I recommend this book so much at my library that I had to buy extra copies to keep it on the shelf! It's an epic story set in medieval like times. The book starts the series with 15 year old Will just learning what being a ranger is all about.

Daisey I‘ve heard good things about this book but never read it. May have to move it up the TBR. 6mo

I loved this series when I was younger, and found that though I‘m older now, it‘s still pretty awesome! Will and Halt are the kind of characters that stick with you, and I‘m excited to try and finish the rest!

I love me some fantasy. I've waited a very long time to start this series, though i've owned it a long time. I started and finished the first four within a week. It's not highly original. Sometimes even a bit cliche. But it's also like coming home after a long, cold day and stepping into a hot bath, for the true fantasy fan. I haven't been this excited by a teenage boy since I was a teenager myself.

I LOVED this story! I've read this twice, but it's been a long time and I never finishes the series. Will definitely be remedying that soon (meaning after the wonderful madness of #bookspinbonanza is over 😅)

Joining the LibraryThing Ranger‘s Apprentice group read rather late. I thought the prologue was a bit reminiscent of Terry Brooks but it‘s settled into its own now. Judging by my own kids Will may be a little young.

Now that I‘m further into the book (Chapter 13) I‘m enjoying it. I like the way the older characters have a sense of humour that no one around them appreciates because they‘re in awe of them.

I knew nothing about this story let alone the series and I was so pleasantly surprised! What a fun YA fantasy novel full of knights, monsters and... rangers?! Rangers are like top secret agents/spies/ninjas and through Will, the MC who is an apprentice-in-training, you see the significant role these skilled men play. This book had everything I wanted - friendship, life lessons and of course, action!

I absolutely loved book one of The Ranger‘s Apprentice series! For one, Flanagan is very gifted in creating a well-paced, action packed story that tells a satisfying tale in the first book while also foreshadowing a looming threat for the sequels. Secondly, Flanagan creates dynamic characters that I couldn‘t help but like—Will, Horace, Halt, Alyss, and even Tug, in particular! And the heartwarming epilogue was the icing on the cake. Good stuff!

This has been my brother‘s favourite author/series for years. I‘m serious. If you know a young boy (especially, though anyone can enjoy these) and want to get them into reading, hand them this! I‘ve been promising to pick this series up myself for years, and finally got around to it. Great 1st book. I will personally murder someone if something happens to Tug though in the future. Just so we‘re all clear. He‘s the best ❤️🐴

Quick and easy read; parts were slow and the book definitely felt like a set up novel for the remainder of the series but I liked the characters and the world building.

My friend has been recommending this one for years and I finally grabbed it at the used book store. A great coming of age story that many ages groups can enjoy. Lots of adventure and fun, combined with fun characters you quickly come to love. I will be searching out the rest of this series soon.
