This book was good. Bittersweet, emotional, endearing and sad. Loved the sarcastic cat narration.

When Satoru takes his cat Nana on a road trip to find a new home for him, Nana finds ways to prolong their journey together. I never would have read this book if it hadn't been a book club pick--it is narrated by a cat, it's deeply sentimental, and it is tinged with sadness, all things I typically avoid. Still, it was a gentle and moving book, a tribute to the bond between a human and a cat, and to the power of connection, human and otherwise.
Such a heartwarming book, even if I did sob thru those last chapters. Loved reading from the cat‘s perspective, taking an enlightening road trip along breathtaking sites in Japan & picturing Nana almost exactly as this movie poster. Made me cherish my friendships, especially those that have survived decades. Didn‘t realize Hiro Arikawa also authored the Library Wars series, which I‘m about to start.

My choice is the tagged. It's such a sweet book of life and companionship. I find it so moving and comforting.🐾🐈⬛️🐾
Tux is wishing everyone a wonderful Friday!!
What is the best book you have read recently?
#Adayinthelifeoftux
I‘m diving into this one! Just couldn‘t get into the other 🤷🏻♀️
Bawled like a freakin' baby in the last 30 pages. A very sweet novel. The pacing is perfect; a slow reveal of a man's life from the cat's perspective.
Cottage read #6 and last day here!
Very sweet story about a man and his cat, travelling around Japan together. Beautiful illustrations. A slow contemplative pace.
Must read for cat lovers.
Starting my Goodreads giveaway book today. I have really wanted to read this... wish I had won a physical copy, but beggars aren't choosers, especially now that it's so hard to win anything.
Also, happy bday, America 🇺🇸
Woke up to see an email from Goodreads that I won a giveaway. I wish it was a physical book and not kindle, but that's ok. I'll take what I can get. I've really wanted to read this so I'm happy it's at least a book I'm really excited about. I don't enter them as often anymore since they changed the format... just seems like too much work
??? Effing feck! ???
I thought this was going to be a reasonable 3⭐, but due to a too-close-to-home/too-close-for-comfort tugging on the heartstrings, I dissolved into a puddle of 5⭐
CW for "I know how to get them blubbering" ??????
Couldn't find it either here or on Goodreads, but apparently there's a second book with some short stories.

@Laughterhp here are your picks for #trappedonanisland. I absolutely loved The Travelling Cat Chronicles. It gave me the worst book hangover.
Enjoy!
#two4tuesday Thanks @TheSpineView for the tag!
This is a hard one but here goes:
1) Mulan—that girl is golden
2) Tagged. How about a man and his cat traveling around Japan (probably a better Ghibli movie)?
This was my irl bookclub read and my #doublespin for December. I really enjoyed it! It's a peaceful, reflective story of a cat travelling with his owner as he visits old friends. It switches POV between the humans and the cat; his feline thoughts are entertaining. The story is a bit bittersweet but demonstrates how the journey isn't as important as the people with whom you experience it.
@TheAromaofBooks
A Nana lookalike (almost) and its sibling. 🥰
Today these two went away on an expedition the entire day. Their mom was worried sick and so was I. But thank god they knew how to get back home. 💚
My first hardcover #librarybookhaul in six years! 🥹After my free membership was revoked due to my ETJ resident status, I tried getting by with cheap ebooks, gift cards, and Little Free Library finds. A digital only nonresident library card also helped, but I still spent way too much money on book buying every year. Access to hardcover books makes the extra nonresident fee worth it, I grudgingly admit. Gotta support my book nerd habit after all!
I read this a few years ago and thought it was lovely and quite moving.

Well, this was a unique little fun endearing read! A story from the lens of an anthropomorphised cat and his human pet parent as they travel across Japan? Sign me up. Witty, sassy writing, sweet characters, unique plot. A really wonderful read.
Finished this early in the week for #FoodandLit #Japan & loved it. I usually have *issues* with pet stories that get sad—I just can‘t take it, especially as my Max🐱is on the downslope to 20 & showing it more every day. This book made me cry but it also made me smile. Nana the cat & his human Satoru have a wonderful relationship & Nana was written as just having the right amount of snark & cattitude. A special book, probably 4.5 ⭐️ for me. ⬇️
I‘m at a loss. It‘s between the penguin and the cat. I loved them both. I‘m going to have to think seriously on which was the better book. Aaaagh! #readingbracket #readingbracket2022
This was a breathtaking book about the love between a man and a cat, with beautiful descriptions of the countryside of #Japan. Very near the top of best books I‘ve read this year. #foodandlit
4.5/5 ⭐️ As someone who is known for crying because of how much I love my pets, this book had me sobbing 😭 The love between Satoru and Nana is so special!
How is everyone else liking the book? I love Nana's POV!

"There are so many things in life that are beyond our control."
This novel proves that realizing that truth doesn't have to mean living in despair or numbness or anger.
Very grateful to this snarky/sweet feline, and his caretaker, for the journey I got to go on with them.
Have you ever held any fondness for a cat? Yes? You will cry.
Have you ever lost a loved one? Yes? YOU WILL CRY.
Get the Kleenex ready. ???
Definitely need this readathon to read as much as possible before my family comes to visit in over a week!
Goals:
☕️The Travelling Cat Chronicles
☕️Ninth House
☕️Go Hex Yourself

I absolutely loved this book told from a cat‘s perspective. So tender and tinted with both joy and sorrow.
There was a part of the story that I did feel was unnecessary. But overall, it doesn‘t detract from the book.
The narration was amazing! One of the best on Audible. A definite must-listen for everyone. In fact, I say listen to the book rather than read.
If you‘re a cat lover, this will really touch your heart and warm your soul.
Just finished this bittersweet #BuddyRead for #FoodAndLit #Japan
I swear I am getting softer as I get older. Good job I am working from home so no one sees me crying through my lunch break 🤣
I really enjoyed the narration by Nana the cat, the cute illustrations, and such a powerful story of the bond between an owner and his cat ❤️
I‘m trying to convince my cat to read with me. #Japan #foodandlit @Catsandbooks @Butterfinger

Kili likes to visit our friends in New Jersey. We‘ve never been to the sea or the mountains, though.
The book is sweet and tender, and it just might leave you 😭
It‘s a sweet book. I enjoyed reading about how the cat and Satoru met and their friendship developed. Once they started travelling I got bored and found the story a bit dull and sentimental. If you‘re a cat lover, you might enjoy it.
Lol, this cat.
#thetravellingcatchronicles #hiroarikawa #philipgabriel
Such a heartwarming story of one cat‘s travels through life.
