Listened to my first audiobook through Spotify! I was hooked on this book in the beginning but I felt like it petered out towards the end.
Vampires and werewolves hate each other and each take a child to reserve peace. There is also some hacking (penetrator) in this book but it was pretty minor. 2nd romance this month that I‘ve read that this was the woman‘s job.
I‘ve read better fantasy romances, but this one was enjoyable.
Both of these just edged into Pick territory for 3 ⭐️ reads. I appreciate that Ali Hazelwood is finally branching out from the (now very) repetitive trope formula established in The Love Hypothesis (Grumpy/Sunshine, extreme height difference). Check & Mate still featured a very nerdy subject (professional chess) and Bride‘s FMC is a Vampire Princess-in-STEM, but exploring new genres (YA, Paranormal Romance) has breathed new life into her writing.
PERHAPS NOT everyone's cup of tea but I really did enjoy this immensely. Bride got me out of a reading slump. Now that I am finished, I am experiencing a severe book hangover and miss this story 😔. My 30th book of the year and second five-star.
Finished this a while ago and forgot to post. I liked it enough to return my library copy and buy my own. One I know I‘ll reread. Enjoyed the world building as much as the characters and look forward to the sequel.
I was really nervous to read this having seen some mixed reviews, and knowing how much I adore Hazelwood‘s other books. But I absolutely devoured it and could not put it down!!! I loved the humour mixed in with the drama. Considering this was her first book into the fantasy genre I was very impressed. Also so happy that the end looks as though she‘s setting up for a sequel. Yay!
It was right around St. Valentine's Day when I went 2 Walmart & found this. Their bookshelves had mostly Romance reads.
I usually browse to see if there is any love stories in the fantasy genre. This time however, I just finished watching the novela, #amorimposible & I “needed“ something similar.
By the time I found this, it felt like buried treasure. It didn't seem what I was searching for at that moment in time, yet it was fantasy...👇
Holy. FRICK. That was addicting to read. Couldn't put it down - besides quick breaks to laugh or go "omg, wait what". Silly “monster” romance. Lowe is freaking amazing. I can't get over his everything. That speech he gives Misery on that trip? Hell, that hit every pore. Misery herself, well, I felt so bad for her going through all that abuse. Still, she never backed down. Spice was hot due to the amazing emotional connection they created.
"This ain't The Brothers Karamazov, we don't need the family tree!" funny shout-out to the other book that I am reading (and reading and reading) in this hilarious paranormal romance that I am enjoying immensely

Happy Easter everyone 🐇💝
I was a little disappointed with 'Bride' but it's not really the book...I just don't think I'm a werewolf/vampire person .... I never went through the 'Twilight' phase. It was well written and quite funny at times... Just not for me 🤷 I'm off to eat this chocolate bunny, drink tea and read! Have a fabulous Easter Sunday 💖
My March #WrapUp of my owned books (some recent purchase, but yeah)
#ReadMyShelves
What a fun read! This book has been criticized for being silly, but I ask you, what to expect from a book about a vampyre and a werewolf, lol. Total fluff, but also with some surprising insights into loss and abandonment and loneliness, as well as conflict and stereotyping and power politics. I liked watching Misery and Lowe get to know each other and build a real LIKING for one another beyond just attraction, and a satisfying ending.
3.75⭐This book has an odd cover, almost as if it was left unfinished….but anyhoo…this is my first Ali Hazelwood book, and while this book was compulsively readable I can‘t help but inevitably come up with some elements that didn‘t work for me. Also…for a Vampyre/Werewolf book, this was surprisingly un-supernatural, other than the knotting🠠WTF seriously, that scene was so awkward. Although, it‘s quite likely that I‘ll listen to the next one.
I've seen a lot of mixed reviews on this book but its been all over Litsy so I followed haha
Spring has NOT sprung in Vermont (or it was one of those “false springs“ they talk about. Yesterday's snowstorm derailed my weekend plans. But, I got a lot of reading under a heated blanket cuddling with the babies time!
I finished this one. I enjoyed it, I hadn't read a paranormal romance in a while so some of the racer parts surprised me. (Maybe I wasn't used to Were/Vampire sex). Had a lot of the typical tropes too, but I still enjoyed it.
My goal for #MarvellousMarch is to finish the two books that I am currently working on.

I‘m a sucker for a paranormal vampire/ werewolf themed romantsy - I especially like snarky don‘t fit in with the crowd vampires forced to marry hunky Alpha wolves 🐺. I lucked out and got to read the Fastread ebook on Libby. I tore through it. There‘s mixed feelings and there‘s a hefty dose of spice. 👍👍🔥🐉
5/5
Misery Lark's marriage to the werewolf alpha will cement a treaty between werewolves and vampyres, but she has her own reason for agreeing to risk her life by entering this marriage.
I devoured this book in two days. Hazelwood's first paranormal romance was super fun with a very different plot, but with a lot of the tropes she's known for using in her romcoms.
Many of you really like this book, I am against the clock on my library loan here (I know I can airplane mode 😉) I‘m at about 25% & the characters are not doing it for me (so 1 dimensional) but I also DNF‘d 2 books yesterday so it‘s probably just me 😂 Talk me into it (or out of it) - should I persevere and hope it clicks or #hailthebail ?
This marriage, it‘s going to be a problem. She is going to be a problem.

I devoured Bride this week! While it was a little predictable and more on the basic side of fantasy 😂 I couldn‘t put it down! It was soooo cute & now I‘m craving more wolf romance in my life. Also I had to immediately reread Fangs, which is a quick graphic novel about a vampire +werewolf romance that I love! Have you read either of these? Or what book has your attention this week?
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Welp, I was knot expecting that! I really wasn‘t sure what I would think about a Vampyre and Werewolf romance, but this was so much fun! Sexy, snarky, primal, sweet… I‘ll devour the next one if she makes this a series! 🎧
It‘s always fun to read Were and Vampire rules implemented for new generations existing in a world of prolific-breeding humans. These were fun characters with a romance that did not lean into the miscommunication trope - kudos for this because with all that interspecies steam it would have been easy to fall victim to it. The steam comes in at the halfway mark so Ali gave us a chance to know Misery and Lowe first - I appreciate that.
Thank you @TheSpineView for creating this play~tag~share card.

Since everyone can pretty much guess my #1 Batman, I will surprise and say...
1 - Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (completely platonic). I would just like to chat with him, perhaps go ghost hunting too. (Oh, wait, he's real) OK Him or Sherlock (you know, so if I ever go missing).
2 - Tagged Book, which is proving to be a splendid read!
Funny. Enjoyed reading this after the 10000th dose of pain killers and an empty void in my chest. Entertaining and well, funny. Yeah. A lot of growling and biting involved.
A dangerous alliance between a Vampyre bride and an Alpha Werewolf becomes a love deep enough to sink your teeth into in this new paranormal romance from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Love, Theoretically and The Love Hypothesis.

I finished 7 books this month and 6 of them were books from my #mtTBR for my #ReadAway24 plan. So far no new books purchased for 2024!
At first, I couldn't get into the world-building, but once I was able to sit down and really devote the time to this vampire/werewolf story, I couldn't put it down.
I was invested in not only the romance but also the mystery of Serena's whereabouts and the affection between Misery and young halfbreed Ana.
Hazelwood's trademark snark and spice abounded.
Loved it!
Love love loved it, Ali hazelwood just gets better and better, her best yet ! The best vampire romance ❤️🔥 Iv read since the twilight series, hell it‘s better than that ! Is there anything wrong with comfort reads in the world Wer living in at the moment and choosing easy cosy reads ? So it‘s perfect 👌
Book 3/7 finished for #FabulousFebruary and #20in4.
This was a solid 4 star until the very end. It was a little too saccharine for me, lowering it just a teeny bit. Still overall I really enjoyed it and read it in less than a day.
@Andrew65
Enjoying this but feeling… Not 20? 🤣 I‘m glad The Youths have discovered paranormal romance. I‘m glad their fearless embrace of that which they enjoy has been empowered by social media and that that in turn has given power to honest enjoyment…. But having read this genre since I *was* 20, I‘m feeling a tad “oh sweet summer children” for The Youths discovering it… it‘s a weird and odd feeling I‘m just going to lean into and be glad 🤣💛🤣
This was a very entertaining, fast paced paranormal romance. I liked this authors first book, but the others all just felt the same, so I didn‘t pick up her last 2 releases. I was curious about this one and glad I checked it out. Pretty decent paranormal world building and very likable characters and some quality steam. I hope she writes more in this world. 4.5⭐️
Rainy cold 🥶 February day after Wet puppy 🐶 walks perfect 👌 easy escapist read with a coffee ☕️ and home made peanut butter banana 🍌 and cocoa cookies 🍪, a very lazy day off work.aren‘t they the best 😊🥰 February bingo reads going v well #bookbingo #februaryreads
It‘s been two days and I still can‘t adequately sum up my feelings about this book.

Vampyre Misery agrees to an arraigned marriage to Were alpha, Lowe, in the hopes of bringing peace to the two warring species but also to find answers she desperately needs. I needed a fun diversion this weekend and Hazelwood delivered with a great heroine, plenty of steam, and some interesting world building. I had some minor quibbles but overall hope she makes this a series.

Typical Hazelwood just with a vampire bride and a werewolf groom. Forced marriage, fated mates, miscommunication (which I found mildly annoying). Good, not great. #audiobook 🎧
