4 hours left of my audio book and I can't decide if I'm loving it or hating it. I'll decide when I finish it!
Fast-paced, entertaining psychological thriller.
I really enjoyed this book but it wasn‘t as twisty and unpredictable as I was led to believe. I had the overall story figured out pretty early but I still liked all the details and the psychological manipulation. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I had to take my box to work with me because I was rushing out the door this morning 😂 and oh my gosh, thank you so much @cwarnier for these thoughtful book selections and adorable gifts! I can‘t wait to get home and put on a pair of these cozy socks and read!! The tagged book looks especially interesting- I‘m excited to read it! 🥳#readinthenewyearswap
This one had an interesting premise and a solid start, but the end of the book fell extremely flat for me!
"Every lifetime contains pivot points ... that shape and eventually cement one's path. These moments, as unique to each individual as strands of DNA, can at their best cause the sensation of a catapult into the shimmer of stars. At the opposite extreme, they can feel like a descent into quicksand."
Currently enjoying An Anonymous Girl. Looking forward to starting A Tree Grows in Brooklyn for the #ATreeGrowsinBrooklynBuddyRead starting in January. I have had it on my TBR for years. This will be my first Litsy buddy read!
I‘ve had this book on my shelf for awhile and I finally read it. It was a little hard for me to get into but once I did it was hard to put down. I loved all the twists and turns in the story. I had to keep reading to see what would happen next. I would recommend this book.
I gave it 150 pages ... and I‘m bailing. Story line is ok , characters & writing .... not for me. Some of the images are cringe-worthy ... my mind was ‘spinning like a washing machine‘... 🤦🏻♀️
Definitely potential in the plot .. I almost kept going to see what happened next , but I couldn‘t.... 🤷🏻♀️
This thriller kept me awake half the night. Not because it was so scary that I couldn't sleep, but because I couldn't stop reading. The story of Jess, who as a client comes under the spell of the perfect and mysterious psychiatrist Doctor Shields, is filled with twists that kept me guessing until the end. Recommended!
I listened to this thriller about a woman who joins a research study to earn some extra money and gets involved in the researcher's marriage. It was engaging and not entirely obvious. the characters were not likable, and the ending wasn't satisfying. There was a lot of book for a little story.
Well-written and addictive! An Anonymous Girl has now become the best book I‘ve read so far, overtaking The Farm. The characters are so deeply explored and at points you feel like you‘ve been pulled into their world. There is a twist and turn at every flip of a page, you think you understand it all- think it‘s all figured out- and then there‘s a spanner thrown in the works and then a spanner thrown at the spanner. A must read. A work of art.
Anyone have a recommendation for a good thriller? These two are just. No.
So, I‘m not even half way in and I‘m not sure I can take it anymore. Maybe it‘s the audio but...no, pretty sure it‘s just the story. The whole thing seems so ridiculous. The audio is pretty rough, too, though. Jess‘s POV narration I can take but Dr. Shields? Who even speaks like that?
"A secret is a secret if one person holds it"
Jessica signs up for a psychology survey on ethics and morality by Dr. Shields for want of some quick cash. The questions are basic at first, until it starts getting too real and personal. Soon the sessions turn into practical outings and eventually she starts confusing reality with set up scenarios which Dr. Shields has orchestrated and her paranoia grows.
Mistake? Should it be "hone in for the kill" ?
Mistake? Is it voicemail or voice mail ??
Mistake? "Thomas wore A black tie" ?
Mistake? should it be "such as A Hermes logo..."
This was a fast-paced, twisted psychological thriller and I devoured it in just a few hours. It kept my interest from the first page until the last. It is the perfect book to read on a lazy summer day. The villain is deliciously evil, but I found the other main characters to be pretty unlikable as well. It was difficult to cheer for the heroine when she was such a crappy human being herself. The plot was cleverly devised and adequately executed.
Got in a little reading time at my fav time of day
I liked this book, it kept me interested all the way through. It was very intriguing and thought provoking. I liked the game of cat and mouse between Jessica and Dr.Sheilds. This book felt very intense at times, I wish their would have been a little more action, but the betrayal and deception kept me wanting more. 4/5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐
