Life of Pi | Yann Martel

I think I‘m going to try my first audiobook on the commute back and forth to work. I‘m afraid that it won‘t be able to keep my interest for long though. Any thoughts?

mabell I love audiobooks! It does depend on the reader, but a book where you would get pulled into the story would be a good type to start with. If you like travel, Bill Bryson would be good. PG Wodehouse for comedy ❤️ 6y
brilliantglow I don't know. I read this book in high school when it came out. My school librarian recommended it to me for a book report. I hated it though. Even to this day (many years later) I think of this book with so much hate. And seeing it everywhere again because of the movie so much rage lol 6y
Kendra.Diane I love them! I usually like it more than music so I can just relax and listen, without hearing the same song again and again. Harry Potter is great and also orphan train! 6y

alibrarianslibrary My recommendation is to start with a celebrity memoir. They usually have humor to keep you entertained. And if you do zone out for a bit you don't miss crucial plot points. 6y
ptkpepe98 Listen to a sample before you make your selection. That way, you'll know if it makes you want to listen or not. A good reader is so important. I enjoy both fiction and non-fiction, and have learned to select audiobooks of the latter that I don't want to annotate. Not good while driving.🤗 6y
Beckys_Books I also listen to audiobooks on my commute. I usually avoid anything over 10 hours. The type of book is very important, I can't do character driven literature, just straight forward plot driven books work best for me. And, if I just can't concentrate I turn it off. Somedays my thoughts are just too chaotic to focus. 6y
OrangeMooseReads It is an amazing book and he narrates 6y
Alicia I love audio! I started off doing mysteries like Gilllian Flynn because they held my attention. Now I read everything but really have preferred nonfiction. 6y
Sydsavvy I'm totally hooked! Great suggestion @OrangeMooseReads ❣️Also, try this for fiction: 6y

jolena_75 @PrezBookster It is the longest book I‘ve ever read, I think it‘s longer than the text books when I was in nursing school lol 6y

Booknerd222 Definitely want to read that one 6y
LauraJ Almost finished with the audiobook. 6y
jolena_75 So far it‘s a really good book. I‘ve never read an audiobook, I‘m going to have to check into that, I could get my workout in and listen to a book while I did! Win win lol 😀 6y
TheSketchyReader Methinks I like Colin! 6y
jolena_75 @TheSketchyReader So far he‘s my favorite, but I‘m not very far into the book yet. 6y

They‘re filthy rich. It‘s no wonder that I‘m procrastinating in the front seat of my car when I should be making my way up to the massive home with the clout I‘ve been led to believe I carry.

jolena_75 @Crystallinegirl I‘m so excited about it, this will be my first year doing the challenge! There‘s a lot of books on my list that I wouldn‘t have read without the challenge. 6y
Crystallinegirl It's my first year too! And same. I read so many books as a kid, though, that it was hard coming up with the ones like "childhood classic you never read." Luckily my husband, who was brought up very different from me, had several to recommend! So now I have James and the Giant Peach (fruit or vegetable) True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle (set at sea) and Are you there God? It's me, Margaret for childhood classic. I'm really excited! 6y
tpixie @Crystallinegirl those will be great reads! I just read Peter Pan- see if that meets any challenges. I l loved the narrator! 6y
jolena_75 Some of the prompts where really difficult for me to find one for, I had to go by the suggestions in the goodread group for a few of them, Like the cyperpunk prompt, I‘d never heard of the genre. For my childhood classic one I choose Matilda, I‘ve seen the movie a dozen times but never read the book. 6y
