy wool blue and gray striped sweater.
2. I totally agree with @Dabbe, as I love the A Charlie Brown Christmas album. Maybe second place would be the song Winter Wonderland.
3. Movie: How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966 animated version).
4. Definitely a jacket without a hood. Wet socks are so uncomfortable!
5. I reside in California & am a homebody by nature. Also a mood reader. 📚

dabbe @AnnR LOVE #3 too; it has to be the original, though! #5 describes me, too (except for the CA part). Thanks for sharing! 🩵🩶🩵 10mo

This was my first 'The book was so much better than the movie' experience. I remember watching the movie and thinking 'this can't be the same thing as that book I read.' #TheBookIsAlwaysBetter

Eggs Well done! 2y
mandarchy I had no idea it was a book! I was talking to (a perfectly mature adult) about this movie for a moment before realizing that they looked confused. Apparently not everyone has seen this movie. Which is funny. I don't really watch movies anymore - so if it came out after 1990 - I probably haven't seen it. So I can't be judging the young people. 1y

TheBookgeekFrau @mandarchy Yup, it came out in 1981. And I know EXACTLY what you mean; I was talking to one of my daughter's army buddies who is 22 and I mentioned MacGyver and then was like, 'oh wait, do you even know who MacGyver is?' 😅 (he did lol) 1y
mandarchy @TheBookgeekFrau I had a co-worker stare at me in complete oblivion when I said something about God's cigar. She had never seen or heard of George Burns. BTW, he wrote one of my all-time favorite books about Gracie Allen. 1y
TheBookgeekFrau @mandarchy I didn't know George Burns wrote a book! But then again, being God and all 🤣 Yeah, I can just picture the stare you got for that one!! 1y
