Another novel that takes place in the South—this time at an old plantation home in Louisiana. Lou Ann “Lulu the Love Guru” is forced to take a break in her career to care for her mother who has been kicked out of her third care facility. A fun read. Free on Kindle for Amazon Prime members.
This book by southern writer Michael Lee West was published in 2008. Set in the Alabama Gulf Coast. My paperback version even includes some recipes for foods that were mentioned in the book.
Husband who abruptly left his wife and two kids three years ago, shows back up and offers to take the kids for the summer. Mom goes to NYC to stay with her friend and the fun begins.

Listening to the audiobook for The Water is Wide and reading The Year of Pleasures by Elizabeth Berg. #februaryreads
Started reading for book club in January. Finished the book on Jan. 18. I loved it! It‘s one of those books that I didn‘t exactly know what was going on most of the time, but I enjoyed it just the same. It reminded me of Mr. Penumbra‘s 24 Hour Bookstore and The Neverending Story.
Reading for Book Club. Setting is an office supply store (Staples.) Roger is a middle-aged guy and Bethany is twenty-something. Roger leaves his diary in the break room, and Bethany reads it to find out that he is writing about her, so she writes him back. Interesting and quirky so far.
Reading for a book club meeting. Finished the book. I liked the twist at the end. Don't read any spoilers or you won't enjoy the book as much!

Shades of Fleetwood Mac & the movie Almost Famous. Enjoyed it very much.
This week‘s book haul from McKay‘s Used Books (except for Daisy Jones & the Six—new from the local Barnes & Noble.) George & Lizzie by Nancy Pearl is the title & author of the 1st book pictured.
A quirky novel with quirky characters. Love Anne Tyler‘s writing!
When Chaol was showing Celaena around the castle, they came to the Great Library. She asked Chaol why there were no guards at the library. “Guards are of no use in a library.” Oh, how wrong he was! Libraries were full of ideas—perhaps the most dangerous and powerful of all weapons.”
Interesting read—especially since I grew up in the Mississippi Delta.
“As long as you look for someone else to validate who you are by seeking their approval, you are setting yourself up for disaster. You have to be whole and complete in yourself. No one can give you that. You have to know who you are - what others say is irrelevant.” - Nic Sheff
Magic, time travel, feisty main character ... liking this so far.
Just got this tonight. Excited to get started on it!

Listening to audiobook on a road trip. The 3 sisters and their unique abilities are very interesting.
About 1/3 of the way in. YA fiction about a girl who struggles with OCD. Not depressing though.
Recently listened to Faking Normal on audio. Had already read it once several years ago. We are going to have our freshmen read this book during Freshman Seminar. Such a good realistic book for teens to read.
Enjoying this inspirational memoir.
Listening to this book on audiobook. Recommended Young Adult fiction. Finished the book and also watched the movie. As expected, there are some differences between the book and movie, but I liked both.
Enjoying this novel by Gabrielle Zevin. There‘s even a Choose Your Own Adventure section!
This graphic novel version is a nice addition to the original novel.
