I really enjoyed this book. It takes place between The Last Jedi & The Rise of Skywalker & chronicles how the Resistance reformed itself after the battle on Crate. There were some very entertaining moments and a few older characters reappearing that was great ❤

I really did enjoy this book a LOT, but the corona virus lockdown has been a killer for my reading life. I read the first half in paper copy, then listened to the last half - I got too stressed to turn the page!!! If you loved Claudia Gray‘s Bloodline, definitely read this - I loved how they tied the storylines together.

Karisa Family saw it yesterday and liked it too. I thought it was great but wish her abilities weren't attributed to special family line. Does that make her another Disney princess? I was hoping they'd make the choice to open up the force as a possibility for anyone (even a "nobody"). The way they did it brought a balance though to the duality. Loved that Ben had a chance to do the right thing. ? Love Star Wars! 5y

bookishbitch @Karisa I believe the force has long been open to everyone, including nobodies. It was just the movies who put an emphasis on the Skywalkers. And the title I believe was about Ben's rise, not Rey's. It was also a great nod to your family being about who you choose them to be. 5y

Meaw_catlady Really really good!! I cried so much!! I think the last Jedi was better visually . But emotionally this movie crushed me. The kylo ren / Ben storyline just crushed me. He is my all time favorite. Adam Driver is my favorite. 5y

Hestapleton #unpopularopinion I liked it until the very end! Some the choices (like Kyle and Rey‘s kiss) felt like they came out of nowhere and I found a lot of the movie to a bit heavy handed where subtlety would have worked better. I‘m a bit salty that episodes 7-9 are basically a remake of episodes 4-6, but it wasn‘t as bad as I was expecting it to be. 5y

This really didn't prepare me for what happens in Rise of Skywalker, but it was a good examination of the desperation of the Resistance after the Battle of Crait. The books have done such a great service to the character of Leia!
Saw the movie last night, and it was excellent!

Full of some wonderful Poe & Finn adventure, as well as some Leia (who I will sorely miss as I watch the last film, but it was great seeing that character alive & fighting in the novels yet) in the mix with popular book characters that we haven‘t seen since their individual books. Such a great book for fans of the movies and books... pulling together a bunch of the novel characters into the larger story about rebuilding the resistance.

This book is such a good fan book as surviving resistance members fan out to enlist and track down old allies. It‘s absolutely great to hear about and from characters we haven‘t heard from since their storylines in other books in the series. But when Snap (Aftermath) has to break the news to Wedge Antilles about all his former friends from his rebel days that were lost in The Last Jedi, and especially his good friend Luke, I seriously welled up!

Inferno Squad, Phasma, Cobalt Squadron, the Aftermath Trilogy, the new Galaxy‘s Edge books (I think there are 2 currently), Alphabet Squadron, Force Collector, Dooku, Tarkin, and whatever they put out in 2020. So far, I believe I read about a Thrawn Ascendancy series coming, a follow up to Queen‘s Shadow titled Queen‘s Peril, and a sequel to Alphabet Squadron titled Shadow Fall. So whatever we vote for 5y

I adored this! Roanhorse does a fantastic job of pulling in storylines from the movies, cartoons, comics, and other books without making it feel like you had to have consumed everything first. I think this would be a good place to start with Star Wars books. It feels like the perfect bridge between Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker. The Star Wars humor is captured perfectly, and I cried multiple times. I highly recommend this!
