OH MY GOD THIS IS EPIC I AM SCREAMING!!!

julesG Oh no, she didn't?! 2y
julesG Does that mean I have to read the whole ACOTAR series? I only read the first book, back when we had #DickSoapGate 2y
butterbeerheist @julesG omg I didn't know about the dick soap until now 😂 I don't think you HAVE to read them but yeah there's something in ACOSF that has to do with something in the CC series and now there's actual cross over of characters. 2y

I LOVED this. An MM new adult romance in a high school setting. I really liked reading about two rivals falling for each other and then wanting to protect each other from the consequences of their rivalry, because it expanded beyond them to their respective schools. It has the perfect ratio of romance and steam in my opinion. The MCs are so cute and sweet together. The writing and the storyline are good too.
Anyone has any book recs like this one?

Any recommendations for fantasy books similar to the ACOTAR series? With courts/kingdoms warring with each other and found family and lovable characters and misfits and outcasts and a good romance with a bad boy who's actually good deep down? Some steamy scenes are a welcome bonus. Thank you in advance I'm desperate!

Laughterhp I haven‘t read this one yet, but I think it has some of the same themes. 2y
Vansa Have you read Tamora Pierce's Lioness Quartet? They're more YA, and no steam, but the romance is super! Also Kresley Cole's Immortals after Dark series, I absolutely love that, if you haven't read them yet! 2y
butterbeerheist @Vansa thank you! I will be sure to check them out. 2y

This is sexism and toxic feminism all wrapped up in one. If a woman is doting on a man he's not considered weak, but if a man is doting on a woman, she is? Why? And so he's holding coats and doors for her, so what? He loves her and trying to show her affection in those little gestures. If her feminism is taking a hit she can reciprocate. In a healthy relationship there's no weaker and stronger, there's give and take.

Any romance book recommendations that are all fluff and steam but also not quite mind-numbingly shallow?

brittanyreads I don't usually read romance (because of said shallowness) but I really enjoyed Beach Read, and have loved what I've read of Get a Life Chloe Brown. 3y
brittanyreads If you listen to audio, the narrator of Chloe Brown is wonderful! 3y
butterbeerheist @BrittanyReads yeah Beach Read is a good book. I will check out the other book thank you! 3y

TiredLibrarian I'm not sure this meets the steam requirement, but maybe this one. 3y
brittanyreads Welcome! And if you end up liking Chloe, it's the first in a trilogy that I've heard is wonderful! 3y
Jemgirl2014 I just finished an excellent historical romance. It is very lighthearted and the romance is steamy. Mercy and Gray as well as the secondary characters were cracking me throughout the whole book lol. 3y
HeatherBlue Super big co-sign on Chloe Brown. I‘ve read all three books, and they‘re all really incredible. 3y
LauraBrook I‘ve been enjoying the Winston Brothers series by Penny Reid. And Christina Lauren is good for the steam, they have stand-alones and a series. 3y
butterbeerheist @Jemgirl2014 thank you! I read the synopsis and liked it and I‘ve never read a book set in the Wild West so I‘ll definitely be reading it soon. 3y
butterbeerheist @LauraBrook Thanks will check them out 😊 3y
butterbeerheist @HeatherBlue good to know thank you 😊 3y
ravenlee I second (third?) the Talia Hibbert recommendation, the Brown sisters trilogy. Also, Jen DeLuca‘s Faire trilogy (final book due out next month), and Lauren Dane‘s books (the Brown siblings - no relation - and several branching series). Also Lori Foster‘s Ultimates series and spin-off if tough-guy MMA works for you (it was a surprise hit for me). 3y
Susanita Not romantsy romance, just a little story that happens to have some romance. 3y
Susanita But not much steam. Sorry I didn‘t read the whole post. 😶‍🌫️ 3y
annahenke Anything by Beverly Jenkins - just finished the Destiny series and loved it! 3y

On the last book of this series. I owe my knowledge of Greek and Roman mythology to these series and I‘m never bored reading them.
After this book I‘m definitely diving into the other series that are inspired by Egyptian and Norse mythology!

Sienopoli I‘m reading this series again for the second time. Just got to the mark of Athena. He has such a fresh way of presenting these characters. Try Lore and Circe! 3y

A story about a man struggling with bipolar disorder. It was a heavy read but oh so powerful. It felt so validating to read some of my thoughts in someone else‘s words, though my struggles with depression weren‘t as intense. I cried so many times. But it also made me feel grateful that I‘m making my way to the other side and hopeful because the characters made it too. Highly recommend!

Well, now this just made me laugh. This series is filled with toxic masculinity and misogyny. Seriously, what is up with the author? I mean, she‘s a woman, and she wrote this book, so clearly not every woman is offended by the mention of a hard-on.
I really don‘t want to read her other books but at the same time I really want to read a book of hers with a female MC just to see how she writes a woman‘s thoughts.

Can we stop it with the salad and diet coke comments? I guess you‘re trying to be a feminist or whatever but it‘s not really working because you‘re judging this girl who‘s eating a salad just like other people may judge a girl for eating a burger with a side of fries and onion rings. A girl can eat whatever she wants without having to be judged, and that includes a freaking salad.

TheKidUpstairs ????? So. Much. This. I hate the whole "she's so much cooler than other girls because she ate a burger" trope. It feeds into toxic relations between girls/ women, this idea that we are all in constant competition, the whole "you're not like other girls" BS. Let's all stop judging girls (positive judgements is still judging!) by what's on their plates!!!!! 3y
butterbeerheist @TheKidUpstairs exactly! Women have to put up with enough shit as it is (excuse my language). You‘d think we would have each other‘s backs, but actually we‘re the first to judge another woman. It‘s sad really. 3y
Oryx Yeah, let's leave the "she wasn't like most other girls..." trope behind please 3y
That-Bookish-Hiker Yes! This always annoys me in books too. I‘m romance the heroine either eats whatever she wants like burgers and pizza all the time, and doesn‘t work out but stays thin. Or she just eats salads and works out two or three times a day. Can we just leave those details out and say they are just eating some nondescript food lol. 3y

Well, that‘s a shitty way to call Arab people. I‘m really disappointed in these authors. And they didn‘t even do a decent research about the laws in Dubai. “These people in Arab countries” don‘t all have the same laws, and it‘s actually not illegal for women to wear revealing clothes in Dubai.

There‘s no story. Halfway through the book they hadn‘t had one single normal conversation, but suddenly they‘re in love with each other. And then when they did start actually talking a little, it‘s all “what‘s your favorite movie” and “what‘s your favorite color”. And I like steamy scenes as much as the next gal, but after the nth one, it‘s not steamy anymore, it‘s just boring. I had high expectations for this one 🤦🏻‍♀️.

So I‘ve been in a contemporary romance kinda mood lately, and I read The Hating Game by Sally Thorne and The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren. They‘re both great, fun reads, but this one I feel is gonna easily become one of my favorites. I‘m only a 2 chapters in and I‘ve already laughed out loud like 3 or 4 times. And I already love the main character, her sense of humor and her love for and protectiveness over her niece.

GloVerdino I love love loved this book! I‘m a little reluctant to read any of her other books though because I don‘t they will be as good as this one 3y
butterbeerheist @GloVerdino yeah I get that. I felt the same thing with Sally Thorne and Christina Lauren. I thought that maybe if I put some time between their books and the next ones and read something else in the meantime I wouldn‘t feel disappointed if they weren‘t as good 😅 3y
ravenlee I loved this one so much that when I returned it to the library I immediately bought my own and read it again! Second one was good but I felt it was a slight let-down because the first was amazing. I have high hopes for the third book this fall. 3y

Azriel and Elain or Azriel and Gwyn?
I‘ve shipped the former couple since Elain became High Fae. He‘s so sweet to her in his own stoic way, and I felt that she brings out this side of him that few other can. But then I read the bonus chapter from ACOSF and we find out he thinks he has a claim on her because his brothers are mates with her sisters?! I was disappointed he thought that way, even though I felt like he does have feelings for her.

butterbeerheist (2/2) On the other hand Gwyn brought out more reactions from him than I‘ve ever seen before, like when she told him she‘s gonna win the Blood Rite Qualifier track. He seems less restrained and more at ease in her presence. And she‘s starting to be at ease around him! 3y
