The Glass Box. Truthfully this was almost a pan, but I do have admiration for those who put themselves out there and self-publish. It desperately needed a good editor, and there was too much focus on the “action” as Corey and Isabella are pursued by an “evil mastermind” who gets about 4 pages of backstory. I picked it up in an LFL because it was a book cross and I have dutifully sent it to a different state! #bookcrossing

A biography of conservationist Georgiana Molloy who created English gardens in Australia during the 19th century. Read it back in 2007 and found it far more interesting than anticipated. The title doesn‘t scream “Book about gardening” 😂Probably picked it up via #bookcrossing but I can‘t remember. Trying to give some love to post-less books here :-)

This is the book that I really needed to read right now, given all the anger, violence and chaos in the world. The author's premise is that human beings are essentially good and kind and that flawed studies from earlier times and distorted media reports make us believe otherwise. Highly recommended.

This story showing a day in the life of workers in a restaurant about to shut down resonated with me. My parents had a Chinese restaurant and so much was familiar: the worries about staying afloat, the conflicts and camaraderie among staff, the disappointment when no customers show up, and then the chaos when they all come at once!

I liked the interwoven stories and the parallels between the Kindertransport children of WWII and the refugee children separated from their parents at the US border in more recent times. It makes me very sad to think of these situations that are still affecting many refugees today.

A memoir from a food blogger filled with recipes, many inspired by the author's visits to Paris. I made the French lemon yogourt cake from it and it was delicious!

Set in Tasmania, this is an unusual story told in an unusual way, from the points-of-view of a large number of characters, most human but some not.

Very glad I got to discover this talented author via #BookCrossing.

A very enjoyable and informative book about eels. I hadn't realized that the reproductive cycle of the eel was so fascinating!

An enjoyable historical novel set in 1920's London. It started slow but I liked how the various plotlines eventually wove together, and I also found the morally ambiguous characters (which, frankly, were almost all of them) interesting.

kwmg40 @Ruthiella Me too. I found that, even with the open ending, I found the way the book concluded very satisfying. 13mo

This book is a low pick for me. It's a somewhat random collection of thoughts on silence, some insightful and others that were less interesting. Either way, it has definitely made me appreciate silence more.

This might be a stretch, but I'm using this book for prompt 30, “Meowth: Treasure“ for #gottacatchemall, since the theme of the book is that silence is to be treasured, and we all know that “Silence is golden“! @PuddleJumper

Librarybelle Wow! I‘ve not seen a book crossing book in a long time! So cool it is still a program! 2y
kwmg40 @Librarybelle BookCrossing is definitely not as active as it used to be but there are still a lot of dedicated BookCrossers. I always get a thrill when I get a journal entry for a book I released many years ago. 2y

Librarybelle @kwmg40 That is really neat! I remember it being super popular 20 years ago. I had an account, and though I never released a book, I enjoyed reading the alerts of a book being released in my area. 2y
kwmg40 @Librarybelle I mostly do “controlled releases“ these days, with a group of BookCrossers around the world who send books to one another, but occasionally, I'll leave one “in the wild“. 😄 2y
