West: A Novel | Carys Davies
post image

#HeatOfJuly playing catch-up #BeWithYou “I rose and rubbed my limbs, slapped them awake, trying to ward off a rising hysteria. This is what it will be, every day, without him. I felt a wild-eyed tightness in my chest, like a scream. Every day, without him." [Song of Achilles] and can‘t wait to read WEST, which was gifted to me by the adorable @Jess #WildWildWest

Gina I've been in a wild west mood this summer and this looks like aces! 1y

#wildwildwest #HeatOfJuly 1 of my favorite parts of western U.S. history pre-dates what some consider the history of the west.Californios! They were usually considered to be a Spanish speaking Catholics born in Alta California between 1769 & 1848.They had humongous land grants located in what is now California given by Spain which all fell apart with the gold rush & California being made a state. Many place names remain.Lonesome Dove?because its 👍.

Lexeegee Love Lonesome Dove! 1y
Leftcoastzen @Lexeegee I think if you read one book associated with the West , pick 1y

Another post for #WildWildWest
A perfect book for the #24in48 A brief, impressionistic, impressive lyrical narrative. Often reading like a prose poem.

Someday, I‘m going to read this retelling of Snow White set in the #wildwildwest. Someday, when I get all the money. Someday, when I get a grip on my unruly tbr. Someday, sigh..

Ddzmini I know I keep adding books to my tbr on Litsy it‘s out of control and I buy books so often my husband thinks I‘m book crazy so I‘m trying to finish the books in the house before I get anymore it‘s just not working out 😖📚📚📚📖 1y
Kalalalatja @Liatrek @LibrarianRyan @BarbaraBB the eternal struggle of the bookworm 🙄😂📚 1y
Kalalalatja @Ddzmini I feel your pain! I was on a book buying ban for the first four months of the year until I got under 30 unread physical books. It was hard, but having a “goal” also motivated me a bit 👍 1y

This was a Book Club choice about a woman in the #wildwildwest who disguised herself as a man and worked as a stage coach driver. Based on a true story. #heatofjuly

BarbaraBB This sounds like an amusing read! 1y
DivineDiana @BarbaraBB It is based on a true story, but I never thought of it as amusing. More like sad, desperate and unusual. (edited) 1y
BarbaraBB @DivineDiana O I must have interpreted it wrong, sorry! 1y

DivineDiana @BarbaraBB No apology necessary! I didn‘t reveal much about the story in my post. If you get a chance to click on the book description, you‘ll have a better understanding. 1y
BarbaraBB I did now and you are definitely right! 😘 1y
