One of the more revolutionary book on weight loss I have ever read, a lot of eye opener and some radical ideas along with some shocking revelations. A light read which compels you to reflect on the current norms which are overflowing in fitness industry!!

Starting this latest by Brené. Enjoyed the last one. I am sure this book too will have some transformative substance.

If you haven‘t heard about Brené Brown‘s phenomenal Ted talk then go check it out. Brilliantly laid out and backed up by tons of research. This book has some transformative power if you let it. And so does other books by Brené.

CoffeeK8 ❤️ this book, she is phenomenal 6y

This book has been an internet sensation for quite sometime. I was reading Mark Manson‘s blog way before he started compiling this book and I am actually glad that he segregated all his best work in this one. Mark writing appeals to most of us cause I believe he actually shows the vulnerability in it which he preaches.

RamsFan1963 I don't usually read self-help books, but I found this to be very informative, relatable and I've integrated lots of his advice into my daily life. He's right, life is too short to give too many f*cks. 6y

One of the toughest decision I had to make while moving abroad was to leave my book collection behind, My parents sent me this yesterday. I was moved by their gesture and their secret acknowledgment of my love for books.
Guess they have found their new home 🏠.

julesG Wow, that's a very nice gesture. A display case for your books. 6y
Robin11 @julesG my books were sitting in a box , and they installed the case in living room and then arranged them in an order. Like I still can‘t get over this feeling 6y
AmyG That‘s so lovely. 💕 6y

Leniverse I know how you feel. I had to leave my books behind too when I moved abroad. They are still just in boxes. Scattered among family and friends actually. I had a lot of books! 6y
JennyM What a lovely thing to do. X 6y
LauraBeth What a special way for them to honor you 💕 6y
Redwritinghood What a nice gesture by your parents! They are taking good care of your books for you. 6y
DieAReader That‘s awesome! My dad always says I should get rid of books cause I have “too many” & mom doesn‘t really read for recreational purposes. My Mère understands kind of. She reads more than me but keeps none lol! 6y

Hello Littens, I have been meaning to ask this for a long time and I think I have the right community here to help me in my dilemma.
How do u make that choice when it comes to pick a fiction vs non fiction book, I mean given the fast paced life where you have few moments to spare for reading... would you rather go for something productive, something thought provoking or would you like to pick something relaxing?
Open for suggestions...

BookBridget Relaxing, but will read a non-fiction here and there. 6y
Slajaunie Fiction is my first choice but if the subject is interesting, nonfiction. 6y
IReadThereforeIBlog I alternate between the two depending on my mood. I usually pick non fiction when I want to stretch my brain more and learn something new (and sometimes that‘s driven by something I read in a newspaper or on line so, eg I have a couple of books on big data because I wanted to know more about how it was used and the business model for it). 6y

sudi I love reading non fiction, but it also depends on the subject. I keep alternating between fiction and non fiction, otherwise it gets tedious. 6y
callunakeep I am always reading one of each, but my non-fictions take longer to read as I tend towards educational non-fiction and dissect them, taking notes and contemplating all new concepts for a while before continuing. 🤓 6y
Robin11 I love fictions but I always get caught up in this inner conflict to choose between something that gives me pleasure vs something that can enhance my perspective. It might sound weird but Whenever I read fiction and I started to feel guilty, I dont know why, is this FOMO getting the better of me then ? 6y
Lcsmcat I think you‘ve set up a false dichotomy. “Thought provoking and productive” can describe great literature, while non-fiction can be relaxing (think celebrity memoir.) Read widely, read well-written works, and learn from them all. 6y
Robin11 @Lcsmcat I guess you are right there, I kind of felt that all along ... just needed a second opinion.. Thanks for that 6y
whatsthEStorey I find a lot of fiction to be thought provoking and educational! I like both fiction and nonfiction, and occasionally an effortless version of either, but I feel that both can be challenging. 6y
Brittn8 So I‘m not the only one! With so little time to read and having gone so long without trying to make time, I feel like I need to always be reading something “productive” rather than reading for pleasure. 6y
Weaponxgirl @Lcsmcat it right. I tend to have at least one of each on the go at anyone time but I try to switch things up as I go. I tend towards dark literary novels as my favourites but make sure I throw in some genre fiction sometimes. This is alongside all my other reading diversely criteria. Just keep tabs on it in your own way, it becomes second nature to read diversely after a while. 6y
tournevis Non-fiction is for work. Fiction is not. Unless it is too. Pretry much. 6y
cherinium Reading is my escape from reality. I read purely for pleasure most of the time. That does include a smattering nonfiction, but fiction is my go-to. I do have to read things for continuing education (journals, textbooks, etc.), but I don't enjoy it nearly as much. 6y
Valeka I read one of each most of the time! 6y
Billypar I agree with @Lcsmcat - I would add that I consider a well-researched fiction novel to be quite informative about a variety of real- world things- historical events, jobs, cultures, etc. While a non-fiction book sometimes has an obligation to be comprehensive, fiction can give take something real and give a reasonable account of how it looks from one perspective. It may not be the first reason I read fiction, but it definitely factors in. 6y
LikelyLibrarian I‘m with @cherinium on this one. I read primary fiction, but I‘ve also read some great non-fictions this year - Unbroken, Killers of the Flower Moon, Being Mortal, and the current favorite-book-of-the-year, Educated by Tara Westover. 6y
Dragon @LikelyLibrarian just heard an interview with Tara Westover on the radio, Now I am going to have to add it to my tbr , thanks 👍 6y
GripLitGrl Fiction is my go to I love the escape from reality. I'd go for a non fiction read if it's based on a good interesting topic will catch my attention. 6y
Kappadeemom What she said ☝️ @GripLitGrl 6y
jfalkens Fiction 6y
Cortg Depends. Sometimes I want an escape, sometimes I want to learn something. I enjoy both and read a mix of many genres, otherwise I get bored. 6y
LikelyLibrarian @Dragon You won‘t be sorry 👍 6y
Bronte_Chintz Fiction 🙌🏻 6y
Jess_Franzino Non-fiction for research, fiction for pleasure. (Though I get a lot of pleasure out of non-fiction too 😃) 6y
Robin11 I wasn‘t expecting such nice responses, thank you everybody 🙏 6y
sprainedbrain I read to escape, so I‘m all about the fiction. I do read non-fiction, but only occasionally. 😃 6y
Abby2 Quality of writing is what matters to me. 6y
Neale I think whatever you are in the mood for. The brain is like the stomach it knows what it wants. 😊 For me, eight times out of ten it‘s fiction. 6y
MemoirsForMe I read both and both are relaxing and entertaining. Especially since my nonfiction books are mostly memoirs and autobiographies. 6y
Bookladylinda Fiction is my go too, but I will read Non-Fiction if I‘m interested in the topic. 6y
SW-T I read both. Just depends on my mood. 6y
