Rating this a pick even though I had a mind bending love/hate relationship with almost every aspect of this book. A sucker for brilliant writing, I pushed on despite the anxiety that swirled about me. Comic relief came to the rescue, and onward I read. Sleep will never be the same. 😴😫😴

I feel like such a failure, but I am going to bail. The struggle is real, but 3/4 into the story I realized that I don't care what happens to any of these people. 😂😂😂 So I thought I would end on a positive and post a pic of a heron spotted while walking last week. 🐓🐦🦆 #birdsoflitsy #LitsyAtoZ2019 @lynneamch you know I tried!

"When Charlotte Smith's wealthy parents commit her beloved sister, Phoebe, to the infamous Goldengrove Asylum, Charlotte knows there's more to the story than madness. She risks everything and follows her sister inside..." So excited to learn what mysteries Charlotte uncovers. ???⛓♀️❗ @lynneamch @theladygreer #historicalfiction #LitsyAtoZ2019 #womenshistorymonth

lynneamch Loving it so far! 20° below normal here. Good time to stay cozy and read. Beautiful pic! 6y
theladygreer Wonderful! Hope you enjoy. 6y
Talewaggingreads @lynneamch Thank you! It has been cold ( 30's at night!) here as well, but warming up fast. Eager to get started on Woman 99, but making myself finish Mermaid's Chair first. 😂😂😂 It is getting better, so there is that! 6y
Talewaggingreads Oh, dear! I finished this almost a month ago and forgot to update. 😫 Ended up listening to The Address by Fiona Davis simultaneously and so glad I did! The world needs more Charlotte Smiths and Nellie Blys! @lynneamch @theladygreer 💕💕💕 6y
theladygreer Agreed!! Thanks for the kind words. And I loved The Address - I love everything Fiona Davis writes, really. 6y

I LOVE this author, but this book, not so much. Unrelatable characters, sluggish plot, and gratuitous sex scenes were just a grind to navigate. #2019LitsyAtoZ

Wowzer! Mary sucked me in from the start. Emotionally difficult subject matter, but a riveting read that leaves you second guessing everything you thought you knew about human nature. #LitsyAtoZ

The lives of these three strong muti-generational women are anything but charmed! Somehow, Gibbons tells their stories in such a way that is almost simultaneously tragic but hilarious. I absolutely loved the character development even if the plot was wonky at times. If you are a fan of southern chick lit, this is a MUST read for 2019. HAPPY NEW YEAR! 🥂😍🎉🎆

So enjoyable! Listened to the audio version.? Gotta tell ya, I am a late comer to the "This is Us" phenomenon. Until, I absolutely fell I love with the broken and bruised but courageous Kate/Chrissy. ? So, while the house is quiet this am, I watched first episode and am hooked. #dogsoflitsy #thisisme #thisisus

Rooney's Lillian is based on the life of poet Margaret Fishback. Lovely, lilting dialogue and rich character development takes the reader along for a memorable and enlightening stroll down the streets of Manhatten. The reader, or listener in my case, is treated to a bygone era of civility and community common to city dwellers circa 1920 through 1985. Loved Lillian and this book! #dogsoflitsy #audiowalking

Wisdom, wit, determination, and grit are characteristics that have well served Jeanette Walls over the years. This "pre-quell " to The Glass Castle chronicles the life of her rough riding, moonshine peddling, school teaching, crop dusting grandmother Lily Casey Smith, from whom these traits have descended. I LOVED Lily. Her sardonic sense of humor and fatalistic approach to life are qualities to be admired, imo. Inscription is pretty cool, too.

DivineDiana Yes! The inscription! Do you know her? 7y
Talewaggingreads @DivineDiana , I do not know the previous owner or her thoughtful benefactor. It wasn't until I began reading that I noticed the inscription. And of course, it saddens me so that the owner would part with the book. But, after holding a bit of a grudge, I realized I will never know what transpired to have such a sweet gift end up in a used bookstore.😢 7y
DivineDiana So true. That spirit of love has been given to you. 💗 7y

You can go home again! Frazier's rich details and sensory descriptions take you deep into the underbelly of the woods and human nature where life and death are ordinary, predictable daily events. A strong and persevering female protagonist combined with a well paced plot make this a must read.

Mehso-so

Life after a death must be difficult topic for an author, so I'm taking that into account for this review. Solid plot, weak characters and gratuitous adjectives make this a mixed bag. Most characters were unrelatable, but I did read to the end, so there is that.

If, like me, you have introversion tendendencies (a 1 out of 10 on Myers Briggs), this book will reach into the the darkest recesses of your desperate soul and leave you vindicated. On many levels, I have always had difficulty "fitting in." Over the years I have learned to "fake it til I make it," but not without the extreme effort exacting its toll. The deep-rooted desire for solitude that only nature can offer is the very essence of this book.

Struck by this character's perspective on truthfulness. Quite appropriate considering the relativity of truth in today's world. "He needed it to be true. He couldn't be the man he thought he was if it wasn't."
