#Bookcrossing in Beccles #Suffolk.
Sebastian Faulks is on of my #favouriteauthors

TrishB Just reading this one at the moment. 6y
Ardachy @TrishB #Engleby is one of his best in my view. 6y
TrishB And creepy..... 6y
Ardachy @TrishB Indeed. An added benefit for me was that, if I remember correctly, a lot of the action takes place in Cambridge which I am familiar with. 6y
TrishB Yes it definitely is - though they never actually say Cambridge! 6y

A #bookcrossing book from one of my #favouriteauthors released on bench along Ipswich waterfront after an excellent lunch at The Last Anchor.

Lauram Do you ever stick around to see who picks it up? 6y
Ardachy @Lauram Only occasionally. Sometimes people will stop and look but leave the book where it is. Others may pick it up then leave it somewhere else. Others pick a book up to read it of course. I know this from journal entries I have received. 6y
Lauram I enjoy all the photos! 6y
Ardachy @Lauram Yay! This book has been caught. See the journal entry here http://www.bookcrossing.com/journal/15116688 6y

The first book I have read by this author and I was impressed. I liked the style of writing and it subtly added to the atmosphere and emotion of the book. The historical context of the book was familiar to me but again is subtly explained without too much detail. It is set mostly in the south of Ireland. I will happily read another book by this author if anyone has any recommendations as to which one.

An amusing and entertaining read involving jam doughnuts and a #football club under threat from developers. It seemed like an appropriate read during the FIFA World Cup and I needed something lighter after some heavier reads. It served that purpose well.

Rachel Joyce is one of my #favouriteauthors and I released this copy of her third book in Elmhurst Park, Woodbridge, #Suffolk. You can just see the book on the bench in the background. Whilst in Woodbridge I purchased her fourth book The Music Shop, anyone else read it yet?

TrishB I‘ve read The Music Shop and liked it - but didn‘t really like her others! 6y
Ardachy @TrishB I love the Harold Fry books and enjoyed Perfect but not as much. What made you read The Music Shop if you didn‘t like the others or did you come to it first? 6y
TrishB I‘m in a book of the month club and they all got picked 😁 6y

An excellent biography of Lady Jane Grey. Clearly well researched but written in an enjoyable narrative style. The photo is of Framlingham Castle as that features in the story and is fairly local to me.

Paul Torday is one of my favourite authors. He wrote each book in a different style but all were very good in my view. This one was no exception. I see lots of people are posting their #FavouriteAuthor so I thought it would be rude not to join in. For me it is a close run thing with several authors in the frame. Have chosen Iain Banks on the basis that I get two for the price of one if I include the Science Fiction he wrote in the name Iain M Banks. A great talent lost to us far too early.

This was an interesting and entertaining read. Recommended for anyone who finds that one universe is not enough. Now time for it to go travelling so I have released it on Felixstowe pier. http://www.bookcrossing.com/journal/14352165 #bookcrossing #UK

RaimeyGallant Do books travel well this way? I'm so intrigued. 6y
Ardachy @RaimeyGallant I get about one in five journaled but I am sure the others travel too. There are instances of books being journaled over 10 years after being released. Some of mine have had multiple journals in various countries but obviously that is the select few. 6y

I have just started reading this book. It came to me from a #BookCrosser in #NewZealand together with the #postcard. The book has previously been in #Canada, #UK, #France, #Germany and #Spain so it is better travelled than I am. http://www.bookcrossing.com/journal/12421194

Kaye That is so cool ! Does everyone put a postcard or signature or note of some type as it stops in their country ? Interesting ! 6y
Ardachy Not always @Kaye but it is not unusual. Bookmarks and labels are also a popular addition. 6y
Kaye Sounds like a lot of fun. Do they have a set length of time the book should be at one location, so that it keeps moving ? 6y
See All 11 Comments
Ardachy @Kaye No set time although some folk running formal book rays ask that it be moved on within an agreed period. Most #bookcrossing releases are ‘wild‘ which is to say they are left for a random person to pick up. 6y
Chellebearss What a cool idea! I‘ve never seen book crossing before 6y
Ardachy @Chellebearss let me know if you decide to try it. I am ardachy there too. 6y
Chellebearss @Ardachy thanks, I will try it out! I have a few that I could release :) 6y
SqueakyChu Hey @Chellebearss Did you ever try out BookCrossing? What happened? Did you like it? (edited) 6y
Chellebearss @SqueakyChu I released 5 in my area and haven‘t seen anything about them since. :-( 6y
SqueakyChu @Chellebearss LOL! Only about 2-5% of my books ever get journaled, but I‘ve released thousands of books since 2003 when I joined #BookCrossing so I do get some of my BC-registered books “caught” every now and then. I also meet up with other #BookCrossers in real life so that makes it more fun as well. 6y
SqueakyChu @Chellebearss Did you know that jessibud2 at LibraryThing is also an avid BookCrosser?! We used to write to each other on BookCrossing years before there was ever such a thing as #LibraryThing! 😃 (edited) 6y
