Seeing her journal, in person, after loving and reading these very words for 30 years- it meant a lot to me. I think I was more reverent than when I saw a Gutenberg bible. 🖤

batsy I imagine it must have been something 💜 7y

Am I the only person completely over seeing GIRL in the title of a book? I am refusing to read any- this is how incredibly annoying it is to me.

I'm really enjoying this read but there is one thing I am finding so hard to buy- the reference librarian who has a hard time doing his own research and needs help. Total BS. The author knows swimming, but she does not know librarians.

This book is hitting close to home as I am dealing with my own parents aging and their need for more help from me. Sigh.

batsy Yes, I feel like elder care is not something that's talked about enough. Need to pick up this book. 7y

Witches: Salem, 1692 | Stacy Schiff

Mehso-so

Hellish is the word that comes to mind with this read. I am pretty disappointed. While Schiff obviously did her research, she states in the first chapter there was not a lot to go on. This period in New England history is so embarrassing to me. Reading about the ridiculous accusations is frustrating. I'm just kind of trudging along since this is my #readharder pick for a book that takes place 100 miles away.

Somasis I agree, but I thought the author did the best she could, given the material. There is only so much variation you can get from "this aweful thing happened, and people were aweful about it, and did aweful things to each other" again and again. Talk about depressing ? 7y

blankpagesofmine I haven't read any of these!! Which one would you recommend the most? 7y
Betty_Bookworm @blankpagesofmine Depends on what you are in the mood for. They are each so very amazing in their own ways and I reread them all regularly. 7y
blankpagesofmine I will definitely add some of these to my tbr. I'm probably most curious about Station Eleven and The Bell Jar, since those I've heard the most feedback anout 7y
Liatrek I really enjoyed the Namesake been meaning to find the movie and watch it. 7y

In such a reading slump right now. Everything feels mediocre. So I grabbed something I've already read and know is amazing. I love doing this- coming back to books I haven't read in 20 years. They are always different reads now.
