Two ladies came in, dressed very smart. They explained that the baby was not dead, that he was in the care of the government, and that there would be some more duties for me here at the hospital. If I took on those duties and kept it all secret, then I would receive a good deal of money and the gratitude of the nation. If I didn‘t—well, they never actually said what would happen. But I understood it wouldn‘t be nearly as nice.

“So you agreed,” said Felicity, fascinated. “And you… never talked to the parents about it?”
“No, that would have led to the ingratitude of the nation,” said the nurse flatly.
Back to Stiletto.. while enjoying cloudy skies.

Re-reading this with all 3 kitties curled up in bed with me. Today is a laaaazy reading day for now, but then I have so much Xmas cleanup (small but still messy this year...)Happy Holidays Litsy friends!!
It took me a bit to get into this sequel as I had assumed it would be from the same character pov as the first book. I stuck with it though and really loved the ways in which the world expanded. We see this super-powered world of international intrigue from the pov of the enemy- a teenage grafter surgeon, struggling to be diplomatic in the face of hate. #WinterGames #SlayBells #TBR 15 pts @MidnightBookGirl @StayCurious @Clwojick
Best suspect description ever:
"He's blond, has a pointy nose, and a blue designer suit. Oh, and he's missing an eye."
"Right," said the trooper. He sounded a little taken aback. "Brilliant. We're on it." He spoke into his radio, issued instructions. "So, which eye is he missing?"
"This one," she said, holding up her hand.
I randomly bought my first Kindle!!!! ♥️ I love it so far ☺️
Got me some book mail! Since I loved Rook from literally page 1 I went ahead and got Stiletto and also picked up another comic. Fables book 8. I love the fairy tale retellings and this one just is crazy! Slowly making my way through the series.
This series is legitimately amazing and so underhyped! The show could be so damn cool and there is some potential for another book (whether or not that ever happens). I loved getting to keep the main character pov from The Rook and her being used as a side character while the main pov changed to Odessa. Their whole dynamic was awesome! ALSO, loved LOVED LOVEDDDDDDDDD the ending of this book. It's so weird and wonderful from start to finish
I just gotta read this after how much I loved The Rook
This book was the sequel to The Rook. It was similar, and good, but there are other, better books about magical individuals living in a mundane world that are better and more surprising. The book had some twists, but there was never a moment of relevation that shocked or delighted me. Overall, kind of blah, though I appreciated the narrator‘s wit and humor.
This came in today @Bronte_Chintz I‘m going to start reading a little bit of it tonight! It may take me a little longer than you to read it since nursing school started for me on Monday but I‘m going to do my best to read it as fast as I can! It‘s a chunkster too!!!!!
So the book I‘m reading with my students the first term back has arrived! I‘m really excited to see my students reactions to it. My husband has also treated me to a For Life tea pot with inbuilt tea strainer, I‘m going to happily enjoy my new loose fruit tea with it. Also @BookaholicNatty Stiletto has arrived! 😆 #delivery #tea #books
Liked The Rook, but as a sequel Stiletto was very uneven. Action...long pause for history, introduce new characters...action, long pause, repeat. Odette and Felicity were nice additions, but Myfanwy was pretty much a secondary character this time. Hard to finish this one.
While not as good as The Rook, I definitely enjoyed this. Grafters were a great addition character wise.
...one plot hole though...OR MAYBE THIS TAKES PLACE IN THE FUTURE!?....England has a queen right now, not a king...? MAYBE THAT IS A HINT ABOUT SOMETHING!? Idk...exciting stuff.
Pleeeeeeeaaaaaasseee write a third book in this world. Pleeeeeeaaaaassssse!!! Ugh I love it. I was worried about this not focusing on Myfawny, but I love Odette and Felicity. This is a very character driven book and I want to spend more time with these very special people. I will say that I wish they hadn't killed off the Antagonists so quickly because they were good villains and I wanted that to be a choice for Odette.
1) Well, I'm working from home today which means my weekend has kind of started already. Taekwondo, reading, planning for my bachelorette party next weekend!!!!!
2)I love jelly donuts.
3) No haha I've been taking my time with Stiletto because I don't want it to be over but not ACOFAS is on my shelf...
4) well, that's not appropriate to share 😉. I also was complimented by a bigwig to my boss so that made me look pretty good.
There are some damn good characters in this book....Lady Farrier for president!
My fiancé and I have been spending a lot of time together in bed....he's been bringing different autobiographies of famous chefs and I'm sticking with my beloved supernatural thrillers?
The story continues on where it left off in The Rook except it‘s told mostly in the grafter, Odette, and a Cheque Pawn, Felicity, POV. I really loved getting two people who weren‘t really into the politics of the Cheque and the Grafters. They were both just doing what they were told and trying to make the alliance work. I loved that they become friends.
Hope there is a another book in the series!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“And sometimes, Odette, you‘ll be a Stiletto, a hidden weapon that slides quietly into the heart.”
😍😍
🤣🤣🤣
I really love the low-key humor in this book. Every time I read something like this in the book it surprises me.
Thanks again to @GypsyKat for this recommendation.
Happy St. Patrick‘s day Litsy!!
This is my fav day of the year because I LOVE the color green.
Resuming this book today since I finished The Wicked Deep.
-the only purple things on my desk: Leela and a toy a coworker gave me.
- chocolate
- I wear three bracelets my husband gave me. Never take them off. (Oh and of of course my wedding ring.)
-jeans, cardigan, and chucks. Very casual here working for the man.
- yep 😬

My husband is sick and he decided he didn‘t want to be miserable alone, so he got me sick.
This will be me all day. Hopefully I can get some reading done.
The second in this series about a sort of supernatural MI-6 is a blast. They are action packed and full of snarky humor. It had been a couple of years since I read the first, so it took me a bit to remember all the backstory, but once I did, I really enjoyed this.
I really enjoyed The Rook and I‘m hoping the sequel will be just as good. #oilchangereading #sequels
Hoping to get caught up on some series I started this year. #winterbreak #library #ilikebigbooks #andicannotlie
I finally finished it! I have to admit, I did not like it as much as the first. I just didn't connect to the 2 main characters it followed. The story was good though, with lots of action and some interesting turn of events. Overall, I'd say ⭐⭐⭐
It's been quite the day here. Baby has been fighting sleep since last night. I won this round. Sneaking in some reading now, and probably heading to bed early. #festivefeet #slowreader
#allthebooksof2017 : the #bestsequel was hands down this sequel to The Rook! It was fun, thrilling and just the right amount of weird. Everyone who loves fun quirky sci-fi will love this book.
Just #CheckingIn! How has everyone been doing?! Have you read anything interesting? These two + trying to catch up on sleep have been filling my days. I've gotten a bit of reading done, but my focus is very limited. #Mombie
I'm working on the tagged book on my Kobo, and I'm about halfway through the audio of Pride & Prejudice. It's my first time reading Austen, I will confess. #ReadingWhenICan
This book has several slippery people in this book, literally and figuratively.

"No situation is improved by the presence of a gigantic anus." (p.257)
Can I just say that the covers of this duology are gorgeous
#indiebookstore #aprilbookshowers I was walking through one of my favourite bookstores and saw this display. Loved Rook so really want to read Stiletto but the giant used booksale is next weekend. I might find it there for $2.00. Trying to be strong....no books till then
