pickI really liked this book! Sort of set in some kind of post apocalyptic world, where the remaining humans live in a large silo. Most of which is underground... This mystery was engaging, entertaining, and thought provoking.
I would recommend this book to anyone interested in sci-fi mystery-thrillers.

so-soThis was okay but it's too wordy and there are a lot of similar books out there. This did not need to be 500 pages. And there are 2 other books in the series! Yeah. I'm all set. My IRL book club picked this for September.

pickI enjoyed it very much. The author made his world come to life with very descriptive phrases and word choices. Characters were well developed. I admit I didn't understand what the "architect" of Silo's goal was. I got the gist of it, but if someone can explain what the goal was, I would love to hear it! Even without fully grasping the reason for the silos, the story was fully understandable and enjoyable!
pickPost-apocalyptic, where society now lives in a stratified underground silo with only cameras sending in a picture of the ruined outside world on the top level. Society is tightly controlled, but as new facts are learned by the sheriff tension mounts.
This lightly scifi book is slower paced but I think that helps you feel the tension & the claustrophobia the silo dwellers must feel.
It gets βββ, I enjoyed it but I was not totally entralled.
pickWool was like a grown-up The City of Ember. Though it slogged at times, the twists complicating the good/bad sides made Wool an enjoyable read.
so-soThe idea of humanity's last moments being our ugliest broke my heart. There's no room for war on a staircase, only death. To me that powerful idea was kind of misplaced by the hopeful ending. I felt like Wool could have spoken louder volumes for me if it had taken a chance & showed how some terrible situations can end terribly, no matter how noble intentions were.
I loved Wool, it was written beautifully and its story will continue to stay w/ me.

pickAmazing world creation. This type of fiction is not normally my cup of tea - but I couldn't put it down. Picking up the other two in the trilogy as soon as I can. 5 out of 5 β

I absolutely loved this book. It's a sci-fi book, so it's not one I typically would have picked up, and it was a struggle for me at first, despite being absolutely beautifully written, but it pulls you in very quickly and then I just couldn't put it down.
Now I finished the #24B4Monday #readthon with 4 hours and 7 minutes and I'm happy that I also participated this month. It wasn't my worst resulat although I visited yesterday and today my friends and had less time to read but many time to eat wonderful cakes ππ. I begun a new #audiobook (tagged) and I'm loving it.

so-soThis book had me until the very end. I've said it before - I like resolution. This one left me with too many questions and some that were barely answered. 509 pages to wrap it all up and finish it and you putzed out in the last 20. πππ.5
Well that took a turn. How am I supposed to stop reading and go to bed after that nice plot twist. Eh. It's going to be a short day tomorrow and birthday festivities for the soon to be big 4 year old any way.

I went over to my parents house this afternoon to make Christmas cookies and found myself in such a grumpy mood. I‘m going to blame it on the fact I wanted to be home reading this book, as I had just gotten to a really suspenseful part, but I may be ready for Christmas to be over already. Anyone else feeling grinchy this year?

@Mommamanzi My books arrived last Friday! Sorry, I kept forgetting to post about them and then they were locked away in my construction zone in a box. I love that Wool is dedicated to an Amber. π My husband has actually started reading it before me and he NEVER reads. He hasn't finished a book in the 18 years we've been together.
panWhile Squidapus can often find a lot to enjoy in even the most middling novels this book was just a rough read. He's a bit unsure why it received a decent amount of love because if the book was any drier it'd crumble to dust at a sneeze. It drags terribly and while the concept is decent the completely uninteresting main character and absolutely slllloooowwww pace kills almost any interest he had. While he did finish it, it never grabbed him ever

pickI enjoyed this one! An interesting dystopian novel about a group of people living underground in a silo. Will definitely read the rest of the series.

It was good. There was a lot of tech stuff (mostly mechanical) that I wasn‘t as interested in. But, it was definitely interesting and it picked up for me a little ways in, with the focus more on Juliette (except the mechanical stuff!). For some reason, I thought this was YA, but it‘s not. I think I will continue the series (I read the Omnibus, which collected the 5 short stories, but there are apparently two more books beyond this one).

so-soI'm really struggling with how to review this. I enjoyed reading it but it was not always enjoyable. I felt claustrophobic reading it a lot of the time and could not see a way through. And then the ending felt so miraculous and good that I was left with a great feeling about the book. But I didn't have that feeling while reading it. I am CONFUSED!
