This was such a cute read, and Molly is maybe the only main character ever I can relate to when it comes to the way she viewed her body: "I hate hating my body. Actually, I don't even hate my body. I just worry everyone else might." She's insecure, but she doesn't take criticism from other people and she has a good sense of selfworth. Furthermore, I really loved the romance in this book, and Molly's family and friends.

This book was quite a lot slower than Inkheart, so it took me a lot longer to get through it. The plot was again really strong, and I loved the World of Ink, but I felt it lacked a lot of character development.

These comics keep getting better! I was hooked from the start, because Loki?! Kamala goes through a lot of character development in this one: she has a first crush, and she loses some of her naiveté. *goes and orders the 4th volume*

I can't believe I've never read this before! The Wizard of Oz is such a cute read, but inspiring too, and it's full of endearing characters.

This book honestly felt rather unnecessary, even if it was fun. The end is really unsatisfying, but that completely fits the rest of the series so it makes a lot of sense. Still, I would have liked a little more closure.

This was my first Adam Silvera book. I'd heard nothing but great things about Silvera's work, and I wasn't disappointed. They Both Die At The End has an original and fascinating premisse, one that really gets you to wonder how you would spend your End Day! I really liked this book, and I'll definitely be reading Silvera's other books as well.

I was hoping for a fun romantic comedy, like the one that obviously served as inspiration for it: Groundhog Day. But it wasn't. Instead, it was the story of a girl who's lost herself in all the things people expect from her. This could be a great topic, but unfortunately Ellie was an annoying main character: shallow, not a fast learner, and never even considering just being herself until the last moment. The ending does make up for a lot though.

I had high expectations of this book, as Leigh Bardugo is known to keep improving her writing and it was one of my most anticipated reads of the year. It definitely came through!! I was hooked from the first chapter, Leigh Bardugo's writing was again better than ever and it was action-packed but with a focus on the amazing characters and their often hilarious interaction. Diana is such a great main character!

I honestly thought this second installment was just as much fun as the first! Sure, it's a little predictable at times, but that's not always a bad thing. It's the characters that really make the book, and they have all gone through quite a bit of growth so far.

I immediately loved the richness of the world building, with all its magical details. It took me a while to get hooked on the story though, because a lot is left unexplained for a long time. But it all has a purpose! All my questions were answered at the end. I did have one issue with the book: Ivy didn't feel like a distinctive main character to me, mostly because her emotions weren't clear to me. The side characters were all really good though!

No matter how much I loved the writing and how much I love Shazi and Khalid, I couldn't help feeling like the majority of this book wasn't of much relevance to the plot. Some parts were rather suspenseful and added a lot of insight, but others didn't really seem to serve a clear purpose. Overall, I did really enjoy this book, but The Wrath & the Dawn was definitely better!

The setting of the Hotel Denouement was so much fun and a lot of questions got answered in this book - though not as many as I would have hoped. This series definitely leaves you with more questions than answers!

My first impression of this book was really positive, because the art work is amazing. This added a nice vibe to the story. I was drawn in straight away, due to the mystery that was introduced right away. When the mystery started to unravel though, I found myself quickly losing interest, because there were a lot of details left unexplained and I had a hard time telling the characters apart and picturing the world the story took place in.

This used to be one of my all-time favorite books as a kid, so I was a little wary upon rereading it. It might be part nostalgia, but I still really liked this book! Especially the characters feel so real and sweet, and are still pretty relatable to me.

The good part is the Baudelaires are finally starting to figure things out when it comes to VFD. The bad part is this book was pretty annoying, especially the dialogues with the captain we're not exactly nice to read, and it could have been quite a bit shorter. Let's hope the next installment will be a little more action-packed!

Yes, this book could have been quite a bit less sentimental. But it was a cute read nevertheless and these characters have really grown on me, so I loved reading more about them. So can we also have a next installment about Lara Jean's college experiences please?

I actually liked this book better than the first. Sure, the plot is cliché, but in a good way. The writing is good for this genre, and Jenny Han is especially great at writing realistic characters. Lara Jean has gone through quite a lot of character development, in a really believable way, and she seems to me to be a great rolemodel for teenage girls: she's kindhearted, but she has a good sense of selfworth and knows what she wants.

I didn't expect to like this book much, as it seemed quite a bit too sugary for me, but I have to admit that - even though I had a hard time getting through the first half - I really got sucked into the story in the second half of the book! Even though I didn't like the romance much, I did like the interaction between the three sisters, and all the cooking and baking sure got me a little hungry!

This was one strange book. I quite liked it at first, and the concept was pretty fascinating, but it took too long for anything to be revealed, and then around the last quarter of the book it felt like a whole new book had started, in which everything needed to be explained. A lot of things stayed quite vague though...

This installment was pretty suspenseful, so I read it in one sitting! I'm glad we're finally starting to get some answers. There's only a few books left now, and I'm very curious to find out how the series will end!

I wish I could have had this book as a child. I'm sure I would have loved it! There's a solid, original fantasy plot and great characters, but what I loved most was the love for books that was everywhere in this book! From the chapter headings and Elinor's library to some of the most important plotlines.

Things are really kicking off now! Count Olaf is no longer hiding, and instead the Baudelaires are. That cliffhanger really makes me want to read the next book quickly! I do feel like things are getting dragged out a little though. It would be nice to get a clue or two a little more often.

Daughter of the Burning City was such a treat! It was mysterious, thrilling, original and cute all at the same time, with really amazing characters. A central theme in the book is what makes someone a 'real' person, something that's definitely less clear than it seems. I would have preferred a somewhat less predictable story though - it was pretty obvious who the murderer was throughout most of the book...

This second volume is already quite a bit better than the first. Kamala meets Wolverine! Her powers are explained, giving her an interesting background story! Actual stuff happens!

It's so fun to see how Count Olaf keeps coming up with all these insane disguises, and there was a lot of character development in this one. Also, the Baudelaires keep finding more hints as to what happened to their parents.

It doesn't happen all that often, but I really disliked this book, and for good reason. From the start, it was full of harmful concepts: a massive focus on racial differences, and disabled babies being thrown away to die. Nothing about the story had me interested in what would happen, as the main character wasn't exactly the most likeable character, nor were any of the others. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

When it comes to the dystopian plot, I've seen it all before. But I was sucked into this book right from the start. It was just such a fun read! It kind of proves you don't have to be the most original to write a good story. Even though it might not be all new, there were loveable characters, an action-packed plot, and good world building - although I would have liked a little more explanation at the start of the book.

I think the X-Men universe is pretty fascinating, and this was definitely a good start to dive into the comics. I do think it helps to watch (some of) the movies first, just to get familiarized with the characters, as there are quite many!

A village that burns people at the stake whenever they break a rule, how gruesome! I love how Count Olaf keeps coming up with these hilarious disguises, and how Sunny is making word puns every other page now that she's getting better at talking. This book gave some nice clues, but still really keeps you in the dark about VFD...

I heard a lot of great things about this book, but it wasn't for me. I didn't get immersed in the story at all and while I was reading it, I just felt like I had seen it all before... It wasn't a bad book, but I felt no connection with it.

Woolf's writing is amazing, and I especially love her stream of consciousness style, but I felt like literally nothing happened in this book. I kept forgetting who was who and had a hard time keeping track of what did happen.

This book was such a pleasant surprise! It was utterly captivating. The writing was beautiful and the plot was very well-paced and steady, with great world building and amazing characters. All in all, it was the perfect mix of fairytale and fantasy! The idea of sentient storms is so original that I really can't wait to see what happens next.

This book has been hyped so much I felt it could only disappoint me. But instead, I was drawn in right from the start. Ahdieh did an amazing job on the writing and world building. It all felt dreamy, mysterious and exciting at the same time. I would have given this 5 stars if Khalid's motives would have been just that much clearer. Because it seems a little arbitrary that Shahrzad would change this much for him.

The fun part about this book is that you get all the information you need to help solve the puzzle. It is more of a mystery crime novel than a thriller, and it's character driven instead of plot driven like a lot of crime novels. And that's the strong suit of the book: the characters. They started out as stereotypes, and throughout the book they grew into fleshed out human beings.

This comic was just as funny as I thought it would be! I especially liked the parts where Deadpool broke the fourth wall. I'm curious to read more about him.

This was probably my favorite book in the series so far, even though it leaves us with the same mystery as the previous book. I love the character development of the Baudelaires: they're getting braver with every single book, and Sunny learns to talk a little better, which makes for some really funny word puns. The caretakers in this one were as delightfully frustrating as in the other books, but Jerome was fairly nice.

For all the fangirls out there, this is definitely a mustread! I love the recent trend of having geeky main characters, like in Fangirl, Queens of Geek and Geekerella, and it was again very well done here. To me, Eliza was less relatable than the main characters in those other books though. But I did like Wallace a lot, and Eliza's little brothers turned out to be real cuties as well.

I could have done without the first three chapters, which were mainly a sort of guide to geekness. But the fourth chapter, about feminism in fandom (and irl, of course!), was really good! Maggs is big on intersectionality in feminism, and tackled all sorts of related topics lightly and with humor.

Kamala was an endearing main character, with her having to juggle her new-found powers with her day-to-day life. I loved the message in this book: getting what you want most doesn't necessarily make you happy. Kamala is a teenager who really wants to be deemed 'normal', and her powers make her even less so. I was a bit at a loss as to how Kamala exactly got her powers. Also, I would have liked the art work to be more detailed.

This was a really fun comic! Star-Lords backstory was rather different than in the movies, so it was interesting to read about that. Rocket and Groot were really fun side characters, of course, just like Drax. And it was cool to see Iron Man team up with the Guardians! I would have liked to see more of Gamora though, because her role was rather small...

As ya contemporaries go, this was a rather cute one! It was a nice change to have this much cultural diversity. Often, whenever there's a racial diverse character, you don't read a whole lot about their culture. That was completely different here. Unfortunately, the plot itself was more than just a little predictable, and, even though I loved her and it was great to see all the characters with realistic flaws, Dimple was rather intense at times.

This is the perfect retelling: original enough to be interesting and keep the reader curious to see what happens, but recognizable enough to really have that Beauty and the Beast feel. I loved everything about it! The book is pretty slow, but the good, calming kind. I also loved the 'handwritten' parts in the Beast's POV, which gave a lot more insight in his character development and the struggle between the human and the beast inside of him.

Things are starting to get even more unfortunate, but also more interesting for the Baudelaires. They finally made some friends and they're onto a lead about the reason behind everything that's happening to them. This installment ended in a cliffhanger for the first time, so I'll read the next one soon!

Mim isn't a very trustworthy narrator, due to her mental health issues. Throughout the book, we experience what happens when she stops taking (all of) her meds, when the story grows less straightforward, which is interesting. On the down side, Mim was a very annoying character, with her putting on 'war paint' because she's '1/16th Cherokee' and her unrealistically 'wise beyond her years' (meta)philosophical remarks. I did like the ending though!

This book has me craving the next one! That last sentence has me really excited to see what happens next. This was again a funny read. Magnus is a lovely main character and I loved the addition of Alex Fierro, who made for a cool, interesting new character!

If you've been following me for a while, you know I've been making my way through Rick Riordan's books over the last months. And now I finally got to reading Magnus Chase! I love how Riordan adapted Norse Mythology, and this book was once again full of amazing characters. Magnus himself was a funny, loveable main character, probably one of my favorites so far. And I especially liked Sam, the Valkyrie.

Well written, well paced and original, I ended up enjoying this book very much. Nemesis was a very interesting main character, who went through a lot of development. Her struggle with her place in the world and her humanity was really interesting, just as the concept of Diabolics in general: are they human or animal, do they have emotions, should they be able to make their own choices (yes!)?

I'm unsure what to think of this book. On the one hand, I loved the writing, the main character, the mysterious vibe. On the other hand, I didn't feel like a lot happened and I didn't really feel invested in the story.

I really wanted to like this book, because the idea seemed really fun. But it was just another ya contemporary, with too much childish drama - especially between Piper and her sister. The art felt more like a sidetrack than an actual plotline, even though Piper's love for Andy Warhol was one of the central premisses. Moreover, Piper's (boy)friend, Enzo, was a very problematic character, with his 'turning gay' (?).
