An interesting twist on the traditional plague/apocalypse narrative. Not only does our protagonist have to navigate the country after a massive plague has hit the earth, but also had reason to deny what reality is showing her.

For a genre that I usually don't search out, this book was worth the hype and popularity. It kept me guessing along the way and also threw some life warnings along the way. #januaryreads
Here's another one #fortheloveoffonts ... This one is probably one of the scariest (both because of the premise and that of the dark side of human nature) books I've read. A epidemic of blindness sweeps the world...
The font here just screams "Lewis Carroll's craziness" #fortheloveoffonts
Another great installment of the Long Earth series by Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter. Earth side, the American Aegis goes further stepwise than ever before; from the gap, Sally takes an extraterrestrial trip; and throughout the Long Earth, a new 'species' arises to challenge life as they know it. #Readjanuary
There is something magical about the written word in a Steinbeck novel. You don't have to have loquacious characters spouting poetry to have beautiful writing. In sweet Thursday, the follow on to his cannery row, he brings vibrant life to a group of simple Americans just trying to get through life. The more I read him, the more I love Steinbeck. #readjanuary
#2 in the Long Earth series by Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter did not let me down. A picking up the first in on the series on a whim I have been devouring them. I think I have something for the 'undiscovered' worlds of literature. For some reason I thought it was just a trilogy but saw last night there are 5 of them! Find those that have read the series, do they stay good throughout the series?
I must really have something for parallel universes. I read Dark Matter earlier this month and now without really knowing the plot, I grabbed this one. I'm a little under a half way through but I am thoroughly enjoying this one too. After the plans for a "stepper device" are leaked onto the internet , people are able to step their way into parallel universes which are uninhabited but looks similar to what they know in the current world.
Stupid question for all you Littens... where are the daily hashtags/challenges originating??? Here's my entry for #silhouettesoncovers on the spine of my 1883 Dickens collection (well... the 4 I have...). Although not on the cover, I figured that out would be appropriate especially since Dickens has arguably the epidemy of all holiday novels in his canon of work. #seasonsreadings2016 #classics
After having read the original earlier on this year, I loved consuming this version of the classic. It's difficult to compress a large, well known classic into only the key details, but this graphic novel did an excellent job of telling the story in this format.
OK, so I already posted about this book today... but my opinion hasn't changed. This was an excellent book and an excellent thriller that kept me on my toes am the way through. Bravo Blake Crouch, I'll be looking up more of your work. #seasonsreadings2016 #bestof2016 #thriller #litsybookclub @litsybookclub
Wow! This book is really exceeding my expectations. I'm not going to lie, it wasn't on my radar at all and the only reason I'm reading it is because of litsy and @litsybookclub ! I'm 82% through and an thoroughly engrossed. A big thanks to all the littens for choosing this one and getting it in my hands. #seasonsreadings2016 #litsybookclub #bestof2016 #newbooks
A great look into some of the traits and actions liers and deceivers perform when answering questions. This book is a excellent combination of methodology, facts, and anecdotes to show you that our subconscious mind is constantly working against us (if you are trying to be deceptive). #seasonsreadings2016 #nonfiction
Here's a quick shot of some of the classics I have yet to read. I know I love Dumas, Hemingway, and Steinbeck but I have yet to read Brontë or Austen (guy bias??) #aclassicihaventread #abitembarrassed #seasonsreadings2016 #classiclit
Rummaging through my bookcase to find my latest #seasonsreadings2016 I thought of my stacks of books and this quote I saw on Facebook the other day. Likely wholely appropriate to my fellow littens. #bookhoarding #tbr2017 #DecemberTBR
Reading a book to my 2 year old that was given to me when I was the same age (based on the inscription!) Awesome legacy. #seasonsreadings2016 #christmasbook #kidsreading
Good morning littens! To start off this chilly Friday morning I wanted to share one of the quotes that has stuck with me after finishing Moby Dick this year. #fridayquotes #longread #bestof2016 #thewhitewhale.
"To enjoy bodily warmth, some small part of you must be cold, for there is no quality in this world that is not what it is merely by contrast. Nothing exists in itself."
Here's my #Nov16stats. All in all quite successful. I knocked off a couple of the big reads I've had on my #tbr list for awhile and even read my first #graphicnovel ever! best read from this month, it is a toss up between Salman Rushdie's "Satanic Verses" and the extremely well done graphic novel "Trinity" which gives the science and history about the atomic bomb. #sciencebooks #novemberreads
Great passage I read this morning on the bus in MZD's tome, "...Or maybe even the words in the book have been area and in such a way as to make them practically impossible to read." This coming from a book whose pages can sometimes resemble the picture here! #mzd #houseofleaves #morningcommute #scaryread #readharder
