The Glass Town Game | Catherynne M. Valente
post image
Panpan

I'm a fan of fiction about the Brontes in general, but this one was too out there for me. Based on the stories the Brontes are known to have invented as children, this story has them transported into the fictional Glass Town, where all kinds of adventures ensue. Perhaps my imagination just wasn't strong enough for this particular adventure! #glasstown #bronte

This tagged book arrived at my house yesterday. After reading about it on @LeahBergen Posts, of course I just had to order it! Unbeknownst to me, this book is by the same author as a #TBR book I chose for my August #MakeMeReadIt stack.

LeahBergen Yay! 👏🏻👏🏻 I have the other one waiting on my shelf, too. 😄 1y
Andrea313 I really loved How To Be a Heroine and am so excited to read Take Courage! Looking forward to getting your thoughts. :) 1y

I found this illustrated book for kids for Jane Eyre at Goodwill and couldn‘t pass it up. Jane Eyre is one of my favorites. I hope to be able to give this to a little girl (whether my future daughter or niece) to pass on that love. And hopefully she‘ll want to read the real version when she‘s older. ❤️

Pickpick

I enjoyed reading this, although it took me awhile to really get into it. I had heard enough about the story, that the parts that were meant to be suspenseful weren't so suspenseful for me. But, there was enough I hadn't already heard that it kept me reading to see what happened to Jane and Mr. Rochester. I liked Bronte's writing style and that it had some elements of a gothic novel. I'm glad I finally took the time to read it. #classics #bronte

DGRachel It‘s one of my all time favorite novels! 2y

staci.reads Glad you liked it. I've reread it so many times! 2y
jdenslow You might also like Jean Rhys's "prequel", The Wide Sargasso Sea, a novel that tells the story of the origins of the 'madwoman in the attic'. 2y
CoffeeNBooks @jdenslow I've heard of that book, but never read it. I'll have to put it on my TBR list! 2y

🌧 It's a rainy, dreary day... a perfect excuse to stay inside and read all day! #classics #classicliterature #bronte #apliterature #englishteacher #teachersoflitsy

MelissaSue81 I almost picked this up at the booksale yesterday. I‘ve never read it. 2y
JoRead I know lots of people that prefer this one over any of Austen's books but it was just meh for me. The story was ok but the pace was sooooo slow and the narrative so boring. Let us know what you think 😊 2y
Christine11 This is one of my favourite ever books! Enjoy! 😊 2y
PedestalNix I first read this about fifteen years ago, and enjoyed it quite a bit. Been meaning to give it a re-read. Enjoy it! 2y

Book haul pt. 1 courtesy of a friend! I‘m so excited by these titles! (And I hear two more Christie‘s are on the way!😉) The bottom Book is Tagged as you can‘t see the title and it‘s a Frankenstein retelling, as is the top book. I‘m in love with Syrie James‘ classic retellings so this is amazing too! And although I‘ve read MOTOE before, it‘s a favourite and this edition has Depp 😉😹 I feel spoilt! #agathachristie #frankenstein #bronte #booklover
